Got to show you some of my horses....
Nice Horses, How many you got?
16 and 2 mares must foal within the month.
This one is of Mac - my Arabian stallion
Were you a member of the riding club when you lived here?
You're convincing me more and more.
Wild West!!!
I'm sure.
Are the tree's always that green.....?
No, but I did go riding sometimes. Had friends in Alex bay who owned horses and would go over there on weekends to go riding. Only bought my first horse after I got married and from there on the numbers just grew. Currently have 3 stallions that some people want to buy. Every time I sell a horse I cry my eyes out, 'cos they are like children to me. Just love them to pieces
Here's one of my daughter ( the girl on the right with the "army" cap on ) riding on the farm with her friend Jeanette.
The second picture if of her whilst participating in the competition at Boegoeberg that I have talked about recently.
... For some strange reason, horses never seemed to like me.....
I think my last post with picture gives you the answer about the trees not always so green. It's just after recent rains that the feld looks good again. Those pics were also taken on another spot on the farm, near the dam (that leaks).
Yep, Georg - I am the girl from the Wild Wild West. (I am the bar lady in the local saloon - next picture will prove it) - the blokes in the pup must be pets to, cos I feed them with dop..... ha ha ha
Aunty, I'm pleased to see you are wearing Oranje behind the bar!
You must be some wild girl... and yet the feet on the ground.
e154
Of course - I am a Cheetah Saloon Gal! (I took over the job, 'cos the barman/owner was a little sloshed --- started wearing girlie boots and sang These boots are made for walking) - check it out!
Pic 1
Now, you all know Dr. Seuss books - Cat in a Hat and a movie was also made of that. I got my own cat in a hat - Pierrewiet, the orphan kitten who had taken over the house, decided the he fits the role perfectly.
Pic 2
Dr Seuss, Green Eggs and Ham...... :sorriso2:
I can't be the only one with pets - post your pics or your stories about them here.
(That's excluding those of the spouses - I know they classify in the same category, but they can speak and feed themselves) :ciupa1: giverose
1. Oufie - my dog. Goes wherever I go on the farm and swims like a fish and has a personality problem - climbs the tree, so she must think that she's a cat.
2. Susan with Mac and B-Boy
3. Me, talking to Lavendah and trying to fool her with an empty hand. (She's still only 4 mnths old and a little skittish, 'cos she stays out in the feld with her mom. My horses are not stable kept horses.)
4. Cheska, a 1yr old foal - mare
Not sure what happened to my pics
Just love those faces. The Jack Russel looks like he can be a menace.
Coats shine - happy, healthy dogs!
Find the others and post them!

Gosh that took me ages to post and then I thought i'd lost them, thank goodness I dye my hair. No comment from you Paula laughpoint

... meet Dollar......imported from Swellendam.... about 10 years ago.... my mobile burglar alarm..... for some strange reason the the masses don't like him, and he even got a 47 year old tate to hurdle a CDM garden fence, without even touching the fence.... amazing....
Pets in Swakopmund look like that
Meet Blonde bombshell Tina , one dysfunctional mutt .. part Yorkie Part maltese , jealous , possesive , sweet , demanding , with a weight problem like Oprah Winfrey ( look at food and she blows up ) Next to her tucked up and deep in sleep , Old Jessica , now departed , lived to a good old age of 18 , from behaving like the queen Mum in her last few years
( wave " wag the tail " and smile at the crowd ) she became increasingly senile to the point that we had to help her along her final journey .. like all my animals I stay with them throughout the whole process at the vet ( it never gets easier ) then they come home and get buried in their favourite blankie along with all their possesions , food bowls , collar , leash , toys or whatever ... a toast is drunk and many tears are shed after all it is like losing a child . Tina now rules the roost like a true queen , although she gets lonely , she dreads the day a new companion happens as it will mean the is no longer the sole center of attraction ...
Sandy, just love the way you have with words.
Same silly me about the process at the vet, but he knows me so well by now, that he keeps a box full of tissues just for me. April last year my other dog, Jay - (mother of Oufie) had to be put down due to cancer. OMG - I was in such a state that day. Had to pull over from the road on my way back to the farm from Kuruman, 'cos I cried so much that I couldn't see. Dec' 2005 my oldest mare also had to be put down. I nearly caused a flood.
I talk to my animals, they 'talk' to me, we build up such a bond. Each and every horse, cat and dog on that farm has it's own special place in my heart and in my life. Every animal has it's own uniqe personality and the way you interact with them has vary according to that specific one.
What is amazing is to see the way they compare or clash amid themselves and with other species. Some of the horses accepts Oufie, the others dislike her and shunts her off with drawn back ears and a wild chase. Oufie (2ys old) know exactly who she can take on an who not. Same with her and the cats. She actually stole a kitten from a litter last year and looked after it like it was her own baby - curled up with it and let the kitten try to suckle on her. I had to steal the baby back each day to get fed by the mamma, then Oufie would just go steal it right back. Till now she protects that cat and it's alreay fully grown.
Mike - just the name German Shepard scares the crap out of most people. Personally - my own experience has prooved that they are great pets. Grew up with one and had one myself (she had to be put down about 15 yrs ago due to illness) and the love and loyalty I got from them cannot be described in words. The tate that jumped the fence will never know wether he had broken some high-jump record that day! He he

You are right , dont be ashamed of your tears, thats the case with all animal lovers and shows how much you are attached...... I personally dont like cats, gives me allergy problems....but alsations are my favorites.
I am sure Georg jun will confirm that
Here's another pic of Dollar, and you're right, he always wants to be by my side..... I took him into the shop one Saturday morning before opening, and the workers refused to come in , until I had taken him home....
...and Aunty Dalene, here's one of my daughter, Cameron riding down at the Riding Club....
Well Michael we have something in common, I am also a German Shepherd lover. The only dog to have in my mind. Will post a photo of my BOY Zak as soon as I get it to Richard.Scares the sh*t out of baddies yet so gentle with my granddaughter Morgan. It realy has to do with how you bring them up.
Yep! Yep! Like them a lot, but Michele does not want me to replace him when he goes to the big Kennel in the SKy!
Dalene , I thought about your words " I nearly caused a flood " the wicked twisted part of my mind went back to a song by Espeth Lind called " when Susannah cries " Its actually a song about betrayal but the first few lines echo a humour to when we do the flood thing .. here the words >> you have a few more expressions to use .. By the way love your garden well done for living in water scarce area .. I have two water saving devices at home .. 1. I pump all my bath water into overhead tanks and use it to flush the toilet ... 2. I have a rainwater gathering system so far 2,000 liters and when I develop the one cellar more storage .. I aim for 10,000 liters all done on the cheap using using recycled 220 L plastic drums linked to each other ...
When Susannah cries
she cries a rainstorm
she cries a river
she cries a hole in the ground
She cries for love
she cries a sad song
she cries a shiver
sometimes she cries for me too
Nice Lyrics Sandy.
sandy, you sound just like my mother with your pets - please may i come back in my next life as a pet in your household......animal heaven........ Jessica looks just like a baby curled up in her blankie, all she's missing is the pillow, so cute.......... I also had a Jessica back in o'mund, a golden Spaniel which i got from the Wilsons (jackie, paula, etc) - she was extremely protective over me and when i used to take her to the beach, she'd run like crazy all over but the minute she saw anyone in the distance approaching us, she'd run back to me, sit by my side with a low growl in her throat until she made sure that the person posed no danger to me and then as soon as they'd gone, she'd be off again jolling all over the dunes, digging around, every now and then, popping her head up from behind the dunes to check that i was still okay, and if she was satisfied that i was, she'd be off again doing her thing, chasing the seagulls..........
as a token of comfort - i also go beserk when any of my pets passes on, as mike says to the big kennel in the sky, but take my word for it from personal experience (i won't go into details here), just like our human loved ones who move onto higher realms, the bonds formed with our pets when alive are just as strong, and as with our human loved ones, they're always with us...........
Guys what awesome pics of your pets. Dalene, thanks for your comment on my garden but your life looks fabulous, nothwithstanding any challenges I'm sure. yougogirl
Our pet compliment has been reduced to 1 x african grey and 2 cats one of which is a siamese and thinks it's a dog.
We had a bull dog who passed on and then replaced him with a blonde lab. Sadly Bradley could not get on with him and we ended up giving him away. :emot78:
Julie, did you ever find out what happened to Mango & Pumpkin? - i remember they went missing.........i was working at the steakhouse one night and they arrived there. i was so surprised to see them 'cos i knew it wasn't the norm for them to be wandering around and tried to phone you or Greg to fetch them but by the time i went outside again, they'd gone. i remember feeling frantic about them but couldn't leave 'cos i was the only one there and couldn't leave the steakhouse unattended.
Now here we have Jaspa. A sweet little Pyrinian Shepard mix called Jaspa. Was almost put to sleep. That's the law in France.
1. ) My youngest and oldest girls walking the dog. You can see the frost.
2.) Resting in the kitchen after walking.
3.) Jaspa cloce-up.
4.) Our Tiger.
We still have a persion "Blue Smoke" cat and several warm water fishes.
Aren't they cute?
http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=CjHiZQyjo1c
Looks cold there, don't you need warm water to keep the fish in....? :emot19:
We only let the fish fingers swimm in winter. hahaha
How about a photo of all your brood Boy Georg. That includes the wife. hoolahoop1
The women with the red jacket is my wife. She doesn't like pics on the net of the family. So this one was just a compromice.
Two more pics of the blonde bombshell to share .. .. one after she ahd a double masectomy .. yes a dog with suspected breast cancer .. looking very sorry for herself with huge sticky dressing bandage .. dont ask what the vet and pathologist bill was !! another one a classic Kodak moment after festive season 06 lots of partying and visitors ,, lots of snacks for her .. late nights .. next morning she lying in favorite position head supported on crossbeam of chair and as I took pic did the huge yawn as if to say " enough parties now enough I'm bushed ! "
For those of you old Oranjemunders, the Wheelie bin (green one) in Georg Jnr photo of his wife, are the exact same ones we now use in Oranjemund. All the Skips have been removed from the town and the refuse removal is run bu a private group.... Every house was issued with a wheelie bin.....
So nice to see you all posting like mad in this topic.
@ Mike - so glad to see your kiddos are riding - some of the best workouts you and the horse gets.
@ Debby - thanks for the compliment. I am happiest when out in nature - lots of people envy the freedom that I enjoy on the farm - others never accustomise to not living near shops and lights etc. The veld is really looking very good now again after the rain, and has also done wonders for my "nature garden".
@ Sandy - I know that song very well (I think Kurt Darren has also recorded it about 2 years ago). About the water saving methods - we try to do the same. Bathwater and water from the sink or dishwasher does'nt go to the drain - Kannas thrive on it and sometimes the grass also benefits from it.
Thanks for all the nice pics of your pets - keep them coming. I just love to see them.
Adding a few more :
1. Mac, waiting at the gate for me to bring him his apple
2. Tiertjie - just lazing on "her" chair. Best snob you can think of - never lies down on the ground like the other cats. Even better for her when I leave the cushions out....
3. Oufie - taken when she was taking a walk with me out in the veld. Waiting for me to indicate if we are going back home or continue to walk on. Sometimes she lets her head hang down to the ground and watches me like that - like the gesture of a child when asking pretty please - then I just know that she still wants to run her heart out.
4. Oufie - stalking a grasshopper
Dalene this must be a zoo... hahaha
Yes, and I am the chief monkey in charge of all ..... :36_2_35:
Okay, I don't want to be left out
1. I am now the proud carer of this intellegent rabbit, who is much cleverer than you can imagine.
2. Batty the dear little puppy dog we had to put up for adoption when we immigrated
Hahaha ,,,, like the dog on the board, bet you could'nt get the rabbit to do that.....
we will never know, cos we have no pool in the garden.

Good thinking Bev. Could've got you in trouble and the boys confused.... :36_2_35:
Georgswa & Barb - you do go to the extreme regarding your pets! Apparrently you have no nature fobias, except for the odd bit of allergy.
Georgswa, specially that leggy, webby pet of your's - I will not visit you should you have one of those around your house. I'd rather tackle a lion bare handed, then handle a spider!
That's the spirit Bev - try till you get it right - by accident I actually got the program downloaded and can now post all my pictures.
@ Bev
Resizing
Tell me here what Picture programms you have.
I dont have the one mike has linked here since i dont need that.
Free Programm in the net i.e. Picasa. If you download that i can explain all how it works, also many other free programms available and online sizing.
Free Programm is irfan for basic pix editing and resizing download here >>> http://www.irfanview.net/
I reduce my pix to about 650 Pix in width
Then i upload them to Photo Bucket >>>>> Free of charge >>>> photobucket.com
There i get the code that i fit in here
Advantage
The pic takes no web space for our forum and is fully seen here in original
Example a close up of a bee that is 658 Pix in width

I would actually love to have a handbag like that (but the beak and teeth must still be in working order). Nobody will try to snatch my purse - get their hands bitten off! That would be neat............... (he he)

Never did Dee, I offen think of them and wonder were they ended up. That was so strange that whole thing with the dogs getting out and than just disapearing like that. I've got photo's of you, Phillip, Greg and myself in the garden one Sunday morning drinking tea, lol, with all the puppies running around us.
By the way, did Ursh and Ginger tell you they poped into my Dad's place on the 26/12. :wow1:
Mind you I'm not sure if they're back in SA yet. So great to see them, biggest surprise I've ever had.
Give my love to your mom
Hey Julie, so nice to chat to you again - can you post that photo u talking about? Would love to see it. Always lekker to see photies from the past and reminesce.
Ursie & Ging not back yet, coming home 30 Jan when I'm sure they'll have us all around to their place for a catch-up - that must've been awesome for your Dad (& u) to see some old faces from o'mund. Those two are having such a blast in their retirement - they're never home, if they' re not visiting brandon in london, they're up the west coast visiting old timers from kleinzee & o'mund.
Chat again, love to all over there..............
Too good not to mention - on Monday I will upload pictures of Pierewiet, the kitten, who has taken a serious interest in this forum. He is trying to figure out what's happening here and trying to catch all the smileys as they move - even went to the back of the screen to see where all these things are that he cannot touch. :emot112:
Computer literate cats are a common thing in this household, Michele was doing some work on her laptop at home yesterday, and Meiouw, the cat insisted on sitting between her two arms as she typed...... The cats are up to something, and they ain't as "dof" as they make out to be.... ( i had to throw in an old slang word! )
:ciupa1:
That's it.... Meiouw and Pierewiet are setting up some communication channel via the internet. Seems like they both have decided that this telepathy thing asks for too much concentration and meditation, so they gonna go about it the easy way we humans use.
For all we know your cat is inviting mine to come along to the reunion - NO that is not going to happen Meiouw, as Pierewiet is a tell-tale and will split on me with all the other cats on this farm!
Not my cat and horse on photo......
And here is Pierewiet, the O/Mund forum cat.....
That cat is waiting for the witches to come up vampire
he looks young and what a beautiful coat
Georgswa - be carefull with the comments about the witches - your wife will have to "pet" you back to good health again after "SOME" women on this forum is through with you!!!
Yes, Barb - he's about 4 and a half months old now. Naughty, spoilt little thing - even has his own pillow that he sleeps on and beware if you should try to take it away from him when he's on it!
@ Dalene
Seems you know who the witches are, i can only guess idontknow

And her she is
Hmmm - nice, that's now the two of them sharing an "apartment" I see, and hopefully not fighting about who has to tidy up (they know mamma Diana will do it for them).

