Michele came back from a meeting at the school to tell us all that at the end of the road was a herd of 26 Gemsbok's, they must be the same herd that Alfie saw a few days back...so we grabbed the kids and camera and shot of down the road...... amazing herd.....no matter how many power cuts we have and no matter how much shit we have with the politicians, moments like this remind me how lucky we are to live in Oranjemund, Africa..... about half an hour after we had left them, my daughter came calling us all outside, and all down the length of 6th avenue the cars had stopped, the residents from the houses out of their yards, camera's and video's running, evening time and the street was filled with the same herd, wandering down the 6th on their way to the 5th avenue park.... it was awesome...... lifes great!

Ya! It's actually strange to see such a large herd in town at that time of day, especially in the middle of town!
Is it very dry in the vicinity? The boks don't look thin. Maybe the green grass of the lawns are the main attraction - tastes better than the grass outside town.
Yo - maybe they are moving in, 'cos so many people are moving out - creating a new Animal Farm situation for themselves!

Live on the farm, situated between Olifantshoek and Kathu in the Northern Cape area - the front porch of the Kalahari. Can be very dry here, but we had good rains this season, so we cannot complain. I have offices in Kathu, Kuruman and Olifantshoek, but I work all over the country - from Tshikondeni in the far north of Gauteng, Bloemfontein, Kimberley and even Cape Town sometimes. So, like Paula has said - I am where ever I am!
