Post by: Dalene Steenkamp (Coetzee) on January 19, 2008, 05:43:46 PM
The Steenkamp family

1.  All of us together  -  look how much taller the kids are than me - take after their dad.  And I still have platform shoes on!

Lovely family you have there Dalene, great pic.

:emot112_2:

Don't worry about your boys hight, I hear that boys are never shorter then their mothers.  I'm about 1.85 meters tall and all my boys are taller then me.

Is there moms out there who's boys are shorter then them???

(Mike, we are not talking about your garden boy now hey,so don't even try it!!)

I don't mind the kids being taller than me  -  it's me being so short that sometimes is a problem.  Always have to get on a stepladder or chair to get something off a shelf.  Have to get on the table in my office to switch on/off the aircon.  But not such a big worry too  -  this way I can always shunt someone else around when they are near....

Both my children are tall  Tarryn is 5' 9'' and Bjorn is 6' 3

Its nice when i want something done that is high, Tarryn changes light bulbs without standing on anything.

Beautiful family Dalene. My son is 6'2", funny thing is, his own father is very short but him and Wilhelm and my brother, Dave are exactly the same height. Judy looks just like her father but people regularly think that Terrick is Wilhelm's son and Lindy is my daughter. Diana, do you also find that moms are closer to their sons and fathers to their daughters. I also think the sun shines out of my sons  arse

Me & Susan, my daughter.

Susan and cousin Hildelee  -  going for a role in The Dukes of Hazard 2 with their makeshift armadilla hats.  They had the people doubling up in the street  -  silly girls!  Just bought the two things in Game and 2 mins later they were creating havoc in the street with it.  Darn sorry I did not have my camera with me when we went shopping...

Baie dankie meneer Alexander!  We will stick to English, so all the other can understand us as well...

Just something small I should mention:   did you lot know that my daughter has my mothers full names, but that I had called her Susan from the day she was born, thus naming her in that way after my life long friend Susan?

Susan, you & I should dig out some of those old pics of the two of us together in OMund on that little 'piskriek' scooter thing I had.  Also there must be pics about us at the river and in the hostel together in Springbok.  Some pics taken in PTA as well (remember that Blackie and Bouwer guys......  say no more!)

My French is non-existent but I am planning on learning a few choice swear words for my next trip. Missed my bus in Paris and didn't know where to catch a train to Brussels, asked at the metro and the guy just shrugged his shoulders, must have thought I was British.

Well, everyone does have some skeletons in the closet..... he he he
I had such a laugh at some of these old slides that my dad, Big Dirk took ... they are all from way way back in the yesteryear.

To show you what Leon (my brother and I looked like after a day's play).  I must have been about 3 years old when those pics were taken.... oh my goodness, just look at the pot belly, dirty legs and look at the bloomer pants!  About the hair  -  Fiela se kind, straight from the woods !   We used to live in Aus at that time where my dad was the police station commander.  Rex, the dog was always by our side....  oh man, what carefree days those were !!!!

Pics 1 & 2  -  Leon, me and Rex...   hi hi hi
Pic 3  -  Leon on me.... at least we had some clothes on this time !!
Pic 4  -  Leon, me and Agan  -  I think it was near mile 108  -  this must have been in 1971
Pic 5  -  my dad Big Dirk, Leon and me at the old Van Stadens bridge in 1972.
