Probably was something very rare then, and also didn't have so much preservatives and other poisonous sh*t in them.
Wow and the prices of clothing - R2,50 for men's shirts and R1,99 for ladies' summer tops!  The price of a Wilson toffee!

My Mum  made her own yoghurt .. she got a piece of the  plant ( culture ) from Karen Singer , the genuine  bulgarian yoghurt .. Charlie as we called him  looked like  cauliflower .. each day he was removed from the  yoghurt he had created .. carefully washed in   tepid water  and then  put back into  fresh milk that was allowed to stand to room temperature ..  the yoghurt was nice thick and creamy and had a nice tart  taste ...  excess yoghurt was turned into a stunning  cream cheese by putting it into a  muslin cloth and straining out  the excess liquid ..   from  heaven and full of  goodness ..

Oh Sandy the memories, I remember the plant your mom had it was at your house that i seen one for the first time. And yes it looked like a cauliflower. Tasted fab. I used to make my own yaghurt but not from the plant...had one of those machines...not as good as the real thing....I wonder if you can still get those plants ...