Hi George, Thanx once again for your advise on "resizing my photos".......i followed your instruction....downloaded the thing you told me to .....only to find this
Q: How to reduce saved file size from XX to YY KB?
A: There is no one-click solution for that, sorry.
Ha ha ....well suppose that shows i havent followed your instruction....but....however..........here goes.........MY Ginger Cat......da daaaaaaaaaa
Your file is too large. The maximum attachment size allowed is 1500 KB. NNoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo......Back to re read your instructions george..!!!!!!
Hi Bev
Let me know which Programm you have downloaded and used to resize ???
Picasa or irfan or some other ?
If it is another, send me the link so i can install it here and try
Lately our cat, Meiouw has taken to sleeping in the strangest of places, the bath, washing basket, the kitchen sink and even the kids lunch box.....
go on Michael. You cheeted just a wee bit... swink
I think not. As my moms cat also loves the sink and try's to sleep in the tiniest of things.Strange how they pick a spot for a week then suddenly change somewhere else for another week and so on. Very cute Michael
No tricks, this happened......
She's almost 13 and looks good for her age, but I think old age, Like Paula, is catching up with her.....
"Teacher, I wanted to swop samies with Cameron today during break, but I could'nt, 'cos I'm allergic to cat hair, so I just had to eat my own samies with peanut butter and syrup." says Camerons friend after break.
faceinfood
Cameron had a Kit KAT in her lunchbox 2day!
And my pet
So this is "Bolla". Very cute
Spot on he's just a bit bigger now that was teken 11 month 2005
All I can say is "Op-vreet-baar"! I assume Bolla is also like most Jack Russels I know - spirit like no other, stamina, energy, the heart of a lion, protects what's his, but gives you TRUCK LOADS full of love!!
Alfie, is that you passed out again after one to many?

Pictures of my pets.
Goofy is very fat and old. A cross between a staffy and a pug. Pilot is my son's jack russell. Still young, too cute but very naughty. Chews up my garden, plants and sprinklers. Daxx is my favourite, wants to be near wherever I am. Sleeping on my desk, while I type. Tipsy is Daxx's brother. Tipsy has a heart condition and sleeps a lot. Tipsy because if you pick him up while he is sleeping, he just falls over asif his had too much too drink.
Sandy, our Weimaraner and Bronwyn, our farm cat. We couldn't bring them to town because my garden is too small for Sandy, and Bronwyn was born on the farm and would never survive in town. They are both used to the open spaces of the farm. Luckily our foreman and his wife our huge animal lovers so our pets still get a lot of attention, even though we aren't always there.
Very nice animals Florrie. Like your big dog.
Thanks George. She really is the greatest family pet, and a great farm dog too. Runs tirelessly after the kids on their motorbikes, jumps easily onto the bakkie (pick-up) when we drive on the farm and has a huge bark to wake us if anything moves on the farm. Also easy to groom, no long hair to get thorn attached to. Very playful with the kids and a fantastic personality.
Goofy...looks like a cartoon character!

Dear God, Why do humans smell the flowers, but seldom, if ever, smell one another? Where are their priorities?
Dear God, When we get to heaven can we sit on your couch? Or is it the same old story?
Dear God, Why are there cars named after the jaguar, the cougar, the mustang,The colt, the stingray and the rabbit, but not ONE named for a dog? How often do you see a cougar riding around? We dogs love a nice ride! Would it be so hard to rename the Chrysler Eagle the Chrysler Beagle?
Dear God, If a dog barks his head off in the forest and no human hears him, is he still a bad dog?
Dear God, If we come back as humans, is that good, or bad?
Dear God, More meatballs, less spaghetti, please.
Dear God, When we get to the Pearly Gates, do we have to shake hands to get in?
Dear God, Are there dogs on other planets or are we alone? I have been howling at the moon and stars for a long time, but all I ever hear back is the Schnauzer across the street.
Dear God, Are there mailmen in Heaven? If there are, will I have to apologize?
Dear God, We dogs can understand human verbal instructions, hand signals, whistles, horns, clickers, beepers, scent ID's, electromagnetic energy fields, and Frisbee flight paths. What do humans understand?
Dear God, May I have my testicles back?
Goofy does look weird. Has bottom teeth that stick out like a pug, and the bulging eyes. Has a body shaped just like a pug but the colour and size of a staffy. Herone eyeball has no white on the outside only brown and the other eye has white around the eyeball but then also has this brown patch of fur around that. She is also a good watch dog and the funny thing with her, once you aloow strangers in, she doesn't bark or growl at them but quietly follows them around and when the opportunity arises, she takes a bite without warning. Due to her funny teeth, the bite is never serious but really seems to unnerve them. Her biggest downfall is that she loooooves food, which seems to be a pug trait. She reminds me of my english teacher at Centaurus, Mrs Du Plessis, same build. Mrs Du plessis nickname was "Fluffy, the bulldog". She retired to Kommetjie after teaching and died shortly after, of throat cancer. Few pupils liked her, they were very scared of her but I loved her to bits. I was her pet and spent many hostel evenings helping her mark exam papers. Think of her often and wish I had the opportunity now to tell her that she was loved by some of her pupils and she meant a lot to me.
Just to let you all know I just buried my beautiful fluffy bunny Buster tonight.
Came home to find him died, had a very tearful boy on my hands, but the deed is done and life goes on, hey.
so sorry to here barb its never easy when you loose a pet, thats why i won't have anymore

Sorry Barb, terrible to console a child that has lost a pet, not much you can say to make them feel better.
Sorry to hear that Barbara......

Nice to have them in the garden, they take care of the snails that eat away all your plants.
I also have pics, will post them sometimes in my Picture Thread and tell the story behind it
Aaahhh - so you have "prickley-pets" in your garden.
Sometimes see them here in our vicinity too. Have seen some of them "flattened" on the road as well - makes me sad.
Must tell you - about three weeks ago I saw a badger in the field at night. First time I ever saw one here in our area. Don't think they are that plentyfull around here.
Are'nt they the critters that lay down in the middle of the road, just to get a lift in a VW?

:36_2_35: Ja, but I don't own a VW, so I can't give them a lift!!!!!
One of my favourite adverts
Pierrewiet - the literate cat - ready to be filed. So where do I place him - under C or P???
My newest baby - just 3 weeks old. Named Ciggar by Susan. Sire - Kanak, Dam - Misty.
The big boy - Arab (Sidi Mac Master) - Mac for short - now ready to start my breeding programme with him - his first introduction to Jennah - 3 year old mare. She will come on heat within a week, but had to put them together now. How I wish you could have seen the performance in total!
Horsie live show ?? Ek is noe totaal geskok .. en wat sou die dominiee se ??? skande skande skande!!!!!
No.... the "show" van skande will only become a reality within a week from now..... I was talking about the showing off that Mac did as an impression parade and to state the fact to Jennah that he is the stallion of the heard (with only one mare for now).
As shame - look at the way Pegasus is hanging her head on my shoulder (1st photo) as if to say "Why are you taking my Jennah away from me now - are you a pimp?" - but she has another baby (2nd photo - Pegasus and Lavender) - now 4 months old. What she does'nt know yet is that she's the next one to fall in line for a "skande sessie", and then Ciggar's mom as well!
The heavy pregnant fairy with the boep nearly hanging on the ground is Dusty (photo 3) - she wiggles like a duck on four legs - I thought her foal would arrive over the weekend, but no..........
A pimp nogal ! wat gaan al die mense se ?? or is this just a case of " match maker match maker " as in the fiddler on the roof ??
Weeelllll........... I think you could call Mac a fiddler - not on the roof, but in the veld (I could post a photo of him here showing his 'fiddlestick' to Jennah) - I should............. I think I just did
Proud boy he is indeed !!
Very Proud I'd say. Jenna may just have a headache.
Before or after? I can always ask the vet for Horsie Aspro Clear!
Dalene! Is farm life really that great in ZA, are'nt you guys always stressed? Rain and criminals?
Mike - farming is not for sissies - that's the only real answer I can give you. I think Florrie will also confirm it. This far we have been very fortunate to have not been affected by criminal activities on our farm, but one should not walk about with eyes closed - always be alert. Not to say that nothing will ever happen. On the other hand - we are not that close to the main road (have no notice bords or posts next to the road that will attract attention).
A lot of planning goes into farming: not to overstock or to overgraze - drought can harm you severely, and if you do not protect your fields and grazing, you will for sure be in trouble. Also, water is a big problem - all kinds of plans have to be made to not dry out your water holes etc. That's the main reason we make a lot of smaller ground dams to preserve some water, but then one also have to keem legislation in mind regarding blocking off water flow from your neighbours etc. Rain - that's another story. We had a very good season again from the end of last year till now, but as you can see from the photo's - the grass has already dried out - the growing season is over, so once again planning about how to graze different camps, what animals has to graze what camps in what order etc.
Still, there are not many people who have the privilage of being out on a farm and - - not every person is a farmer!

hello this is the young cat we rescued from distressing circumstances on Thursday and we can't come to an agreement on his name
he come from a place were he lived on the doorstep and was called chewy
had a week in a shed before we come and took him in
we have names like marley, bob, fred, (he is twinkle toes) neo, (he looks african and eqyptian this means trouble)but can't come to any decision personally I think AKA or catwithnoname will do
but as the only female in the house I am outvoted so what do you lot think ?
nice looking mauwser.... Mr BoJangles...... don't know where that came from..... idontknow
Nice looking at all of Georg's unusual pets .. a right old menagerie of creatures .. This morning I had another present from Tina the blonde bombshell .. I am now convinced she must havd cat blood in her or was just influenced by the presence of cats over the years ..
Tina is a very good ratter ... we seem to have a migration of the rodents ( convinced its got to do with grabage collection only once a week now ) anyhow we never resorted to bait as she would relentlessly hunt them down ( in the absence of the cats .. last one went off to the cattery in the sky 3 years ago ) same job as the cats .. kill and bring in to show you .. Anyhow last week I was having a smoke in the back lane when this creature scurried into the back gate she was after it in a flash .. one squeal .. got loose .. now into the plants .. another squeal .. out comes Tina but with no rodent ... This morning I am presented with the now dried out corpse of mouse that she must have been looking for all week .. what does she do but throw it in the air catch it and with a crunch rip its head of in front of me as if to say now " now you see I did get it " .. walk away and leave the disposal to me ......
This is what I want to adopt ...
talking about the cats .. I uncovered some pics of our cats all now long gone ..
left to right ... Kizi , Nathaniel and Bella
Nat and Bella are brother and sister from one of the many litters from the assortment of wild cats that just moved in and Kizi was a pickup helpless kitten that required rearing .. these three would always migrate together anh huddle for comfort and warmth despite the fact that they seriously pissed each other off , the same act would repeat itself over the years ,, huddle and after an hour or two one would shift in the wrong direction ( or maybe pass a wind ) then all hell would break loose hissing spitting fur flying and all scurry off in a bad mood .. a few hours later you would find them all huddled together again .. short memories hey ??
and one of the more unusual cats .. " whitecat" she was a foundling just climbed into the car while visiting friends .. travelled home , endured the " welcome" of having to run the gauntlet of the other cats untill pecking order was once again established .. a tiny wiry light as air creature .. fully grown , tough ahrd and a fighter .. when we were sure that is would stay off to the vet for checkup and injections etc .. answer as to why she was a bit distant , inattentive and had the most strange meow and howling .. she was stone deaf .. well a real cutie pie , we did not have to learn sign language aas she just seemed to have a telepathic way .. if you were looking for her she would just appear doing her raucous out of tune meow... she stayed for about a year giving us many amusing moments with her antics and then just wandered of again pretty much as i imagine she came into our lives .. most probably cadged a lift to her next home .. should have named her gypsy hey ?? a real kodak picture moment here .. enjoy ...
just looking . i see i am going to have Georg on my case about resizing .. Georg , your job of teaching just never ends hey ??

Not teaching, helping !
If wanted see here http://tagebuch.aol.de/ageorgruf/irfan/
Helping , teaching , thats always been your forte .. yes Georg , I try again ..
What happened Sandy? You were able to resize, one of the first .
Its the sprinkling of grey pretending to be blonde Diana ... actually looking into the folder they all different sizes so i just took for granted that the second was also reasonably sized ...........
Hi Sandy. Test my oldmands recomendation: Picasa. You'll get it at google. I think about 7mb. It's so easy and helps you manage all pics and clips on your PC. Simple function to better you pics as well.
I played a bit more with the office picture manager .. justa case of resizing to +- the 640 pixels width .. heres a try ..
@sandy perseverence brings succes iknow abouttime
@ Georg , Ta ..thought I would just persevere as MS office picture manager its already loaded into PC . simple open it in that mode and click resize options on % and run till it reaches required pixel width close and save .. done deal ....

