Who remembers the cafe in the 70's run by that "Greek" guy, the cafe was the first place in the 70's to have arcade machines put into it. Ateroids, Pacman and a car game. I remember MR. Zandhuis coming past there in the afternoon and yanking kids outta the place ,when they were meant to be at sports.
Anyone else remember hot the NGK church went through the roof, branding the machines as the devil's instrumemts.
hehehehe
;D
I REMEMBER THAT VERY WELL,
ESPECIALLY SKIPPING SCOUTS TO GO AND PLAY SPACE INVADERS UNTILL THEY SHUT THE PLACE DOWN, i can't remember if your or your brother was with us at the time.
Alain Gonzales
My brother stephen was addicted to the games....., what was the name of that guy that ran the place? Tall dark haired med type?
???
His name was ROSS, a greek guy that came with René Soum and his family.
René then found a job at the Hexen Kessel before Ross was kindly asked to intoxicate young children elswhere.
mmmmh! That rings a bell!..
That cafe was always crowded after those machines were put in there! Middle of the afternoon after school, there was always at least 20 kids in there......
The other 267 kids were at the town pool! :D
His name was DENNIS ROSS ...lol
Remember that they were jewish and were originally from Johannesburg ....
I thought that they were greeks?
Well perhaps wrong but my mom was friends with his mother (Dennis Ross) and they often spoke about their lives up in Jo-Burg.
Also after we left Oranjemund in 1984 my mom worked for a Jew in the Mount Nelson Hotel and he apparently knew Dennis Ross and his family..
I guess Ross ain't a good Greek Name.maybe Rossalatinas for greek and Rossalberg for Jewish....
