Sad to hear of the passing of longtime Oranjemunder , Clive Symes a few hours ago.
Condolances to the family during this difficult time...
Clive was a big contributor to this forum, a vast source of Oranjemund history has now moved on....
The man that lived down the road from me on 12th avenue, with the numberplate on the garage.... I always wanted to pinch that SC numberplate...
Rest Well Clive....

So sad . My deepest Condolances to his wife and 2 daughters. RIP Clive.
I echo , my comment on facebook last night ,, am just now numb ..
Well off to bed .. hopefully a good nights sleep . my week was very challenging leaving me very drained . The news of Clive Symes illness and what we knew was inevitably playing out despite the hope .
I must admit I have been ducking when it comes to illness and loss of friends / family ..such a lot has happened over the last 6 years .
I know its the passage of time , our parents and their parents all had to deal with it and as we get into that time bracket we too have to accept .
As my Mom said " I used to go to ladies nights , weddings , baby showers , christenings . More of the same as my children grew up and made me a grandmother . Now many years later it is different , I am going to more and funerals and less of the other , I dont want to go to any more . Will you go in my place and give apology ? " Thats it in a nutshell , I echo her words ,, I am numbed out at present .

Condolences to the family. RIP Clive
RIP Clive. A sad loss to the OM community wherever we are in the world.
Went to Clives memorial service today .. a good gathering , Brother John Symes and Johan Krige gave great eulogy . Must admit I am still in numb mode , not dealing with death and loss .
Oh My Sandy... if there were a like button I would have clicked it. So many of us are passing on to where our souls travel .......sometimes I have to ask myself where. I have found myself distancing (sp) myself from so many friends who are ill because I don't want to deal with it. I 'm thinking maybe I've been having to many "close to home" passings and illness's. I can't be liking this. To Clives family my heart goes out to you. My good friend Jacob Kruger was very close to Clive and having lost his wife and my close friend Glynis he can only be comforting to Clives family having been there himself.
What can I say other than Loves and Hugs.
echo what you say ,,, smiley-hug008.gif to all in loss , experiencing and anticipating the inevitable ,, just not there ,, 16_1_231
Absolutely shocked to read about Clive's passing away. My sincere condolences to Clive's family and friends.

Judt had a second memory, I always remember the Dymes family coming into Spar with the early shift on a Saturday morning, the 8:30-09h00 crowd....
Oranjemunders tend to surface around 10h30 and. Then rush to Spar before we close at 13h00..... They the endure a longwait with the delayed masses.... Those thathitthe store between 08h30 and 10hoo areoutin a jiffy....
Just a 2 cents memory,