Barb, he is beautiful. SPHINX comes to mind (egyptian) but could end up sounding like stinks. AMBER also, his eyes are amber.
His a lovely looking cat, like the markings on his face. Claude?
Try Kizi as I named my one foundling .. its apparently a north african word for stay or to stay .. a friend suggested it and we took it on .. check it up , i never bothered to and just accepted it as such although our maid asked why ....

thank you all for suggestions, we have settled for FRED Freddy kitten
he is settling in but did attack the vet and he suggested we have the next immunisation done while he is under anaesthetic as a result
he's really cute and very tactile, but desperate to be released on the neighbourhood - another 10 days, still under house arrest till then.
Not actually my dog, but I couldn't resist sharing this one with you.
Thanks Carl, but it's already on the site. Got a lot of catching up to do hey... hihi :36_2_35:

Nice animals, post them in LV yougogirl
Will do, Georgswa. Thanks.
Sold the one stallion (the dark brown one with the white star on the forehead) this weekend. Cried my eyes out as usual when they came to load him Sunday afternoon.
In this pic you can see him better.
I got stopped for speeding yesterday. I was still trying to talk my way out of the fine when the traffic cop saw my dog on the back seat...
Ag Shame. Got this on e-mail today. The dog survived. A vet had to remove 1347 porcupine quills from it's body.
My God, this is aweful ... poor dog ... he must have been in so much pain ... why does this not happen to all the human arseholes on this earth ???
The problem would be to get the human arsehole to stand still long enough for the porcupine to do it's thing...lol
The dog in question was apparantly defending it's territory from a porcupine that had wandered into it's garden. I think another breed of dog would have given up after the first quill, but bull terriers are known for not giving up till the end. That's unfortunately what makes them so popular among those human arseholes that arrange illegal dog fights for gambling purposes.
We could lock those arseholes in a cage with a porcupine ... :36_2_35:
After Rhona has peeled them like an apple...lol
I don't peel people; my mind is free of 'sicko'...........just fascinated by weirdos and what makes them tick
Am also facinated, not really the right word,by weirdos.Have you seen in yesterdays news aout that nutter in Austria who kept his daughter locked up in thebasement and had 7 of his kids sick! cant believe his wife never knew, idnt she ever go to the basement!!! Also hooked on Law and Order, csi,(yes I Know itsnot real!!! Also House Nip Tuck and has any one seen Lonesome Dove?? Told you I was new at this, that explains the jumping around!!!!
Pitbulls .. actually keep my mouth shut .

On the subject of pets.
We had this black labrador that we named Rex. I was talking to my mom about this site yesterday and was trying to quiz her on some information about "way back then" when we spoke about this dog.
@Mike, apparently my mom says that we got this dog from the Alexanders who lived in 1st Avenue. Was this you guys Mike? I am sure you won't remember but would you ask your dad?
Why don't you post a nice picture of your labrador Duns. After all, the topic is "pictures of my pets" ... lol
Once again, not my dog, but something for the pet lovers.
@ Dalene - any new pics of your beautifull horses pls
Got a few of the stallions here and some of Susan on Mac - must go to take new pics of the foals again.
Pic 1 - Susan on Mac - after a short ride to warm him up - working with him in the ring then.
Pic 2 - Troy - one of my young stallions out in the fields
Pic 3 - Racer - the tallest stallion - nearly 18h high at shoulder - drinking from the dam
Pic 4 - Susan on Belle on the right - teaching Isa to ride - on Misty with her foal Cigar just behind her.
Absolutely stunning - wow

@Dunja , sorry for the late response... we had a labrador, in the 70's , but he was a golden one and he died with us... Yes we were the Alexanders on 1st avenue, but for about 3 years another Scottish family also called Alexander (Mike) lived on 1st Avenue also, about 33-1st avenue I reckon, we were at E7-1st avenue.... Just thought I should show you my 3 "kids"
Tigger - More attitude than Garfield, he will tell you he's a descendant of the sphynx (mother's side), and the Laeveld leeu (father's side).
Mia - The hunter. Small but will attack anything that comes too close to her dad - just ask the Staffie next door!
Vettie (Fatty) - The most lovable cat without a tail (manx). Just want to give hugs to everybody - even the stuffed animals!
On Photo 3, which one is called Vettie? :emot19: beautiful
:emot19:
Just had to share these 2 with you of Mac - early in the morning just after sunrise!
and
the ostriches - stupid things never get out of the way - run all along the road to the gate & only then realize - oh ja, there's a moerse stuk veld right next to this road.
Just to let you know Fayes (my daughter) staffy had 6 pups yesterda and they are too gorgeous for words!!
e154
Temba is the ultra-relaxed cat. He is loved by the racing stables behind the house. Catches the rats and mice.
Shaka is the sloth fatcat. A mummies boy. Does not like exercise, hates hunting and sometimes catches a bird but can't bring himself to kill it so brings it inside ans releases it. Nice.
After being evicted from his home by the nasty Xenophobic animals, Happy the Hippo decided to try his hand at surfing in Ballito Bay, before beginning the long trek to the nearest Chomp factory.
Carl, how are you going to get your pet hippo back home again?
I left a trail of Chomps. Once he's back, I'll send him to you to patch up all his cavities.
Will need quite a drill for that! Any suggestions from any of our engineering friends?
Tungsten carbide tips should do the trick. If all else fails there's always semtex.
Thanx! Has your pet showed up yet, Carl?
Nope. Latest news I got was that he met some local surfers in Ballito and after some spinningweed decided to stay and become a beach bum.
You must be devastated, with you BIG loss. Anybody know of a good therapist for Carl - to help him through the grief period? :emot78: :emot112:

1. My life is likely to last 10-17 years. Any separation from you is likely
to be painful.
2. Give me time to understand what you want of me.
3. Place your trust in me. It is crucial for my well-being.
4. Don't be angry with me for long and don't lock me up as punishment. You
have your work, your friends, your entertainment, but I have only you.
5. Talk to me. Even if I don't understand your words, I do understand your
voice when speaking to me.
6. Be aware that however you treat me, I will never forget it.
7. Before you hit me, before you strike me, remember that I could hurt you,
and yet, I choose not to bite you.
8. Before you scold me for being lazy or uncooperative, ask yourself if
something might be bothering me, or that I might not understand what it is
you want. Perhaps I'm not getting the right food,or any food or water, or I
have been in the sun too long, or my heart might be getting old or weak.
9. Please take care of me when I grow old. You will grow old, too.
10. On that sad and difficult last journey, go with me please. Never say you
can't bear to watch. Don't make me face this alone. Everything is easier for
me if you are there, because I love you so. Tell me goodbye with your
presence, no matter how difficult it is for you, remember, it's worse for
me....
Take a moment today to be thankful for your pets. Enjoy and take good care
of them. Life would be a much duller, less joyful experience without our
four legged critters~
Now please pass this on to other pet owners. We get so much from our four
legged pets who sadly live shorter lives than we humans. We need to make
their lives as well as our own a mutual relationship that has no comparison
with other relationships. Your four legged friend will not divorce or leave
you. You don't need to wait for Heaven, to be surrounded by hope, love, and
joyfulness. It is here and now on earth and has four legs!
Seen this little doggy prayer before .. but each time I read it it has the same effect .. a lump in my throat and a tears welling in my eyes .. I can relate to so much in it .. .. my "children' over the many years of my life journey have always had this prayer answered .. and have in turn given me on average 18 years of friendship unconditional ...
Look how much Ciggar has grown and how tame he has become in the meantime. Just a few pics I took on the weekend of the mares with foals and Mac having a jolly good time amongst them.
Pic 1 - Mamma gets a 'kiss' from Ciggar
Pic 2 - Jennah has to get her attention - she will die (so she thinks) if she is not petted and hugged and rubbed.
Pic 3 - Good Friday (remember, she is the one who has her birthday with Diana's granddaughterwith mamma Dusty) - she looks like a little wooly mammoth in winter.
Pic 4 - Nearly everyone lined up for the pic - closest to me Jennah, then Pegasus, then Lavender, then Cigar, then Cheska. Mac stading behind them on guard (his heard of mares, you know). Misty on the left - her head just visible. Dusty and Friday in the background.
You can send Good Friday down for Morgans next Birthday. She just loves horses and even has the correct posture when sitting on a horse. She can even sleep in my room with Zak.
So I will have to start house training her then! At least you will have horse sh**t to use for fertelizer in the garden. ha ha ha
Have to post this...
Poor girl got bit the other day. We have to keep her from opening the stitches.
Had an emotional afternoon . went through to Diana and she took me to her daughters place yo look at the scotty pups .. well deal sealed .. Tina whether she initially does not like it needs a new friend ... the little girl bonded immediately ,, I asked the mother dogs permission .. if I could take her child .. .. for her the time is there .. they now seven weeks old .. Pup even enjoyed the car journey home .. of course there is truama in the house now .. Tinas nose is very out of joint gave me one ook as if to say " make it go away " ... and the pup has suddenly realised she now in a new and strange place .. no comfort of mommy and her brother and sisters ... just this blonde bitch staring her down and not giving her any comfort .. so she sitting in a corner .. and Tina staring at her .. Ive done the talking and reassuring .. and must now leave them to sort it out .. I will post a pic as soon as pup comes out of hiding ... Its time for renewal in my life and this is one of the steps ...
Oh and yes they not pets .. I bought my composting ... worm farm today as well ... to dispose of all kitchen veg and fruit scrap .. making our own compost and worm tea .. ( good liquid fertilizer ) aslo saving on stuff going into landfill long term ..
Good news .. The Tina after an hour or so suddenly started playing with Morag ( yes thats her chosen name ) lots of activity .. Morag eventually quite wet from Tinas gentle nibbles and nudges ... they both eaten supper been out for pee and poo although Morag has done neither of the two .. she now fast asleep ,, I await the pee and poo explosion later .. its housetraining time and newspaper scattered around in the hope she explodes on that at least .. just gonna have to be patient and deal with the odd mishaps untill she gets into the routine of outside trips ... and yes walk around ever so carefully .. nothing worse that dog poo oozing up between ones toes ... I tokk one pic so far of them playing .. but left my camera lead at work .. so cant post any pics yet ...
By the way Jnr .. love the pic of your child with the Elizabethan collar on .. I want to ask one question ... which TV channels does she pick up now ???
So Sandy, how was Morag's first night at her new home? Any unpleasant 'packages' lying around this morning? Don't keep us waiting too long before you post the photo.
Nope No packages .. she pees on the newspaper scattered around ,, and yes lots of little walks into the lane .. each time now its a pee and a poop and lots of praise .. so she learning quick ..
Hey Sandy. That's a cute dog.
Its a cute little scotty dog .. I now have a blonde and a black dog .. leaving work early .. ( got stomach bug ) so will see who's killed who when I get home ..
Oh Sandy - she's gorgeous - so cute man........lucky Morag........please can i come back as a puppy to your household in my next life..........oh pretty pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeze?
Me thinks the bug could be a case of nerves at the thought of the new baby at home all alone with Miss Jealous????
4 am this morning .. got woken up by crying pup noises .. gave her toilet roll to play with .. have been to vet to get toys .. now got a varirty but gets bored so quickly ..
@ Sandy - in front of their own heater, nogal! Just like my 3, they also have their fin heater - even lie in front of it if it's off, must be all in the mind! cat1.gif
Oh Sandy - that is the cutest little scotty I've ever seen cuqui
Hello Morag Granny here, I see you have a lovely new home and that you are going to be totaly spoilt. Is that Uncle Pauls shorts I see you sleeping on.
Just finished coping and pasteing these photo's to my album.
Yes granny D .. as said ... I fell asleep on his lap .. the scent of my Mommy and my brothers and sisters was still on them .. so he gently slipped out of them leaving me to kip on them .. but hey !! guess what ?? I have taken over Tinas day bed , she sleeping with daddy S and Uncle P ( psst she takes turns one night paul and other night she goes upstairs to Sandy .. does that mean she's a slut ?? ) ... Daddy S has left the heater on last night and tonight .. ( thanks god i not paying the power bill ) its all just to help with my settling in .. Auntie Tina is a real blonde bitch . and shouts in my ear regularly and has stolen my baby chewies ..wont touch hers just collects them . wants to play with me but on her terms ( whats so wrong with my terms ?? ) but dont worry i will gow up big and strong and then we'll see hey ?? I get walked all the time .. its called the pee and poop parade .. every time i deliver in the lane then I get praise .. if i do it in the house they say nothing , just sigh , clean up and put down newspaper , but hey I always try to get to the paper just dont make it sometimes ... the place looks like a bomb hit it , newspaper everywhere .. I like the walks .. and i played in the garden today .. so many little nooks and crannies to run around in and plants to tug on .. again nothing said .. they must really love me .. Tina ?? well I'll deal with her later ... Love Morag
cuqui they been playing this evening .. Tina makes nice low sounds as they roll and run around Tina has the upper hand in that she just sits or lies on the little one but gets her bum bit .. .. its difficult to catch the Kodak moment .. so I just got two pics .. they both still playing and both getting very tired .. Tina is having second childhood and enjoying it ... even tolerates the nipping with the sharp n'little teeth ..
Oh yes and excuse the Chaos .. little one has commadeered a shoe and assortment of socks to play with as well .. and of course the newspapers with pe puddles all over the place ... when she big enough to jump out hatch and learnt proper bladder control the newspapers will go ..
allgood We all know the joy's of parenthood to small doggies! Hooray for Tina - her coat is real shiny and she looks real happy to put up with the youngster.
cuqui Ag man sooooooo darn cute,I'm so pleased they getting along.
Its now the other way around .. Tina wont let up with Morag she tired want to have a nap and Tina does not want to stop playing ... Morag trying to hide from her now .. the sound Tina is making is most interesting a sort of low crooning soft play growl noise ..
Looks like the Buchanan kids are really getting together well! Didn't expect any different - they're showered with love. Well done daddy Sandy! So glad for you, I'm sure they'll be inseparable soon.
@ George jnr - re your babe with the ever so glamorous collar - my cat had one not so long ago, it's so funny to watch them try and back out of it - they think if they keep going backwards long enough, they'll escape it. she got clever tho', never underestimate animals - when she got really gatvol of this contraption around her neck, she'd go under caryn's bed and hook it on the springs and pull - of course it would spring open - freedom............check her run and hide until here i come with that dreaded radar dish..............
cuqui cuqui cuqui cuqui cuqui cuqui cuqui cuqui cuqui cuqui cuqui cuqui cuqui cuqui cuqui cuqui cuqui cuqui cuqui cuqui
@ Sandy
Congratulations and all the best wishes with your new addition. Soooooo cute and MOrag a lovely name
I am sure you will all be very happy
I've been contemplating getting a dog but I can't get over the dog poo issue that I know i'll have to deal with.......
any words of advice to get over this.
Walk carefully .. patience .. love .. understanding .. encouragement .. they get through their irresponsible phase quickly .. me raised lots of pups .. so very used to it .. strange how the name came to me .. we were at Mandy's and Diana asked me what you ging to name her .. its as though somebody prodded me from behind and the name Morag just came out .. Diana then suggested Morgan and we went to Morgana .. but Morag just fitted well and its what came without thinking .. so she got a lovely old celtic name ..
Yea but for a life time you have to carry a plastic bag about to scoop up all the poo.
Twice a day in the garden and for ever on nature walks.
Too true .. just routine for me .. I got poop scoop for lane walks and clearing the garden .. the bag is a bit of a hassle for street walk but on nature walk i just kick it into the bush where it will surely do some good as it breaks down ..
Little one is learning quick Granny D ... she now hauling herself up steps .. the most funny part is the downward trip .. it stands growls and then launches herself down .. sort of i imagine the growl being to get over the initial fear .. both Tina and Morag are now played out , exhausted and sleeping ..
Mommy "Molly" went to the palour to-day, looking oh so grand. She came with to fetch Morgan and even Zak was impressed. Will try and get a photo for you. Looks like they keeping the big lug of a male. I realy wouldn't mind him, would call him Rocky, but Ian has rely taken to him and he was the one Morgan always carried around. I suppose she should have one of her Babies.
Decided to do a search for Morags name this came up .. Not a top ranking name .. but then that sets her apart .. And methinks Morag Buchanan sounds quite grand ... and if she were a people she would have the characterisitics described .. seems to echo some of my characteristics ??

