One of my favourite National newspapers, The Economist published an interesting article that mentioned Kudu Gas!
I must praise the current government from not rushing headlong into the project , but rather investigating what will become an expensive white elephant .

Namibia has one of the best solar exposure rates in the world, yet we do not take advantage of this infinite resource.
Every town should have it's own solar plant , providing direct power to the local council to sell on, that provides local employment, less power loss using long distance HT lines, cheaper in the long term to finance...., quicker to get up and running.... It's utter madness that we are still thinking about Kudu, and for one am glad that the thinkers in our government are waking up to the pitfall that is Kudu gas.......
/Ranting away, yes Kudu would have been good for our town, ten years ago when it should have been built, ironically enough, if it had been built when it should have, we would be halfway through the proven gas reserve and be back on the planning stage of a new power source.
Coupled to this, with any large scale , labour intensive project like Kudu, job creation is temporary and thereafter the local council and community are left to solve the social issues that remains behind....

A nuclear plant will be the best option there are a lot of advantages that people just don't want to understand.
With the current human population growth nothing else is going work for long.
.... and Namibia has the Uranium, The big empty coastline, with the cold water...... we could be a net exporter of energy......
but unless there is a backhander, er, uhm , facilitation fee , then the powers that be don't push any agenda....
My problem is who is going to manage these plants. The powers to be can't even run a municipality..... ThatStinks2
