Hi Georg

Sorry, I have got no idea where Simon might be.  The last I heard from him or saw him was probably in the late 70's or early 80's.
Did you live in Oranjemund?  I can't remember you, but I see we are more or less the same age.

Cheers,

I lived in om from 73 till 79. Went to ops till 76 , then nSt. Pauls College in Windhoek.
In om I was in class with Barbara Fry, Nicky Hodge, Andrew Morrow and Simon. Not at the same time, as the class was mixed new in 75.
My age is 43 if that helps your memorie. My dad (georgrufswa) posted some pics with me at the boycsouts, but I can't remember in which topic.

Hi Georg

Must be getting old.  I still can't remember anything.  We moved here in 73 and I am still here.  Left a couple of years after I got married.
We were friends with Willson girls, Delia, Natasha, Laubscher boys  -  all from your time.
I'm also 43, but I was in an Afrikaans class in Primary school.  Maybe that is why I don't remember you.

I've got friends in Switzerland - the husband works in Germany at some University.  Not sure exactly where.  They came out to visit us in July this year and are trying to get us to come visit them in Switzerland next year.  Only thing that puts me off is the cold.  I absolutely hate the cold.  How do you guys survive???

Cheers,

Hi Sheena.
I must admit, I hardly had any contact to Afrikaans classes. But I think we were all that way.
Maybe I'd remember you, if I would see a pic. of you from that time.
The only names of the Afrikaans teachers I remember atre: Mrs. Wilson and Mrs. Du Plesie. Hope that's spellt right.

Hi there everyone!

I was also a teenager in that "era" and certainly remember everyone who posted on this topic - except (I have to admit, Georg is proving to be a slight "mystery") - especially seeing as I went to the Convent in Windhoek and would have had to have been on the same plane with you.  I think I better go and have a look for the photo you were talking about.  Which year were you in Std 5? I seem to be getting the idea you were perhaps a year ahead of me??

Great site and great to hear where people find themselves these days.

Kind regards
Patricia (nee Lineker)

Hi Patricia.
I remember the name Liniker somehow, but I don't remember you.
I visited std. 5 in 76 in Mrs. Ralphs class. Went to St. Pauls from Jan. 77 till Dec. 78. Lance Armstrong was the only other OMer in one of the cathlic schools along with me at that time. Most OMers went to the government school. Can't remember what it was called.

Hey Georg, i think my boet's going to be flattered to be referred to as Lance ARMSTRONG............was that a Freudian slip as they say?  Are you hiding a secret desire to be another Lance Armstrong - hmmmmm, is it the actual riding or the perks that it brings of dating all those beautiful women?
idontknow
i know it's him you referring to as you said in a previous post Rusty and you were the only 2 boarders going to a windhoek school at the time....he was in std 9 when you went there in '77 'cos he went to the army in '78.......w

So, so!
Couldn't remember the name at all Florrie. So we must have been on the plane together everytime. I remember one fellow from your school, he liked drinking on the flight. He got sick sometimes. Do you remember who I mean? I felt sick enough by the flight often enough.
Do you remember them taking off in Walfish-Bay and landing again because of engine trouble?

Georg, since may mind went awol, I have difficulty remembering who was at school with me, or who went to Windhoek. Will list some names but not sure if they definitely went to Windhoek and who the drinker was. Billy Muir, Craig Summers?, Phillip, Kevin? and Mark Laubscher, Gary Gray, Patrick & Paul McCarthy? The engine trouble rings a bell, but do remember those terrible air pockets and turbulence between Walvis Bay and Windhoek. It was that part of the trip that had most of the people barfing. Luckily I have a strong stomach, never once got airsick.

Don't remember any of the Laubschers, McCarthys or Summers going to Windhoek. I can remember some of there faces well. Billy Muir? Your brother? Gary Gray? Could be. I just remember the fellow having a very straight back. The way Dicky always wanted us to sit. hihi. He must've been about 2 or 3 years older than me.

Yes, my brother but I think by the time you started, he left. He was only with me for 2 or 3 years, then he left school. Mike, can't you put something on that shows years at what std at OPS and years at which high school? I find it difficult with the Alzheimers to keep up with who was where and where they are now.