Update .. pee parade improving with no need for any discipline or shouting .. just coaching .. 90+ % of time pee and poo on newspapers and outside on walkies .. fact is the little tyke has a huge appetite for food and play .. now discoverd the joy of the bark ... and now stairclimbing .. falls down steps regularly on downward path but always gets up unscathed .. and learns each time .. got a cute pic of the two sleeping together .. most times she spends night alone as Tina like the bedrooms .. strangely enough no whining or feeling lonely .. quite independent she is ...
Ha ha - makes me think of something I read today. Babies bring light to your life - specially after 10 at night! Hope you not going to work with swollen eyes & tired because of all that 'baby-parades'.
Nope Morag sleeps throught the night .. thats after playtime .. she just started with tina now .. growling and cajoling her into play .. then its activity and then flop down ..
She's looking quite a bit bigger already. Granny D is collecting all these photo's.
Yes growing .. gets lots of small meals througout the day .. and now she also doing a lot more napping .. supposed to be rest for growth after activity .. milk teeth starting to look a bit raggedy .. so in the near future those sharp needlelike things will disapear and no more painfull chewing of the hands and ankles and toes ..
Remember, there's a tooth fantasy-18 for dogs too, hey!
@ Bertie Horak - Here's something you will laugh at, my gran who is 86 while in hospital, the side of her face was swollen and her sister who is about 78 said to her " Cath, is it not your wisdom tooth that is comming out image201
Julie and I just lookied at each other and peed ourselves laughing. ha ha Shame 78/86 and still waiting for their wisdom teeth. 202
@ Paula - ha ha
I had a case of a lady who got a wisdom tooth at 76! So don't laugh too hard! Suddenly appeared under her denture!
msn emoticon (12)
image201 image201 gosh she's a late developer ha ha
My grans was a stone in her spit gland that actually worked it's way through her gum and popped out into her mouth?
hammer
@ Paula - I've seen that too - quite cool and easily removed with immediate relief! It's called sialolithiasis - there's a new word for you? Very common in the parotid gland (the one that swells when you have mumps). Its duct opens in the cheek next to your first big top molar and is visible with the naked eye if you go look in the mirror.
Yeuch - what am I teaching you?
trex-073
"Yeuch - what am I teaching you?"
idontknow
"sialolithiasis" sounds like some or other STD! (do you get danger pay?)

Guess what auntie D ... Morag had her first swim today ... has been curious about the fishpond especially Shogun the huge Koi .. this afternoon leant too far forward and sploosh in she went .. immediately went into doggy paddle mode .. so at least she got natural instinct .. she has been playing all over the garden .. gettting really dirty ... .. a towell dry and she in fine form , in fact not even truamatised by her adventure .. Tina not in the mood for playing as she hurt a paw chasing after a cat so she chasing us around and chewing feet ...

Had a very sad day yesterday; we had a cat here at the business school that wandered in and just adopted us. We mooched food from various vets and he was well looked after and loved by most people here. Yesterday we found him collapsed and screaming with pain and unable to walk as his back end didn't function. Rushed him to a vet who diagnosed Saddle Thrombus; a blood clot that cuts off blood flow through the aorta and is usually indicative of heart disease. We agreed that although it could be treated (expensively) it would recur and if it happened over a weekend for eg, he would be in terrible pain that it was kinder to put him down. Very, very sad and real feeling of mourning at the school! Hopefully, another feral cat will wander in from the V&A Waterfront and adopt us.
Indeed sad Cherry , we the ones who have to make the choice .. .. years ago our one male cat Sylvester had the same thing .. cvame home and found him back legs paralyzed and yes sreaming in pain.. rushed him to vet .. they gave options .. I took the one of trying .. one hell of a gamble .. they put him on blod thinning drip . for a couple of days and after two weeks of stay at the vet I got him back .. back legs still paralyzed . but at least his rear section was not icy cold as it was when the blood clot struck .. it took almost 5 months of rehabilitaion before he walked properly again // every day we lay him down and massaged the legs and then pushed them .. meanwhile he was quite happy .. only had to be picked up to go up steps .. he would drag himself around .. manageing to get up to do his ablutions .. mst amusing was the going down the steps .. one would hear the floppy legs going doof doof as he went down .. when he needed to come back insde he would simply call . if no reponse he would go into the small kennel we put outside for shelter .. anyhow therapy slowly became short wobbly walks between two people and then one day he did the surprise thing and got up and walked without prompting wobbly but within a week got all the muscles and nerves talking to each other properly .. Cherry you took the best choice there what we did was not easy and lots of days we felt despondent and wondered if we had made the right choice .. but yes thats life we make choices and take gambles .. some pay off some dont ..
Wayne WIlson asked me to put the following images up for him, not sure if these are his pets or what, but here you go Wayne...add your comments....
With some comments..."am going to send you a few pics of my latest children,i spend about 3hrs a day with them, hope you are getting some of the emails that i am sending you, regards WAYNE WILSON."
..
...
Isn't this topic caled pictures of my pets Michael??
cat1.gif
Those Kitty Cats are Waynes pets.
Big times .. Morag learnt stairclimbing .. up to my bedroom .. and this aftrenoon .. weel the potluck lunch wentoff damm well and the kids ofthe neighourbood wanted to see the new child ... got lots of pics ... but later .. right now me pissed and need a nap ...
Granny Di is waiting for the pics.
The flight stairs .. daunting for a nine week old pup .. but she defies all obstacles .. bashed open the barrier from dining room and squeeled her way up the flight of steps to my bedroom and got rewarded with well sleeping on the bed .. I think i have set a precedent ?? the neighbourhood kids wanted to se her so aftre lunch brought morag across .. she was spoilt rotten ,, that apart from having the opportunity to chew tender young hands .. a couple of the kids needed plasters ...
More .. i had to laugh at Bruces daughter .. the litle blonde one .. she carried Morag around a lot at one stage .. Morag was chilled and lying showing her bare belly .. child was fascinated with her bare belly .. pointed to the little nipples counted them and then got down to her toot and asked is that another nipple ?? I had to split my sides with laughter ..
Looks a nice neibourhood Sandy. Multi-culti as we would call it here...

Hey wow. Sounds like fun Wayne.
In the meantime I've realised that you have something to do with lions. I'm not sure whether it has something to do with making a living.
HI GEORG,NOT REALLY PART OF THE JOB I WAS EMPLOYED TO DO,JUST SOMETHING I WAS ASKED TO HELP WITH AND HAVE MADE IT A MISSION TO REABILITATE THE BABIES,OR THERE IS NO CHANCE FOR THEM OUT THERE IN THE RESERVE.(THEY WOULD NOT SURVIVE)SO TO ANSWER YOUR QUESTION,NO I DONT GET PAID A SALARY TO LOOK AFTER THE LIONS.IM DOING IT BECAUSE I FEEL THAT I CAN GIVE THEM A CHANCE TO SURVIVE.WAYNE.
I just went back in the topic and saw that Mike posted the pics for you.
The two chewing away at their lamb shank bones from my dinner last night .. they were very content .. kept on swopping bones ..
Sandy, in my next life I would like to be one of your doggies, or one of my kitties for that matter! They seem to have the most wonderful carefree lives. Mine also have their own heater, each with their own cushion. This morning I didn't have any of their favorite tins of fancy feasts left (even though there's 3 other bowls with chewy bites to choose from), so I had to quickly cook them their second bestest breakfast - chicken livers in a bit of oxtail soup!
People think I'm 23_146_26, but hey, they're my kids! cat1.gif cat1.gif cat1.gif
Next life I want to be a cat.
Pictures of the latest additions to the family taken earlier this year.
Will post updates later
@ Clive - Now how can one NOT love those little faces? cat3
Our thoughts exactly
they are bigger now, I will post more pics later.
awwwwwww check the beauty spot on the paw... Agh mommie! Your kitties are beautiful Clive :-)
Two cute ones from this afternoon .. Morag lying flat on her back one of her new favourite positions ... next one .. growing up .. ears are slowly becoming more upright and the snout developing its length ...
Hahahahaha... I see clive is still wearing a pager..... 202
Pager, its my camera, and how do you know it me & not my boet ???? image281
Two last bedtime ones .. playing in front of the fire .. note Tina even allows the little one to climb all over her .. aah ! the joys of her second puppyhood ..
She has grown so....I've got a whole Morag album going here.....brag photo's like a proper granny should. Need not have worried so Tina's taken well to her
Grown and yes now so full of shit !!
hello
Sandy love the puppy updates
had to boast with a picture of Freddy-no-bell,
our egyptian looking cat we adopted.
here he is looking down from the conservatory roof
he is sooooo vain loves having his picture taken
got to love him
What a cutie Barb - and such a poser cat3
Indeed a poser Barb .. so cute ..my two have now been playing on and off for 3 hours plus ( damm energy where does it come from ?/ ) ... must say i see all sorts of dynamics coming in .. the little one now becoming jealous of my attention to Tina .. extremely happy to see one coming home .. and as for Tina .. well she as a society blonde has always had this skin condition ..( must be a result of the chemicals her secret doggy hairdresser uses to get that nice shiny blonde look ) Ive had to buy special shampoos 100 bucks a throw and tablets to control irritation plus a variety of diets ( special foods for sensitive skin ) .. since the Morag has moved in suddenly her skin condition improved dramatically .. no flareups ( despite her secret touch up sessions with doggy hairdresser ) I think its a combination of joy coming into her life .. plus she been on the same diet as the pup .. normal woolies posh pet wet food and woolies pup pellets ... .. she not had a bath for 2 weeks now as a result of the inclement weather smelling a teensy bit ripe but then so does Morag .. they two happy ripe smelling dogs playing rough and tumble .. so if that works they will eat the same unless things change ...
Morag had her first visit to the doggie doctor ... Dr Kathy very happy with her condition she growing well .. and tells me I'm lucky to get a Scotty.. they hard to get at the moment (thanks Granny Diana ) anyhow the deworming and first set of vaccinations ... bougth her first collar and leash as well ......
Picture of my cat, Prince, a couple of months before circumming to feline aids, contracted as the vet said in Namibia before we brought him down to CT. Was sad to see him deteriorate so quickly.
Been through the whole gamut of pet ilnesses .. Sylvester our one male till he was debollocked had feline clap , hepatitus and any other "socially " transmittable ilness ... worse was the group of feral female cats that adopted us when we moved in initially ... there was a rogue gene .. carried by the dominant male in the area .. their noses wold literally rot off .. a form of herpes ... not nice .. I had to put down 3 with the same thing .. hectic antibiotic treatment would keep it at bay but eventually i would come back with venegance .. but as always i always spoke to themand told them that there was nothing more i could do .. invariably they gave me the nod and allowed me to help them to kitty heaven ...
Know exactly what you mean. Nice to have found a vet that cares enough to not even charge, just helps when he knows that all thats left is pain and no quality of life.
Prince was given to me already named Princess, until we discovered a set of nuts and promptly changed the name to Prince.
Buried him deep in the corner of the garden, Planted an Alexander Palm ( Renamed, at least in our garden as a Prince Alexander Palm) over him.
Over the past 25 years have buried a number of "companions" and it does'nt get easier.
Yes Clive or garden is a veritable ' pet cemetry " all interred with their blankies , bowls , leashes or whtever belonged to them ... and yes it never gets easier even i do the whole journey each time at the vet out of respect for their unconditional love ... and yes for what i felt for each one ..
By the way Granny D .. I req uire Morags birthdate . for her vetinary records ...
Help !! Granny D I'm sure that a Tasmanian Devil cub got somehow mixed up in the litter of pups .. what I got was supposed to be a scotty what has emerged is a creature that shrieks and howls just like a Tasmanian devil ... you dont even want to hear it when she throws a shitfit over any old thing ... more so if she does not get her way ... or feels slighted
No only joking she an absolute pleasure .. just very feisty .. probably why you recomended her to me .. i enjoy the high spritedness , so does Tina .. they got a shinbone each .. start of the luverly stew I made .. looked at them and well gently fired the bones with a bit of meat left on in olive oil cooled down and well they still chewing away after removing the marrow and meat ...
Got a pic of the Tasmanian Devil and Tina doing tug 'o war with one of Morags toys .. amazing Tina has regressed 10 years ..
Sandy, Im waiting for Mike or Pete tell me that someone has discovered all these animal graves in the garden at 26-12th Ave in Oranjemund. With the cats ducks rabbits etc I was running out of space to bury pets.
As you say each in its blanket and or box.
Someone is going to be spooked into thinking all kind of ritual went on.
Clive .. my garden the same ( strange rituals ) .. I'm right now sitting with the Morag on my lap .. so strange .. I gave Tina a bath this afternoon 3 weeks a bit long for Yorky x dog she now all fresh .. the Morag still has her scent .. now part puppy / mommy and yes slowly getting riper by the week , but i will leave the bath for her till she more grown up and not need the pup scent as defence ...
Morags latest adventures .. have not posted pics lately but realised how the little tyke has grown .. she used to have a hideyhole in the garden ,, this morning saw er trying to get in .. ha ha .. realisation ... anyhow Dr Bertie ..she foraged in my bag i take to work and found my Olive tabs ... got the container open and cos she likes green stuff .. ate a few .. needless she did not require her second deworming session ... she had a major cleanout .. was drinking tons of water and dropping snowcones like mad .. her now settled recent stools have not a trace of worm .. I put her collar on for the first time today .. she now sulking .. well if she wants to go for walks out of the lane area she gonna have to get used to it .. policedog-small
@ Sandy - Morag's into herbal meds hey? Good doggy! sorriso2
Well I'm glad it did good anyway. Talking about they Olive tabs - found my oldest girl kitty (Mia) stripping the leaves off my Bonsai olive tree with her teeth the other day. I was not amused! Well, I just took the plant away - can't blame her, she seems to know when she needs something - very often does the same with my herbs outside, especially the Lavender, Mullein and St. John's wart. cat1.gif
Bertie
Charmain
Yes Bertie a good deworming she had .. the vet just laughed . when i told her yesterday .. anyhow i got a few snaps of pisspuss cuqui as we were sitting in the lane sunning ourselves ... she has grown .. coat is changing and she getting the brindle .. now got beautiful eye make up .. grey eyebrows .. a sort of silery gold in the undercoat ...
observe the length of the snout getting nice and long .. i tease her and say " who'se got the big mouth ?? " and if one pans up one can see the coat undertones ... save and put into any other program and then zoom in ...
Yes and before anyone says .. Tina is on a diet again . she has become Blossom Broadbeam again .. i spoilt her a bit with food since the Morag arrived .. with the obvious consequneces .. now that all is settled in nicely her daily intake being slowly and gently reduced .. she lost almost 1 kilo already ...
Beautiful. And all looks so happy together. Must say, that little face says "mischief" to me!
Mischief ... she a horror .. digs now .. got into the one trough we use for rescue ... Ie : a chicory just thrown in and yes growing .. a turnip top that was actually growing .. again the green lover dug them out and ate them ... strangely enough she has the same love for cruciferous and bitter veg as tina has .. broccoli stalks are green bones .. brussel sprouts are a round treat and get demanded when i opent the punnet ... I cook all my veg in oliveoil a snip of water to just steam with only a smatering of herbal salt so any leftovers are also included in their meals ..
Awe man can't believe how big she's got...looking like mommy Molly. Uncle Pauls baby I see. Granny Di has copied and pasted.
Just realised i got 5 nights sleep and then i do not see the Tasmanian devil for almost 3 weeks , wonder how much she will grow and change in that time period ,, anyhow she will be in good hands .. Pauline my sis in law flying in sat morning to do the house sitting , a break from the dry awful gauteng province ... will take one or two pics before I leave ,, and compare ...
I hope SandyB that you have warned Pauline abut the dognapper waiting in the wings to spirit the little munchkin away; it was close last weekend until Paul stepped in!!!! image14
I took Shadow down to the beach for learners lessons..... hope he can drive soon seeing that his paws can reach the pedals already....
sorriso2
I could be wrong - but that doesn't look like Shadow on the beach to me!!! :nono1:
I hope thats your study and not Michelles lounge.
'Study' ... that's not a study. The only book I see in there (on the floor next to the TV) must be Mike's last purchase on how to deal with so many women at home. The rest looks like DVD's and I dare not ask what kind of DVD's women(1)
@ Mike, sorry if I missed previous information, but where does your love for the Cheetas come from, were you at school in Bloem?

