While most of you are tucked up in your beds at 00:50, for my sins I consented to an "after party" at my house. After party for the Boys' High annual cabaret cast and crew. All of about 60! Of course, I have witnessed as most of you with kids much older than mine the change in parties over the years. From Barney parties with jumping castles and slip and slides to Spice Girls to thump pumping to heavy metal and finally to where I am at tonight. The neigbours must be cursing the Kroukamp's. Granny and Aunty Renee must be tossing and turning at this point and poor old Sweetness, is probably cringing and wondering if the world outside is ending! Daisy (bouncy Lab) is in her element she thinks Christimas is happening right here and now and Mack (13 year old Lab) has hidden himself in the garage under Rian's bakkie. Frank has climbed into my bedroom cupboard. "Oh dont worry Ma everyone will be finished after tonights show so they'll pass out early!" Ja right Sarah-Ann! Thanks a lot. Kids, you owe me, big time!!!! This party comes with a laptop connected to some mean looking speakers I'm told are rather powerful. I can actually feel the beat through my keyboard while typing. I think I should remove the glassware on the fire place mantle. Dont worry Rian, your stock is safe and I think after a head count there are only 60 in and around house. I dont think I will be going into my room and closing the door tonight. Will move around the perimeter of property every 30 minutes or so.

I constantly do the rounds at times like that - never trust young men around your 15 year old daughter, no matter what!!!!!!!!
Hope you could get hold of some hire-in cleaners for this morning, for you aint gonna get help from the party gang....
I'm just curious, but what time did the party finish?
idontknow

Why do we do this to ourselves. I can just picture the scene.
Don't worry hon, I will only call you muuuuuch later today. iknow
When Megz had her 17th in October, we had a live band on the patio... :birra2:
Enjoy the cleanup
Deb, I remember Sarah-Ann's 16th tooo well to. With a live band in the back yard and Mack p...ed up against the bass guitarist's amp! Not a happy chappy. Hey, still waiting for Meg's party photos. Cant wait to hear her sing too.
Hey Dalene, I have developed eyes at the back of my head. You are so right! Sometimes I think its cos we were little shits so nothing escapes us. Nice to read your posts again.
Mike, I threw out about 20 kids at around 2.30 with the help of a few older boys. No problem there. Music switched off. But then the instruments came out, 3 guitars and 3 very arty farty musical theatre kids, mine included belting it out on the lawn with their renditions of Barbara Streisand, 'ol blue eyes and "me and my (bloody) shadow" - for the 100th time, till the sun came up. I climbed into my bed at around 4. With only the chosen few (8) remaining until 11.00 this morning. These are the kids that have grown up around us. Extended family, you could say. Drove my 2 to a camp on the Vaal River, just outside Barkley Wes called Deo Gloria (Dalene, sure you know it?) at 7.00 this morning. With a match stick in each eye to keep them open and Snow Patrol blaring thru the speakers. While the extended family made a very needed "bacon and egg" breaky. One condition to consenting to this party was that they would have to wash up glasses and do major clean up this morning. Must say they all kept to their word. Very proud of them all. Good time was had by all and I knew where my girls were.
Granny, Aunty Renee and Sweetness emerged this morning looking rather weary. "R you guys ok?" "of course we fine, didnt hear them at all!" -Shame, thanks guys - Went out for lunch, came home and hit the sack!
