On my way to the petrol station yesterday, I happened apon a newly formed lake on Industrial road.....
Another major pipe burst on first avenue....
Then last night, I heard reports of a major pipe burst up at the reservoir .... no water the entire night....
still no water, Spar having to take boxed water off the shelf to make bread for the day....
When we left town last week, another lake had formed in the desert...... yet again, a burst water pipe...
Surely somebody must have read my posting a few years back....?
I know that money is tight..... but all this patching up is not the solution to sustain the town's infrastructure in the long term...
The council would not survive a year with such a setup....
It's all fine and well, trying to install water and power meters, BUT YOU HAVE TO FIRST ENSURE that the services are working in a manner that they should be.....
I believe the only solution to this ongoing nightmare....
Find funding.... (not easy, guess you could mine a extra cubic metres of diamond gravel each month)
Appoint 4 plumbing contractors on each corner of our square town and embark apon a 5 year complete renovation project. this will create work and show that the company is serious about the town's future.....
Do the same with the electrical system in the town.....
AND ..... above all, unlike the cheap fencing that the company is being taken a ride for, MAKE the contractors adhere to standards and accountability.......
After the 5 years , the town will be ready to move forward...
In the meantime, the local council must start to sell land off in a fair manner, not to developers in order to inflate pricing.... The president is fully aware of this selfish practice....... and focus on sourcing rates and sales from this....
Water, water everywhere, but not a drop to drink!
Well not to be the bearer of bad news, but there was another major pipe burst last night.....
By my own count this is now the fourth major pipe burst over the last 10 days and does not count for the small one's.....
In my own opinion, the wheels are coming off now....
was interesting talking to a retired local plumber, (who was called apon by one of the current contracting companies to show them where to look for some valves/pumps)
.....
New water system for Oranjemund proposed.

Tis Friday and I have reports of two more pipe burst's for today, the big one up near 11th avenue near the Sand Quarry . This has caused the town to be without water for the last 7 hours..... sales of 5lt fresh water has gone through the roof at Spar...
the 2nd break for today comes from 3rd avenue.....
It's all happening up here....
Somebody has to wake up to the madness and take the bull by the horns...... stop wasting time and money......
Oh my, hope the whole town is not washed down river before I get to visit you guys! Soon the "desert jewel" will be called the "marsh meadows"... :nono1:
3 pipes leaking here this morning. yellocard
Spar sold more than 1500lt of Fresh Box Water on Friday Afternoon....
I had to order another 4500Lt for Next week as a backup....
Crazy days..... who would have thought that we would be paying for water one day! summer joy.gif
....... And today's burst pipe can be found down at the flats next to rugby club..... hearing reports of some of the flats being flooded....
....... and the show goes on.......
15 years ago I had proposed solution to the water problems in Oranjemund but always same answer from the company no money and "NEW" municipality will take as is and will improve the system
Still no money and they are rushing to install water meters to try and make money out of a broken system....
The council needs to have their head examined if they take over this albertross.....
Wonder when they going to start installing new water pipes.... what are they waiting for..... ???? ThatStinks2
The current strategy of trying to blow up all the water pipes in town is not working.
Its like riding a old car at full speed along a rough road and as the bits fall off weld them back and think you going to have a new car at the end of the road. 23_146_26