Michele doesn't have a lounge - just a Cheetah den!

Aaaagh! Thats the wrong picture.....The bloody dog tricked me again!...wait till I get to work..I'll get the right pic.... cuqui
Here a pic for Mike and his favorite team
I'm so heartsore ,,, I was sitting at Singapore airport last night after an amazing holiday , with my one highlight being that i would be able to see my two dog children again .. waiting for my connecting flight when i got a sms from Pauline saying that Morag had done a bunk , she was spitting mad that I had gone away , and was extrememly rebellious towards Pauline .. she must have just skipped out when Pauline was putting out the grabage bins yesterday morning .. we putting up flyers and doing the whole thing and yes praying for her safe return ... what a bummer ..
msn emoticon (68) to hear about Morag Sandy but I'm sure that she'll soon sense that you're back and she will be barking outside your front door waiting to be let in. I really hope so!
Welcome back anyway, we've missed you on the site - can't believe you're holiday went past so quickly! You'll have to post some photo's to make us all jealous!
allgood
Hey Sandy I am so sorry to read about "madam". Say Saint Anthony and then walk around the neighborhood and call her. I am sure she will hear your voice. Contact your local vet and tell her/him what happened and phone the SPCA they normally are great with things like that. Hope you had a smashing time, can't wait to see the pictures and we missed you!
Good luck and thinking of you
Kaye
PS Saint Anthony is the patron saint of lost things. It really works!!!!
Sorry about that Sandy
Thats one of the reasons why i will never again have pets, going on holiday is always a problem
Hope to get your report from the holiday in the my holiday section
Hope she comes back soon Sandy - i know the heartache of a missing pet - can't focus on anything else. Thinking of you.
Yes Delia very focused on this now .. despite being on the move for 24 hours with shitty sleep on the last leg I have summoned up energy for this mission of trying all possible to find her .. .. worse for me is th fact that i had a very vivid dream the night before i journeyed back that I was battling to find Morag .. i should have taken heed and phoned pauline to take extra care on the last day , hell man the difference one day can make ... worse so is that when i got the message at Singapore airport , I just went schtum and did not even tell Paul cos he would have cracked up there and then on the airport , so i had to keep up a brave face making as though all was ok , meanwhhile feeling so helpless inside ,, thousands of miles away while a drama is playing itself out .. I told him this morning after we got through customs and were waiting for my Sis to pick me up .. the reaction was as i expected ,, disbelief tears , anger , all mixed toghether .. I have two situations to deal with , a good friend who is in pain as he loved Morag to bits and that he feels let down by Pauline unfortunately allowing it to happen and also trying to face up to it myself meanwhile i have gone into autopilot and actually very numb ...
Georg yes some pics will come ,, but when i am more focused ...
Right now i think i will take Tina for a nice walk to try clear my head ... and yes my animal friends ,, no matter what happens and how many i will say goodbye to in my lifespan will never stop me from loving and taking new ones into my life when the moment is right ..
Sandy - big hug to you - i had such a lump in my throat reading your post now. You and Morag will have a special place in my prayers tonight.
OH NO.....I'm devastated....in tears right now and thinking of you and Paul. Our baby....don't give up.....she WILL be found. ( I just feel it)
loves and hugs
Welcome back home, Sandy!
So, have you found the cuqui Morag yet?
Horray Sandy's back - welcome- so happy you back, unfortunately your holiday probably feels a million years ago with this situation.
Please find the wayward wanderlust dog - here's my prayer, hey I'll even ask St Anthony for help.
Morag where are you, here girl, wheee feee that's me whistling - bloody youngsters of today - think they can go off and do as they please.
I have told my cat Fred, to ring me on his mobile if he's going to be late or gets lost, but NO no respect for my feelings.......................
Sandy love you babe, hope it works out for you and all involved.
Sandy, so sorry to hear the bad news. It must be difficult for you, I know how I would feel if one of my three would disappear!
BUT....
I have the same feeling as Diana - I'm sure you'll be reunited!
nope nothing yet.. just woken up from an exhausted 4 hour sleep ..going to have a nice bath take some melatonin to get sleep pattern back into synch.. have a nice bath sleep and pray for help and see what tomorrow brings ...
Hi there, you've walked her round the area ....so she should find her way home. Love you lots will chat about your holiday later.
Diana .. she such a cutey pie and also very attracted to children .. so my feeling is she has been picked up .. just hope somebody will have the decency to advertise that they have found her .. my aderts going into the argus and cape times tomorrow .. will be doing a post box drop throughout the area tomorrow as well ...
I have been doing sreet for street drops of posters in post boxes ,, I seem to have a lead .. a lady a few streets down saw a vagrant couple with a small black dog ... i am going to pick her up now and she will show me their last location .. hold thumbs .. keep hope ... deal with disapointment if it not so ...
Hi SAndy. Nice to see you're back. Had a nice holiday??
Hi Jnr .. yes had a fantastic and relaxing holiday .. only my anticipated joyous homecoming marred by Morag escaping ...
Anyhow I did the ride around with the girl that said she saw Morag with a vagrant couple ... we could not find the couple but saw others and gave them flyers as well ... they have a network .. lets see what happens .. furthermore I had two phonecalls straight afterwards from people confirmng they saw the vagrant couple with her .. so she in the area .. I will take a relax from my street to street drops now as my butt is tired from all the walking .. then carry on .. HOLD THUMBS FOR ME AND MORAG !!
Bestest news under the sun ... The Vagrant / Bergie network worked damm well ... I got a voice messsage at about 19:30 .. just a voice saying .. " meet me at corner of Chamberlain st .. your dog is alive and well ... I rushed down .. thers this creature with tattoos etc .. standing by somebodys bakkie ( he borrowed the phone ) ... well off we went .. from one it turned into 2 .. eventually 3 bergies in my car .. all giving directions and recollections and naming the couple ... and then the hunt started .. welll what an adventure .. here was I taking my life in my hands .. trusting these guys .. crawling through bush etc .. finding informal settlements I never knew existed in our area ... I stopped at house and got my ciggies and some beers and we continued the hunt for the couple ... They have spoore through the bush .. the guy that phoned me ( Mark ) explained all about the spoore .. so here were we again going through bush ( Gawd I am taking my life in my hands but yes I'm determined ) more asking around .. more walking through bush .. back to car try another area .. meanwhile they suping beer and smoking away in my car .. me i had one too whhile driving around .. onside of car looks like a damm whorehouse now .. anyhow another climb through some barbed wire in bush and we come upon a shelter tent like thing ... they call out the n ame of the couple .. they answer .. in we go full attack .. two of my guides donnered them and extricated Morag .. my baby safe in my arms now pees all over me .. and she filthy ... we walk away from the shelter with much swearing and threats .. but all that matters i i got my Morag safe and sound ... got her home safe and sound .. then took the three down to wooddstock .. got them 3 burger takeouts .. and drew money for reward ... Mark the leader R 400 and the others that helped with tracking 250 each ... a damm sight more than they ever expected ( they were expecting what a hundred or so ?? ) ... I expressed my eternal gratitude and gave each a huge hug .. and they expressed gratitiude for my actually trusting them ,, they said not many people would do what i did and that I must have a lot of love in my heart to go to such risky extremes ... they happy .. I dropped them off at some dive where they obviously going to party and rut their asses off ... they celebrating and so am I .. I have a nice fat cigar and a good glass of wine as i'm sitting here .. leaving Morag to now calm down .. Love , determination , persisitence , belief in people with good intent , trust in the better of the universe ,,, it all pays off ... Now to wash the errant little bitch ... she damm filthy ... Thanks to all for good wishes ,, God , my Mom and Johnboy whom I asked for help to guide me to her ....
Congrats Sandy, with all your efforts you are finally rewarded with succes.
Very nice story, almost ripe for a film
Take Care
Thanks Georg .. its part of the values driven in by good parents and yes life guides like you .as you have noted i have never forgotten what you gave me although it took years to realise .. persistence ,, never give up .. strong belief and values .. etc ... Im so happy now .. she bathed and clean , surprisingly her tummy is full so the vagrants that picked her up were at least kind to her .. actually I see lts of them with their dogs in their " transport " that being shopping trolleys ... they basically good folk , collecting scrap plastic carboard ect to eke out a living ,, but yes the couple that picked Morag up should have made an effort to try find her owners .. but yes she is soo cute that they obviously wanted her ...
Anyhow the Morag has had one hell of an adventure ... being chauferred around in a shopping trolley ,, sleeping rough in a makeshift shelter .. a story she can tell her kids one day ..
I think your doggie is very happy too. Now you can both have a peaceful sleep and enjoy your company
Night, dream of your adventures and be happy.... i would be too
Yup nitey nite ... cuqui
A closing note ... the collective love and caring we have in our neighbourhood ,, quite a few kids had upon hearing of Morags bunk ,, put up posters with their own crude renditions of what Morag looked like .. Posters reading " Lost puppy .. loved missed ... Morag .. reward offered .. all in little people scrawl , crazy drawings ... all presticked onto walls over the area ... I will foto some of them and post them ... I am truly blessed to live where i do ...
Hey me up early .. wheres the expected celebrating cat3 hangover ?? cat1.gif must be cos I'm so excited ... taking a real good look at the tasmanian devil in daylight .. my gawd she has grown in the last 2 1/2 weeks .. her brindle shades coming through but patchy , looks like someone that needs a root touch up .. and the voice sounds like that of an adolescent with the voice breaking gruff and then squeak .. all settled in again and recovered after her adventure ... will take a pic or two later ...
Great news! Wow I'm so happy the little one is back - I told you so!
You really treaded risky waters, fortunately it turned out to be the truth and you and your passengers were guided by special angels.
Enjoy the day with the little brat! cuqui
So happy that things turned out the way they did SandyB.
bighug
Pics of two of the posters put up by the neighbourhood kids .. too cute ..
Sweet! Lovely neighborhood. Many areas people don't know and don't care who stays next to them. Bravo!
Just got back from Vet .. had Morag checked over .. all ok from adventure .. Tina had to go as well she tore a nail while chasing a cat this morning .. ( bloody kugel , break a nail and they want a blood transfusion ) anyhow vet had to clip it right off .. that was eina .. but at least she not limping anymore ... and consulting at sunday rate .. Ouch for me .. but they worth it .. cat3
laughpoint
They really have you running around, hey, Sandy! Should sit them down and give the kids a long, hard lecture methinks!
My boy Tigger is turning 8 this coming Saturday. He already put his order in for breakfast - it'll be pilchards in tomato sauce. He doesn't eat the fish, but loves to lick the skins and sauce off - leaves the little pink fishes behind, which I then leave outside for his less fortunate friends on the street.
Hello my friend - welcome back to you! Was sad to hear Morag was dognapped and then thrilled to hear she's back - great news! Leave on Sunday coming for Paris & London so chat when I get back! Look after you and the girls (and Paul of course!) - see ya soon.
If I don't get back onto the board before I leave - have a great reunion y'all and "see you" towards the end of November!
Sandy, what an awesome way to start my Monday - knowing Morag's back home and all is well.........i'm so so happy for you both (and Tina too, i'm sure she missed her playmate)...........bestest news ever........ 23_11_61
msn emoticon (8) to hear the the meandering tasmanian devil is back home to create havoc once more!
See, granny Diana knew she would be back (she knows her grandkids!)
woo_hoo
Dalene .. just got back from last dinner with pauline .. Paul taking her to airport tomorow ... sad to see her go .. we not had enough time after coming back ... and yes my tasmanian full of her usual shit cuqui .. such a pleasure to have her back .. even Tina glad to have her back ...
Hi3 woo_hoo
fantasy-18 god mother and thanks to Saint Anthony. He works a treat. So glad madam is back.
fireworks1
Keep her safe and sound
K
We Just finished a nice supper of lamb shank with veg and sweet taters .. the two dogchilds are now contentedly chewing on their bones ,,, I observe the Morag getting ready for the tooth fantasy-18 .. one tooth has a bit of bleeding .. and she chewing like crazy on her one toy ..
