I would just like to take the opportunity to congratulate the Broken Pole on main a happy 3rd Anniversary!
Now an established landmark opposite the old Bioscope, the broken pole , or to be politically correct, the broken Street Light pole, was knocked over one drunken night and even though it is situated almost smack bang on the busiest intersection in town, not a single responsible person has taken the bull by the horns and (1) Filled the hole in around the pole (2) Removed the pole (3) fixed the pole........ FOR THREE YEARS!!!!!
How we care about our once proud town!
How difficult could it be to have repaired this street light.....?

That pole is still there, tempted to send one of my workers over to remove it and fill the hole....
Bro Mike - why not use the pole as an umbrella stand, add a couple of chairs and a tiny picnic table, a cooler of beers and grab some sarnies and go have a lunchtime rest right there in the middle of the road..!!?
...Great idea there Bro. Robert, just scared that somebody might drive into me table and knock my umbrella over.......
:wow1:
So I guess you will post the photo of you at the table with an umbrella, picnic basket and bucket of beers taking lunch in the middle of the road...??! It will make the news and bring lighthearted mirth to the town to see the Spar Bestuurder doing his bit to make the people smile!!
Good PR too!
I guess after four years of celebrating the eyesore of a broken pole outside the old bioscope, I was put on high spirits to see this past Monday that the shattered pole had been removed and a spanking new slender pole wafted in the stiff southerly breeze...
I was so happy to see this and continued to walk around the corner to the town pool, only to have my spirit dashed to see that some drunken had knocked down a lamppost opposite the laundry.... 23_146_26
That being said, well done to whoever initiated the repair work, for a mere 24 hours later, the recently damaged pole was replaced...
It's small things like this that restore my faith in the future of the town....
Happy Anniversary!
Faith, faith...you gotta have faith! So shall we see if we can wish each other Happy Anniversary much sooner, say in two years time?
Ha! The never ending anniversary! Life is getting shorter by the day Brother Bruce!
...and he has to remind me about the sands of time.....?!
Only coz' you are older than me....almost a wise auld man!
