Title: The Fish Are Running!
Post by: Michael Alexander on December 21, 2007, 11:25:58 AM
Well, it's that time of the year again and the fish are on the run, the warmer is water down at the beach and I believe that the fishing fraternity are catching Shad and Steenbrass...... Spar has run outta Pilchards and I believe the bakkies were parked along the entire beach way into the Namibian Night. I also believe that tonight, Friday that the beach is gonna be stampvol and it's weekend......

Gosh, I remember when the mine was still open and we (or rather our dads) would go crayfish diving. We'd cook them there on the beach in sea water ... delicious ... There were so many that our fridge and freezer was full of it. Ate so much of it that we actually didn't enjoy it anymore.

Thanks for the photos Alfred. Aw, I really do miss those days. I remember how, while the dads were diving, the kids would pick up stones (tigers' eyes, agathes, etc) that we would then put in glass jars with water. Made them look like they had been polished. My parents still have a few jars full at home.