I had my chance to repay the universe and powers of good for the return of Morag this afternoon .. on the way home turned into my street and observed this terrier creature looking very confused trying to cross the road .. put on emergency flashers and stop to halt the madmen .. hoot hoot !! ... finger ... "f**k you moron .. do you make it your life mission to try run poor innocent animals over ?? " .. anyhow i keep an eye as i drive to my house .. see she now trying to cross Roodebloem road .. more lunatics speeding there .. so i park and as i walk and pray that she will not be panic stricken and not come to me .. observe one or two pedestrians try to engage her .. she spooks .. so i get to within 10 meters of her and go sit down on the pavement crosslegged and call to her .. she turns around and flies toward me .. straight into my arms ,, my prayer is answered .. I pick her up and take her to my car .. she got a tag on .. phone the number .. its SPCA after hours .. I then phone my vet .. they reluctant to take in a night boarder .. I insist .. I am a long standing customer of 28 years .. its the new bylaw .. barking dogs .. selfish Sea Point residents .. i quote they most probably have their pets vocal cords cut .. and that i know interesting people with baseball bats that do knees if they have any crap .. anyhow this mutt a sweet quiet girl with a lovely smile and that trusting look on her dial .. pretty sure she grateful to just be feeling safe .. throughout the journey to vets premises she just sits and looks at me smiling and then asks for the window to be wound down a bit so that she can sniff outside air .. got to vet they scanned her .. she microchipped and very recently spayed so finding the owners will be a cynch but only in the morning when SPCA office open .. vet thanks me profusely for saving a dogchilds life .. she will definitely be reunited with her family in the Morning .. they will phone me to let me know ..
Sandy, if only the world was full of more people like you. bighug
bravo Sandy! You really an angel!
Maybe the poor girl was scared away from home by fire crackers. I heard quite a lot last nite in my area. Fortunately my 3 are not scared at fireworks. I put on nice music, and talk in a calming voice, while making sure they understand it's nothing to be scared of. Tigger actually goes outside to watch the "rockets" - he loves noise! I'm lucky I suppose.
Sandy, yes - the Universe has a wonderful way of balancing things out, doesn't it..........how awesome that you saw the pup and she will be reunited with her family. Lucky pup to cross your path...........it breaks my heart to think about (never mind see) animals roaming around lost and bewildered. I've stopped a couple of times in peak hour traffic myself to try and get a clearly lost dog into my car, even doing your stunt of sitting down and calling it but they've always run off in fright with me left standing on the side of the road looking like a drowned rat from the rain, heart crying with compassion for that poor animal too scared to trust, and then absolute anger & blood lust at whoever broke the trust in that proor wretched creature................but you know what i struggle with most..........sometimes you can clearly see that a dog is lost just by its panicky bewildered look but sometimes when they're just strolling down road, i never know if it's just gone for a walk around the neighbourhood and knows its way home again or if it's genuinely lost........then i think, if it's just gone for a walk and making it's way home later, what if i pick it up, take it to the vet and it lands up at the SPCA only for no-one to claim it due to no collar with name tag or microchip and it gets put down.......all unnecessarily 'cos it was actually just going out for a sniff here and there before going home again and here i come along thinking i'm rescuing it meantime i'm actually signing it's death warrant.............i never know with those cases...........
idontknow
Mmm that double edged sword .. I always base my decision on behaviour .. normally slight to extreme panic . sniffing backwards and forwards as if to try pick up scent .. looking around . trying to recognise places even familiar people ..
the streetwise gentlemen and ladies of the road are normally another story . they walk with confidence .. will either engage you in a friendly way or ignore you as they on mission .. so it might be a " oh hello ,, ok me off now theres some fun down the road ciao "
but a difficult call yes ..
Thanks sandy, will remember your pointers. Love your description of the street wise ones - had an image of something out of Lady & the Tramp in my head...........
I did have the awesome honour of reuniting an old lady with her owners a year ago - on my birthday in fact - i saw a dog from my office window wandering down the railway line - i work in paarden eiland along marine drive, my office looks out over the bay & harbour with the railway line running parallel to marine drive - anyway, i run down to the ground floor, out the front door, over the road, squeeze through the fence and onto the tracks calling the dog, she just carries on trotting along, not even an ear turns in my direction. when i finally catch up with her and only when i get in front of her does she register that i'm there. i pick her up, she snuggles into my arms, shaking like a leaf, she's panting like crazy, i take her back to our offices, give her water which she lapped up like there was no tomorrow, made her comfy in my office and took her home at lunch time. Made her comfortable in my room on some blankets with food and water and when i came home after work she was sleeping contentedly. I was actually going to keep her - thought the universe had sent me a present for my b'day - but my conscience wouldn't stop with "what if it was your dog that was lost, you would want whoever found her to advertise"........which is what i did - i thought if i don't find the owner then i'll keep her but try I must. I phoned all the vets in the area and 2 days later i got a call from one of them in Table View........i took the dog around to the owners that evening and the reunion had me in tears. It was so touching to witness the love & happiness from both sides. When the mom had finished hugging the poor thing almost to death, she put her down and the dog ran straight to her basket, flopped down among all her chewy toys and turned to grin at us all with a sparkle in her eyes which belied her age. The mom, daughter and I sat and chatted - they obviously wanted to know the ins and outs of where i found her, etc. Turns out the dog's name was Tossie, she's about 15 years old, deaf and half blind - their gate had been left open by the rubbish collection guys, she must've wondered into the park across the road and probably followed the bergies around who always hang out in the park. They had obviously gone off in one direction somewhere along the way leaving her to fend for herself. How she managed to walk from Table View to Paarden Eiland in her state without being knocked over by a car is a miracle - her angel was obviously watching over her.
So yes, good things do happen sometimes and it gave me that warm fuzzy feeling inside knowing that a beloved pet was home where she belongs able to carry on with her golden years surrounded by the love and care all animals deserve.
@ Delia - Just like Sandy - YOU ANGEL TOO!
Wonderful story, makes one feel so good. Don't think she would've made it much further, being deaf and half blind. So much sorrow saved, and happiness brought.
Once again, yougogirl Delia!
Good one Delia .. yes and the lady and tramp pointers are true .. or dogs on a mission .. will relate the story of my Patches soon just after i moved to CT in 1980 .. Richard opperman will have some input there as well .. got dinner guests soon so .. off to the kitchen ..
About a year ago I went to the Shoprite/Checkers Centre in Parow one rainy Sunday morning and in the parking lot I could hear a cat meowing. I started to try and trace where the sound was coming from, as under the awnings the sound tends to echo. Some other people helped in the search, looking in drains, etc. Eventually these people left and I managed to trace the sound to a specific car. I went into the Centre and asked management to call the owners of the car. The owners of the car arrived and I requested them to open the bonnet of their car. Lo and Behold there was the cat, in a good looking condition, but very disorientated and obviously scared. The owners of the car said the cat did not belong to them and weren't very interested in the fate of the animal. I therefore thought to myself, OK Sunday (our dogs are not cat friendly so therefore home is not an option) no other alternative but the SPCA. Put cat in car and drive to SPCA Grassy Park with cat at the foot pedals and on my lap most of the way. The cat was obviously used to people as it was not aggressive or scared. I can only think that possibly one of the cars owners neighbours cats had hitched a ride.
On a lighter note, away from the heartache of lost pets............i just want to share something that always brings a smile to my face and joy to my heart.........with my awesome sweeping view of the bay/harbour from my office, i often see people walking their dogs along the stretch between the railway line and the low wall in front of the beach...........every now and again they duck onto the beach where there's a break in the wall...............there is one particular guy that i see at least once a week with his two dogs - the one is a black labbie and the other looks like a mixture between a collie and an alsation..........as all dog lovers know, labbies are such happy dogs, always a smile on their face and tail wagging like crazy......this one runs along sniffing all over, can't get enough, the excitement obvious over and above his normal happy nature............the other one, the mixture collie/alsation, has an obsession about having something in its mouth, be it a piece of wood, plastic or whatever he can find along the way.........the one day all he must've been able to find was a broken plastic bucket........there he was running along with this bucket in his mouth and from my angle it looked hysterical 'cos his head was hidden behind the bucket and all i could see was this bucket with a body attached to it running along in excitement still trying to sniff everything on the ground.........i almost collapsed with laughter when i saw the scene..............i've come to look forward to seeing what he's going to have in his mouth each time.
23_11_61 Delia. Great that you have a window to look out of, and not just four walls in an air-conditioned box!
Yeah Bertie - i am truly grateful for my view - i hate being trapped in an office as it is, being an outdoorsy type, so while i have to be here for now, i feel blessed that i'm "almost" outside with glass all around me and not brick walls. When i'm feeling stressed from the day's events, i walk 5 steps out onto our balcony for a smoke break and just enjoy the sight and smell of the ocean a stone's throw away - all my worries & stress melt away and i feel refreshed to tackle the next round.
You right, 23_11_61
I try my best to constantly live my motto of "don't moan about what i don't have and be grateful for what i do have".......
THE TOOTH fantasy-18 HAS NOW MOVED IN ..
The Morag as per the vets words at about 5 months old the sharp needles will start to go .. well she a bit early .. appetite went a bit ,, tummy a bit upset .. noticed bottom jaw inscisors , a new set sprouting on the inside of jaw ,, well the first of the bottom jaw inscisors has just dropped out .. a bit gappy but the new one well on its way .. did lamb shank again tonight .. so they got bones .. she chewing gingerly cos the other teeth are most probably loosening up ..
Worst is tonight is Guy Fawks night ,, my babies secure in the home .. but many will tonight lose their pets when they spook .. Tina normally unperturbed .. Morag just joins in the barking when Tina responds to the noise .. they should ultimately ban the fireworks ..
i must admit that animals can become conditioned to noise .. at the major temples in Thailand they have huge chimney efforts in which people set off crackers to ask for good luck or drive off evil spirits .. the dogs and cats that live at the temple ( all collared and in reasonable condition ) are totally unmoved by the rata tat tat of the crackers going off ...
laughpoint THE TOOTH fantasy-18 working overtime .. Morag has not allowed me to look at her mouth the last day .. got a peek just now .. two bottom inscisors gone and their short replacements in place .. but she got a gappy front smile .. no wonder ..
When are we getting a new photo?
Ok Ok granny D ... some from her joyous reunion on sunday .. we all cracked some vino and just enjoyed seeing her settle in .. and one taken just now .. see the brindle coming through ..
Wow but she's grown looking just like her mommy "Molly".
Is that Pauline in the photo?
I see Pauls cut his beautifull hair.....I do like it though.
Yes she has grown .. and yes thats a relieved Pauline and yes Paul cut his hair in Thailand .. a change is as good as a holiday and a holiday was the time to do a change .. a radical one .. he kept the thick pony they cut off ..
The Morag going through hell at the moment .. Molars now coming loose .. she doing continual chewing motion and pawing at mouth and one can hear them creaking .. had to take her to vet today as she was shitting throught he eye of a needle .. consequence of the teething .. otherwise healthy .. she now got a length of cork bark and chewing away at it .. natural teething toy .. growing up.. did the big dog thing today walk with Tina on her leash still hates the collar and leash but enjoyed the nice long walk .. it becomes second nature .. cuqui
THis isn't our pet, but we do have hedghogs in our garden. THey're very shy and hide as well as possible.
1. My girls enjoying the little fellow.
2. A ball of needles...
Hi Georg - lovely little critters. We had 2 in Oranjemund. Used to go walking every evening to collect insects under all the lamp posts. They specifically enjoyed those small dark brown beetles - they munched away eagerly! Became very tame and quite lovable.
Wonder how they got to OM.
Gee! Jnr, if somebody called my girls critters , I would be upset....... 23_146_26 202

