Last night around the hour of 20H00 , Kelvin called me to his bedroom to enquire what was causing the "shrieking" noise in the dark outside our house on 6th avenue......
I explained to him that it was only the local jackals moving into the township using the cover of the night to get up to their usual mischief.....
A wail pierced the evening again, then silence....
This morning, one of my workers gave me the below pic, saying that on his way to work this morning, he noticed two young gemsboks lying under some nearby bushes at 5-6th avenue......
On close inspection he could see that they were both dead... with gaping wounds on their sides...
I initially thought Jackals...... but then why were they only scarred and not eaten? Why were their carcasses hidden under bushes.......
Something does not seem right here....
last week in the dumps, whilst taking shadow for a walk, I happened apon the carcasses of two adult Gemsboks.......... but in their case, It looked more like a fight gone wrong with two casualties......
:nono1: That's very sad. I agree, it just doesn't seem right. If it was dogs or jackals, you would've heard them. Wonder if there was a human hand to this. Shame man!
This notice appeared on the local notice board, I never realized that the number of dead Gemsboks was as high as 9.
Great to see the local council taking this matter very seriously.
