Who's honest enough to name their first crush in O'mund :36_4_8: ? I remember the boys knocking at the door, dropping off a love letter and then running away giverose . Yes, I had a shoe box full of those (I'm referring to letters, not guys ...). Some of those guys are on this site arse . Should I name them???? pls
should I ?? ja Ok . my first crush was my std 1 teacher . Miss Steyl ... I used to gaze at her dreamily in class .. even came first in class , that after being off for a month with glandular fever just to please her .. I used to even visit her at the teachers single quarters bearing gifts .. much to the amusement of her colleagues and pals ... an unrequitted love .. must have made me such a "pleasantly disturbed " individual for the rest of my life ... or was I just always like that ?? dreamy ??
Yes Sandy I remember thinking that Miss Styl was very pretty. She was my Sub B teacher.
Well I really don't remember who my first crush was,so I'm going to have to say it must have been my dear friend David Eyre judging by the amount of photo's I have of him.I also recall thinking he was far to short for me. If I'm not mistaken I think he was Barbara Eia"s first crush as well. don't hit me now Barbara I loves you.

Mine was Lionel Gillbee - his parents were Norval and Sheila - Norval and my dad were freemasons - they were also family friends - they were in fact my Godparents - I still have a photo at 1 of my b'day parties (± 8/9) where i'm staring adoringly at him in the group photo in the garden - i'm in the front row, he's in the back and i just about twisted my neck off to see him.........oh, young love.........
Oh Diana yesno
Yes David was my first true love....I never had a crush on any of my teacher.

Now you've started something Patricia yougogirl........so come on names please???? then I'll share. Oh boy - This is going to be fun. :36_2_35:
Ok, so here goes ... when I was 10 or so, I would get loads of love letters from Marcel Ruf (oh my God, Georg Senior and Georg Junior are going to have a field trip on this one ... iknow ), Martin Niemand, and a few others, with the usual 'I love you more than he does" style phrases. But my real big first crush was a guy called Werner Ewald :36_4_8: . I used to see him at the tennis club on Saturday afternoons and would get shivers looking at that cute butt of his :culo1:! He looked soooooo cute in his shorts.

