i visited oranjemund around 1995 for 2 weeks. we stayed with phil and tikki gerrard who were friend of toni and podge tresadern. dont know if any of you lot remember them. i just wanted to say how much i loved it there. the people were so friendly.  we also went river rafting on the orange river. me and friend were in south africa playing proffessional cricket at the time and we played in a game at your annual meeting with klienzee too.
we got on great with some of the younger people there too. we would have been 18 or 19 at the time. i remember getting taken to a shabeen on the outskirts of town by a group of youngsters led by a lad called vickers or something like that.
i would love to visit again.....it seems such a laid back lifestyle.   is it anything like that now or has it been spoilt and everyones left.
i also remember gordon..... i think he used to be the butcher. i bumped into him in the fox and hounds pub in boatsig in capetown a couple of times before he passed away.
anyway...great memories of the place

i first went to capetown to play cricket in 1994 and toni and podge looked after me for 6 months.

i played cricket with podge at edgemead

Just that Stephen played cricket with Podge back in the day 1980. Thought perhaps you were from that time, but you look to young unless you've aged well. We had a re-union type thing at podges pub "Chill out" at the beginning of March check out the photo's under Anything goes - March re-union something like that don't remember off hand what the topic was called but would be in the first 3 pages I guess. I knew Toni as Toni Sumter. Stephen also played country district cricket in the late 70's.