Hey guys, I was talking about the prickly critters! Now I know why Georg isn't talking to me! ha ha
Somebody picked them up on the road in Northern part of SWA (the hedgehogs!), and didn't know how to care for them, that's how they came to us. A lot of stray/hurt animals ended up at our house in Oranjemund, I remember an owl with a broken wing, a penguin which was caught by a fisherman with a hook through its wing, two squirrels, mountain tortoises, to name just a few.
My dog Oufie and the horses were so glad to have me back at home! Oufie just ran with me all the way when I went to the camp where the mares and foals graze. Sprinted out infront of the quadbike like a racing dog... and the horses nearly got onto the bike with me! Here a few pics...
A nice welcome home Dalene ... animals show it unconditionaly ...
All the animals were out of their skins when I got home... even the jackall out in the field had a moerse party amongst the lambs! - about 4 again in 1 night!!
Kaye was in CT and said she simply had to pop around .. we did dinner down the road and rounded off the evening sitting in the magic garden , gently supping some good red ,, here is a picture of Kaye who is now offically Morags Aunty Kaye ... she had a long chat with Morag ,, telling her to be careful and not fall for the first handsome scotty boy to come along .. she said " check his credentials properly as I will definitely be adopting one of your babies when they ready to move out of home " so far a lot of interest .. The vet has also said she also wants one of her kids too ... I will be waiting for her second heat before she has a meaningful one night relationship with some handsome scotty boy .. in the meantime put out feelers and check out potential suitors ...
Had a laugh today .. went out in search of a new rug for lounge this morning .. now the Morag on weekends throws absolute shitfits if we go out .. ( weeks fine cos then you making money to keep her in style) but weekends are for long walks and driving out to visit friends " How dare you leave me at home ? ' so as we left we heard the usual shrieks and noise ... got home later .. as always when walking in call out to them ... silence .. and the heavy antique leather suitcase I use to block the doorway between dining room and lounge as they set off the alarm in the front lounge is not where it should be .. Oh dear what gone wrong .. walk through and they still dont respond ... call some more then i see two little heads peering anxiously from the bathroom ... The Morag had in her shitfit state decided to try get over the suitcase and obvioulsy pulled it over causiing it to fall down the interleading three steps .. causing a huge bang and her obviously just missing injury .. so there are the two in the bathroom sort of hiding with the look on their faces kind of saying .. " we dont know what happened , it just fell with this huge bang and we got this huge fright and decided the bathroom was the safest place to hide ... "" Ha ha ... much laughter and assuring them thats all Ok ... gonna have to buy/ build a proper barrier for that doorway ...
Sandy, Tina Turner, Gorgeous Morag and Paul. Thanks for the wonderfull hospitality. The magical garden was magical and the kisses from Morag just too delightfull. Am checking out suitable "bloodlines" sorry but tyson does not do it and the pit bull from down wisteria lane has no chance!!!!! But we will find a McTavish or a McDonald suitable for the little girl never fear!
Geez SKINNY! What a surprise. And I thought you've got a pair of fangs in your face.... 8_1_220(55)
@Georg Jr.....

I add one for all us animal lovers
Mankinds degree of civilsation is measured
by how well they take care of ...
Their children
Their elderly
and ..
Their animals
And that is so very true !
now we're getting to politics again Sandy. I'm not sure, if this is the right place...
No, I won say a word....

So so true.....I told my girls "Don't get involved with a man who does not like animals" Its a good yardstick to measure a mans worthyness by.
Politics ?? methinks you mistaken .. its a simple measure of humanity .. what we as individuals and fellow beings do ... its a looking into our hearts and asking how well do we measure up to what is written here ???
What the politicians and policymakers do in their cloud cuckoo land of broken " promises " is another story ... I keep that separate from here ...
Whats so political about caring for children, the elderly and animals ???????
idontknow I think I've lost you here. Let me get back to my poledancing1
Welll.....
We've had several topics on humaniy on this board before. I was always asking for everybody to see things in a conext...
Georg ,,, The context here is how well do we as individuals measure up to this one ..
But yes if one wanted to take it further in the context .. the politicians and policymakers with their generally hollow promises .. if they dont measure up to some of the basics .. which includes the children elderly and animals ... well we should do our damndest to vote them out ... so yes in that context i suppose we if we are caring individuals that are in touch with our hearts will do so ..lets leave it there and out of this topic ... here we celebrate our love and feelings toward our animal friends .
Hey Georg ...did you see my handsome German type dog?

Great stuff, Delia. I do agree. I still have to meet an animal lover I don't like. And yes, somebody mistreating animals - definitely end of that friendship. Maybe because my animals are like my kids - spoiled rotten, but sooooo wonderful. cat1.gif
Agree 100% Bertie - "if you're not an animal lover, you're aint no friend of mine"!
They ARE like children - when my cats were still outdoor cats (they're not anymore for various reasons - i do take them out daily, supervised tho to eat grass, sniff around, lie in the sun a bit), the male one would come flying in thru the bedroom window at precisely 9.30 every night and no matter where i was, on the couch watching TV, in bed reading or wherever, he would jump up on me and wrap himself around my neck purring away, rubbing his face against mine and carry on like this for about 10 minutes - i got the feeling he was telling me all about his evening - where he'd been, what he'd done, who he'd seen............then satisfied that he'd told me all about it, he'd go eat, curl up on my bed and sleep till the outdoors called again. The female would saunter past after coming in with that high falooting attitude of "none of your business where i've been"...........such different personalities. They bring so much pleasure and joy, boggles my mind how someone can say they don't like animals?????
So true Delia - they definitely have their own personalities. I know exactly what they're thinking/planning/scheming - know them very well. They have so many expressions one can pick up if you look for it. The whole body position, posture and eyes - shape, size, blinking, squinting, etc everything means something. Dont know if you've seen my 3 - I posted pictures a few months ago - reply #226 in this topic, here's the link:

I am not a people person, love animals and small children and thats about it.
@ Bertie - your kids are bootiful cat1.gif
Thanx Delia. I was in the dogbox for 20 minutes this evening. I gave them their "vlooitjie-medisyne" because it's flea season. They absolutely hate the drops behind the neck, but after a while they were friendly again! All 3 lying around the computer at the moment, waiting for me to carry on with their bed-time story about the tooth mouse and his ordeals with puss-in-boots!
The Morag getting bigger and naughtier by the day .. really pushing the limits with Tina girl ... today went to visit Charlie in Plumstead ... nice braai outside ... when it got to time to leave .. I put on their leashes . so Madam decided to give a show ... she grabbed Tina's leash and dragged her around .. as if to say .. dont worry I'll keep an eye on her ,, you dont have to .. but was having mischevious fun ... Tina needs to bite her bum hard to keep the pecking order ...
Hey Sandy it is "fangless" here!!!! Bythe way the lead and dragging around the other dogs is a scotty thing. Makki does it too with the labradors. Just too funny to see. But she grabs the first lead and thenthere is hell of a tug of war. But she always wins, so the labbies just give in and off she waddles with labrador in tow. If I can figure out how to add a photo will post one. Unfortunately the destructions on how to add photo are all german to me.
Dear " fangless " if the instructions are all in german then ask Jnr to help ... actually methinks they in scottish .. in that case ask Mike ... Or Makki to help ... cuqui

Hi Skinny
I dont know wich instructions are in german
To add a photo here, write your normal text in the reply, then press additional options, that allows you to selct and upload a picture from your PC
It would be ideal if that picture is sized to max width of 700 pixel and in JPG format
If you have a problem with that, sind me the pictures, i will edit and size them and return them to you to post
send it to my email adress ( see profile) if you wish i post them for you
Regards Georg
Wind ,, madness, mayhem , chaos .. the Morag obviously getting brain scrambled by the wind ... or just in last stages of adolescence .. raided the garden today .. huge chunks of bark stolen from orchid pots.. chewed to smithereens on the carpets .. all sorts of unfortunate plant life dragged inside and also quietly murdered on the carpets .. all thats left is pathetic dried up bits .. twigs , leaves , cork branches all chewed and strewn all over the place ... a pair of slipslops left in the study now broken strapped .. a pair of shoes I stupidly left in the bathroom ,, sans laces ... a pair of socks just all wet and slobbered upon ,, and undies raided from the washbasket also wet and slobbered upon .. she gonna have bowel movements from hell tomorrow morning ... dont know how she gonna pass laces .??? i can seeis me haing to help pull them out of you know where . all I could do was split my sides with laughter at this all ... she now content and quiet after her bout of mischief ... cuqui
Sandy......heres Morgan's new pet ,Molly's new friend and Morags step-brother called Mienie. All the M's.
Very cute he is follows Morgan all over and when she lays on the floor he tries to roll her with his nose. Molly gets quite irritated with him as all he wants to do is play and tires her out.
He looks like a scotpiggity .. a rare breed indeed .. and Yes Morag would love to meet him seeing as he's part of the family ... and most probably has the same habits of burrowing digging and messing as the dear Miss M is doing at present ...
More bits and pieces dragged in .. twigs ,, leaves .. the once cleaned earlier in the evening dining room carpet sure to resemble a disaster area by daylight ... little b.... having fun... and yes me still laughing ... have another martini and all's fine hey ?

Didn't have my camera at hand ,, a great pity ... but the Morag a seemingly confused or just curious clever or whatever Scotty girl .. now 6 months old .. sitting in the lane early evening soaking up the late afternoon sun glass of vino , ciggie and just chilling .. the dawgs out in lane with me .. next thing .. Morag goes quiet .. walks slowly down lane .. eventually doing a belly crawl .. reason there two doves further down .. foraging .. she moves stealthily .. a few inches at a time .. now flat to the ground .. keeps still .. then inches forward again.. dead quiet .. now totally immobile .. waiting ,, the doves unsuspectingly coming closer .. patience .. watching .. they get to withing 2 - 3 meters .. then she pounces .. to no avail .. a failed hunt ,, they fly off .. is this not a scottkitty maybe ??
image201
Sandy, there must be some Kitty blood in the ancestry! Listen carefully next time you scratch the little Morag's tummy - there might be some purring next!
cat3 X cuqui
As kids growing up at E7-1st ave in the 70's , we inherited a puppy from Mike and Karin Walls, now this puppy, Tiger Dog (Cos there was also a TIger Cat), was brought up from a young age amongst cats and Kittens, he was a pavement special and stood about 40 cm tall, clever as hell, with only one problem...... he thought he was a cat, and many an Ovambo would have to look twice to see this dog run along the top of the fences at 1st Avenue with the cats..... he liked being up there with them......... policedog-small affe-red cat1.gif
I recalll that rather indeed strange looking dog .. cuqui
My Mac... looking real good ! He has done his homework well... 5 mares pregnant. First one to foal will be Jenna in March...
Lucky boy !!
Indeed ! and I think he knows it! Quite a 'windgat' fella.... got some new lunging ropes and hackamore - got to work him good in the ring to show him that I am still the head mistress !!!! and he has to be taught some good manners!
There's nothing quite like a gentleman lover :)
A piece of art to see him 'flirting' and 'courting' the mares....
Give him Diana's favourite name .. .... Heathcliff ...
202 Yes Heathcliff
I think he will snort in severe protest ! Remember - he is a full blood, registered Arab stallion with the proud name :
Sidi Mc Master with Sire Magical Dream (stemming from Ali Jamaal and Maestro bloodline - 2 of the top 100 breeding stallions in the world - listed so on the AHRA site) and Dam Sidi Emelina (stemming from The Egyptian Prince and The Dreamspinner bloodline - also listed on AHRA site).
But I will for sure call him Heathcliff in the ring when he is up to tricks ! Maybe that will get to him !
Almost forgot to post .. Morag and Tina went to the parlour last friday ... mani pedi shampoo cut and blow dry ,, the perfect girls morning outing .. Tina they cut well not too short , but yes did not cliiper the ears as much as I wanted ... the Morag had most of her fuzz taken off into typical scoty style .. methinks they did the cut a bit too severely .. but then thats subjective .. she is enjoying it .. more bouncy and acting a bit more grown up ( well kind of ) one of the before .. and the others the after ..
A little star now rooster
Sooo cute the little madames!
Granny D ... good and bad news ... your grand daughter Morag has now hit the confused slutty teens ... she been very preoccupied with her toot the last couple of days .. lo and behold she starting her first heat ,, this afternoon laying on her back and showing the boys in the lane her wares ... I got her inside pronto .. she gated till this first heat over .. she will only be allowed to have fun with a Hamish or Mactavish on her second heat when she a bit older and more mature .. shame she still a pup , no teenage pregnancy allowed ... got to protect her from herself hey ??
bravo image201
Our baby's growing up fast......yes keep her away from all them rooster boy dogs. Molly was also only allowed to visit Tyson on her 2nd heat or 3rd can't remember which now. The result Morag and her sister,a brother and our big lug.
Took Tina to the vet today , a bit of an eye infection .. anyhow we did the whole checkover .. vet very pleased .. she has lost weight and yes roundness .. i explained to the vet that she was no longer on her happy tabs to control her chronic skin irritation .. these tabs apart from containing a sedative also contain cortisone which would accelerate body bloating and weight gain .. reason .. a year or more ago I bought the verimark gimmick petpro brush used it a few times and put it away ... now in the last mont or two I've been using it diligently each night .. and lo and behold her skin has come right .. so now she off the tabs .. and lookng so much better .. the brush works on creating ozone which helps keep the fur clean and yes seems to have had an effect of sorting out her chronic skin condition ... look up on search petpro .. they even have a flea zapper .. will look closer at that .. no poisons or at least reduced usage ...
For all you animal lovers .. here the shortcut ... http://www.airandaqua.com/sunshop/catalog/PetPro-7-1.html

I dont see the brush on the verimark shelves anymore so one would have to but online at premium .. but yes ...