Hi Patricia
No funny comments on that.... We also had our times and remember such things
Keep well !! Regards to the rest of the family
Daddy Georg
My first crush was was in Std Five and it was Billy Linaker. I think all the girls liked him.
Okay. You're all being honest. So I'll give it a try to.
I just remember having had crushes on almost any girl I knew in those days. One or two of them are even on the board. hihihi
Even as a man of over 40, being married for the second time (forget whatever else happened) I still can't tell what these days realy meant.
Puberty is just I time of being near unconcious at times. That's the way I remember it.
Is this going to be a typical female dominated topic? come on guys...
Hey Sharon, I remember Billy Lineker..........he was in school with me while I was in O'mund. My memory of him is of him breaking his legs when we were kids.............I think he fell off a roof or something!!! Jeez, do you know if that's a correct memory?
I remember a boy playing Superman ans jumping from a garage in the 70s.
@Rhona, I think Billy broke his leg or hip on that metal roundabout at the school..... if memory serves me!~
@ Georg jnr, I remember adults, pissed drunk scotsmen jumping of garage roofs into portapools thinking they were superman, Alan Delaney was one, and actually took the corner piece of his garage roof with him into the pool!
Those were the old means of breaking bones. And now? Brawl on soccer-field...
Jeez Mike; the roof sounds way more exciting..............but either way we'll settle that Billy broke a leg, poor guy! bet wearing plaster in the heat was no fun..........also you're older than me and I was always told to respect my elders!!!
Gee! The Cheek of it... I ain't that much older than you... you just lost an animal bar Kid!
That Alan Delaney fella, who took a chunk from his garage roof..........was that when we were kids, cause I remember going to a braai at some house that had a huge great dane and the ''adults'' climbing up on the garage roof, then hearing a crack and then a huge splash as one of the fellas fell off the roof straight into a round pool. As for the animal bar................I'll stick one in the post for you old man
Thats the man, the late Alan Delaney, your folks will remember them, the sons were Neil, Chris, Scott, Craig......the house was down at the end of 7th in the desert almost, new section.......
Seeing that you're younger than me, should'nt you be in bed at this time already?
:sorriso2:
Don't forget you guys have two hours on me; so that means you're another two hours older than me......I remember the name Scott alright...........bloody hell are you sure it was at the end of 7th, in my mind it was miles away, I remember taking the bus there with Paul.............that dog used to scare the beejesus out of me
The saddest thing is - I cannot remember the name of the boy who I had a crush on - it was in my st. 4 year. But I remember the boy who first had a crush on me in my st. 2 year, just after we arrived in Oranjemund. His name was Adri - wrote me a letter to ask for the "kys". Many afternoons he would trap his bicycle from somewhere in 11th ave to 1st ave for a kuier. Shame, he stood no chance, for my brother Leon and his tjom Johan Steyn, would terrorise this poor guy. Made him drive over planks with nails in, had to climb over the wall etc. He was quite persistent, but eventually gave up the chase in fear that he might loose his "Family jewels" - the two maniacs actually told him they were going to do so!
My first crush was on Stephen Fields...along with every other girl in O/M in the mid 60's....but from the story i heard of his teenage years with the girls here thankfully we left..i am still trying to find him as he is still 1 person that i cannot find as part of my time in o/m..........
I got a txt 1 day out of the Blue from John Van der hoovan askin if i remembered him as he had never forgotten me cause i was his first girl friend.......i sure did remember him and had a great night with him at sandys and................................. i think ive already told you all this before :looser1:
:buffo1:lack os sleep ....and all that

Georg jnr - That's your attempt at being honest ??- PITIFUL to say the least. :emot78:......come on Georg you can do better than that - share pls
And as for the rest of you rambling on - FOCUS
Patricia - yougogirl
My turn - If the truth be told my secret, secret crush was Ivan Bester (Hi Ivan), but that doesn't count because every girl in Oranjemund had a crush on Ivan and besides we didn't stand a chance against Paula. So I must confess that Mel Ebstien was my secret crush. giverose

Two names I remember:
Lynette Bezuidenhout and Ingrid Harris.
Lynette is on the board now and then, and we've had a short chat.
Whatever happened to Ingrid?
So Sandy. How about you. hihi
congrats Georg. I remember the name Ingrid Harris. I think we went to the same high school.
How about me what?
Hi Sandy.
I think I've asked you befor. Do we know each other?
Yes! How about you? Well then give it a go....
dawoman
Hi Georg,
We should know each other being the same age, but I'm not sure. My sister is Heidi and my brother Shaun, ring a bell?
I gave it up Georg, named my secret crushes for all to see giverose
Don't remember your names. Saw you mailing with Niky on the board. I know Niky well. We were in one class till he repeated. Were you in his class then?
Got any pics from then and today? May help.
Sorry I asked you about your crushes again. Been topic-jumping to much again. Must have overseen yours......
Hi Georg,
I was already in high school when we moved to OM. I think Nicky was in the same class as my sister. Can do a today pic but have no photos of our time in OM, mysteriously dissapeared with the passing of my dad. Will see if I can dig something up.
Thanks. Would be great.

@ George Ruf.
Is your mom's name Inge?
I remember a lady who I think is your mom.
She worked with my mom at some point.
What I remember best of her is that one day I was at her (your ?) home and she made some sort of cold meat salad. Different polonies with mayonaisse and so on. I thought the woman was weird cause I have never seen any one do that, BUT untill today I still make it and love it.
What I also remember is that she taught me to dust with a damp cloth. Think someone in your family was allergic to dust maybe.
Ok, now you all can go back to remembering your first crushes.
Stephanie
Yes that is Georg jun Mum