MORAGS PUPPY TOY NOW NOW FINISHED ...
below .. Morag has finally shredded her puppy toy to oblivion ...first pic in its original state ....
the rest now ... dont know how much of it she digesting ... suppose I must get another one ,, she can always give it to her first litter if it survives ,,
Now she looking like mommy Molly. cuqui
Very proud of shredding toy to pieces, I'm sure! Won the battle with the intruder! 23_11_61
Mmm looked back on her pic from when she had her haircut .. she grown fuzzy pretty quickly .. they both booked for girls morning out again end of month .. then let them grow fuzzy trhoughout winter .. keep them warm ...
Not a pet in the true sense of the word, but found this little one wandering in the road this morning... picked him up and put him back in the ground dam !
Aaaah - so cute, but do they stink ! Terrapins - not a good pet to keep in the house, for sure ! Lots of them in the ground dams again after recent good rains - even tiny baby ones that has just hatched !
Hey Dalene, must have been a "skilpadjie-party" somewhere!!!! I found your terrapin's small land cousin heading up your way just outside Durbanville!
image071
I remember Richard and Gary Opperman having terrapin's in a tank back in 1970ish.
Bertie, come to think of it...... I did see quite a few 'hasies' jumping about as well...
you think the whole lot might have a re-match in the hare vs tortoise race ?
All creatures are welcome here - D looks after them real good and they can roam free at own will - that's the best part about 'wild pets'.
This explains why I forward jokes.
A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.
He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years.. He wondered where the road was leading them.
After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.
When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.
W hen he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'
'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.
'Wow! Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked.
'Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up.'
The man gestured, and the gate began to open.
'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveler asked.
'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'
The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.
After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence.
As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.
'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?'
'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in.'
'How about my friend here?' the traveler gestured to the dog.
'There should be a bowl by the pump.'
They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it.
The traveler filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.
When they were full, he and the dog
Walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.
'What do you call this place?' the traveler asked.
'This is Heaven,' he answered.
'Well, that's confusing,' the traveler said. 'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.'
'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's Hell.'
'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'
'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind.'
Soooo ..Sometimes, we wonder why friends keep forwarding jokes to us without writing a word. Maybe this will explain.
When you are very busy, but still want to keep in touch, guess what you do? You forward jokes.
When you have nothing to say, but still want to keep contact, you forward jokes.
When you have something to say, but don't know what, and don't know how, you forward jokes.
Also to let you know that you are still remembered, you are still important, you are still loved, you are still cared for, guess what you get?
A forwarded joke.
So, next time if you get a joke, don't think that you've been sent just another forwarded joke, but that you've been thought of today and your friend on the other end of your computer wanted to send you a smile.
You are all welcome @ my water bowl anytime
Ruf Ruf .. too true Georg ...
Got up nice and early this morning .. spent lots of quality time with dogs .. Morag not been well .. had bad gippo guts ( obviously something foreign she chewed up) ... so its been boiled chicken breast and sticky rice to stop the runs ... they spent the best part of last night hunting the new family of mice that have moved in .. every day one of them has a trophy ... from babies to now one adult .. I was amazed at how Morag has grown she now getting to be bigger than Tina .. TINA GOT A COMPLIMENT ... I gave Tina her bath this afternoon all ice clean and glistening .. and then the walk .. we walked up to the Woodstock peace garden ... lots of devil thorns .. so anyhow i stop to remove froom my sandals ... this lady walks past and says what lovely colour your dog has is it natural ?? well I had a laugh .. can you imagine me taking the silver blonde bombshell for regular touch up sessions . ???
Just to show you how much Valentine has grown .... pic 1
Pic 2 - Mac inspecting the quad...
Pic 3 - Oufie cooling off
Pic 4 - Pierrewiet the mean meanice !
Madame Morag now into second heat ... she approaching peak this weekend and guess what .. I did doggie dating.com .. with vet and prlour and there is a suitor by the name of Angus .. a 4 year old scottie male who will after being viewed and if accepted spend a passionate weekend with Morag ... he a full brindle Scotty boy who has won a few prizes . would have liked a full black soft coat , but seems their owners too snobbish .. tough ,,, Diana you gonna be a great Gmother and me a proud grandparent if it all pans out .. will post pics but nothing explicit .. Ok >>.
Well when the puppies arrive we will have to do some visits. Mommy Molly is just back from Daddy Tyson and will be having her second litter at about the same time as her daughter Morag. Then she's off to the vet. cuqui
Today I got a call from a man with a pitch black boy .. 1 1/2 years old ... so seems Morag going to do the brindle boy and have brindle pups and then the next heat she has she can try for some glossy black babies with the other boy .. .. scotty population increasing ..
Scanned a pic of Angus ... hope the quality Ok ... its taken from a digital print .. forgot to put it on flash ... he has won prizes for best coat .. so it should be interesting to see the combination .. he arrives tomorrow morning for their weekend honeymoon .. Morag now very receptive .. I wont describe the goings on between her and Tina lets just describe it as preparation and doggie advice from an older sister who's been the route .. ...just hope she doesnt reject him .. but then theres the black boy waiting in the wings ..
How's it going with the honeymoon couple, Sandy? Angus looks like quite a distinguished and proud gentleman on the picture!
Angus seems to be too much of a gentleman .. but then I heard it happens with breeds ,, sometimes they just dont hit it off .. Morag all too ready ... Angus sniffing licking etc ,, but then strolls off and lies down ... he gone home for the night .. Morag sulking major league ... gonna contact the other suitors human to see if they can see if they work ..
Morag Sulking on Pauls shoulder .. she got crushed kitty syndrome at the moment ..
Stop peeping Sandy........poor Angus.
Nuffing to do wif peeping ....
And here is my newest arrival in the heard :
Nazhar - my youngest baby (stallion) by sire Sidi Mac Master and dam Cheska
(was sad when I sold 3 horses to a trainer from Pretoria just the other day, but I know they are in good hands.... and a week after that on 8 August this little fella was born)
...
Beautiful! The little one seems to be quite a lively, alert youngster.
He is gorgeous ... you should clone him ...
He is just to gorgeous for words... you should see him run and buck and play !
He won't be the only foal for long .... anxiously waiting for 2 other mares to foal within the next week or 2.... then I'll have 4 foals in total from Mac. The big boy is doing his job !!!! he he
We currently observing the Morag vey closely .. she looks like she may have got it right with Ozzie ... she looks like she getting a tummy .. we await .. its only two weeks ... 6 to go .. and as doggie pregnancy goes its like an eruption .. cross fingers .. I be granpa and Tina an aunt .. cuqui
And still the heard is growing - another brand new baby born yesterday morning!
A mare this time again (whoop !!) by sire Sidi Mac Master and dam Dusty....
I still have to name her....
Ain't she just too cute for words !!!
Great stuff... how much does such a young one weigh?
idontknow
Depending on the type of horse and the size of the foal... anything between 60 to 70 kgs..... so glad I'm not a horse !!! he he
Fully grown they can weigh anything up to 300kgs on the hoof or even more if it is a bigger type horse.
60 to 70 Kg .. thats more than us Dalene !!
Especially for Sandy. Here are some pics of our Molly's puppies. They have the same Daddy as your Morag. They where born at intervals between 4a.m and 6a.m Thursday 1st Oct. Both the black ones are males and both the brindle are female. One of the brindle females is the biggest and the littlelest one (like your Morag from the last litter) is one of the black males. The brindle girls are realy brindle this time round not just a smattering like the last litter. Molly realy needs the palour but can't do anything untill puppies are weaned.
Too cute ... we raising a ( or two ) glass to Molly ...
OI......and the rest of you are allowed to say...." AHHH CUTE ".

Hello1

AHHH CUTE ".
MORAGS "PUPPY" A MUST SEE seems she going to be a good Mom ...
You all obviously been sitting having a meal at a restaurant and these vendors come in selling roses etc .. well the one evening Paul was out with friends and this girl was selling "pets " the dog pictured with the big googy eyes captured Pauls heart ,, arrived home put it in his room ... Morag would always stare at it and whine .. so it was kept way out of her reach as he thought she would shred it ..
surprise of surprises ,, a few evenings ago she jumped up on his bed and did the stareing bit at it .. so he gave it to her ,, well she has taken to mothering it ,,, sleeps with it next to her licks its tummy and behind ,,, and is quite possesive with it ,, reminds me of a young girl with her baby doll ...
A very big HHHEEELLLOOOO to everyone whoes not on face book...so much to catch up on dont know if i ever will.......but being as i am here my latest pet is Alf a Giant French Lot Rabbitt.....House Rabbit.........Hes so cuddly and loving..I can recommened a rabbit for anyones next pet...........i have also now had my old cat milli returned to me by my daughter katie who kidnapped her while i was on holiday and kept her for 3 years....was a worry how she would take to alf....but they got on from the moment they met.......im told thats because the rabbit will soon be wanting to "hump" the cat lol.....better get him to the vets......lol
Our Morags now a big girl , went for a cut today and lo and behold the brindle in her coat showing up very nicely now ... first two pics and then one with one of the neighbourhood girls .. Looking good hey Diana ???
So cute. I assume Tina got a pampering as well?
As you can see Cherry , while Morag was having the mani pedi shamppo cut and blowdry .. Tina was ahving a nice conditioning bath at home , a steady walk up to the Garden plot and then a good brush ... she has to be treated with kidgloves presently cos she has a inflamed tendon in her left back leg .. no sudden moves or twistiing ... so it was a gentle home job ...
Wow looking just like mommy Molly.
Glad my other little girl also got a spoiling - as it should be!
The new addition......my girl Jesse.
Michelle I sent you a PM this morning...not sure if you received..kept hanging.
16_1_231 - what happened to all the puppy smileys?
Aw Diana - she is gorgeous! Looks really naughty as well! We look forward to reading about all the nonsense that she gets up to!
Diana - no pm from you! :nono1:
Mmmm I see a pair of crocs becoming a puppy teething ring .... cute ....
Our pets, Jamie 9 months old and JC 3 months old.
Some of my 'wild' pets on the farm .... just have to share the one of the 4 'kelkiewyn' birds with you. The chicks were so cute - tried to hide in the grass in the middle of the road when they saw the bakkie for they still can't fly ... had such a laugh at them.
And then - Martie Meerkat - the bushtailed meerkat that lives near the dam. This one is quite cheeky - usually jumps out and hangs around when we go check out the dam - I sometimes take her something to nibble on - very noisy indeed when I leave and there is no yummy stuff for her !!!
Tooo cute .. we had a meerkat as a house pet when i was a child ... he was an orphan baby so was brought home and raised alongside the dog and cat ... they got on pretty well .. some screaming hissing and growling matches ... but they got on ...
...and so my Jesse is growing fast...4months now. Very smart dogs these GSD's she house trained in 2weeks woo_hoo
Still miss my Zak soooooooooooo much.
Absolutely stunning Diana - although I'm a bit worried for your birds feedme
Check those thick forepaws .. she gonna be a big healthy girl ... and yes watch the birds ,,, come to Jesse tweety snackybirdy ....
Oh Yes my Jesse a real little naughty honey bunch. Now a gangly mischevious (sp) 5mnth old. Teenage years in human life. Went out for half an hour to-day...came home to an upturned potplant. Try getting embedded potting soil out of a cream carpet.
I'm posting this pic of me and my babies....just because I like it. cat3
My babies from last year has grown - still has their winter coats and look like wooly mammoths, but they soon will shed and be all shiney again.
Pic 1 - Saharah the mare
Pic 2 - Zaki the stallion (for now)
Pic 3 - Diego the youngest addition who was born in Jan this year - also a stallion for now
Lost Nazhar in March this year due to total severance of tendons in the right back foot and he had to be put down. Lost my Dirsan the past weekend due to snakebite !! My heart ....
Cutey mammoths ,,, 16_1_231
Crazy kitten, Dola - always up for a rub and a scratch .... so much so that she turns head over heels just to rub a little better against my leg and feet as I am out in the garden .....

A CAT HAS DESCENDED ON US ..
much to the displeasure of the dogs ,, a young ginger male kitty decided to make our home his ,,, we heard this mewing for quite a few nights , wondered where it was coming from ,, well this semi wild ginger tyke was letting us know he was looking for a home ,, very quickly got over his trepidation came down and allowed a bit of stroking ,, we started feeding and well he's now entrenched himself ,, He is actually a beaut cos he got eyes that are more blue than green a tall skinny build and very long tail , think it must be a bit siamese in him somewhere ,,
Unfortunately the dogs have made it clear they not happy so for now he lives in a shelter in the beauganvilla , if he happy with the arrangement then so be it ...
We have named him Frankie after old blue eyes Frank Sinatra ,,
His lovely... cat3
Cameron, Kelvin and I were sitting in the middle of the kids trampoline outside in the garden, feeding , Kelvin his lunch, when we were shocked to observe, my late father's staffie, casually, climb up the rung ladder onto the trampoline, wow! where on earth did that old dog learn that trick..... ?
I'm gonna try and video it sometime.....
NEARLY LOST MY TINA ,,,, Today decided the old girl needed a bath mwith the reward of a run up to the garden plot afterwards ,,, all went well with the bath ,,, the towel dry then getting together for the walk suddenly she falls to the ground goes limp ... I grabbed her started pummeling her chest opened her mouth and blew air in ,, pummeled the chest and then more air blown in ,, then her tongue vame out and she went stiff and arched ,,, I nearly had a heart attack continoued with pummeling the chest.. suddenly she bacame limo again and then suddenly came around ,,, looked very dazed ,, and sat quietly ,,, I phoned the emergency vet told them what ahppened ,, they said to bring her around as soon as possible .. diagnosis , my old gilr has a leaky heart valve ,, she had had congestive heart failure ... my amateur CPR saved her ,,, she now got medication ... looking fine and calm ... Hell man i was scared ,,,,,
Update .. Tina fine .. the medications have kicked in .. now she even more full of shyt than she was before ... after all she has travelled down the loony tune tunnel seen the light and been brought back ... vet said that if it happened when she was alone she would surely have joined the light .. we have a reprieve but yes its a degeneration of age she now about 14 so yes .. but so far good innings ... 16_1_231

Hows Tina doing Sandy?
Diana ... Tina's doing very well , has a half a heart tablet a day ... she has a new lease on life ,,behaves like a pup despite being now somewhere around 15 years old .. lost a lot of weight ,, and also not congested with water in the chest cavity ... so many more years of the little b... h around ...
