Seeking Au Pair job

Hi guys.A freind of my daughter would like to learn more English by working as an Au Pair in an English speaking country.
I promised here I'd try it via the board. I hope everybody knows what that is. At least I don't remember hearing anything of the kind when I was in Africa.

Jnr, sorry, now that I see this, I remembered your Pm...... We know of Au Pairing in Africa, the only thing, is in most cases, they leave here to do Au Pairing overseas in first world countries.... I have yet to hear of somebody coming out this way to do it..... perhaps somebody else knows something....

I reckon here in Namibia, it would be very difficult, the powers that be are still very narrow minded and tend to go overboard with work permit issues.....

Au Pairing is very common throghout the UK and the USA.

The magazine called 'The Lady' has many adverts for this sort of work.

The au pairs get around £90 per week and all board and lodgings.

Many doctors, solicitors and other such proffessionals use as a means of cheap babysitting and cleaning.

Here in the UK I know they can apply for a student visa and do english courses whilst working as an au pair.

I agree with mike`s statements getting a work visa in Namibia is almost impossible home affairs themselves have admitted they have a major backlog and problem, If and that's a big IF a work visa is granted it will almost defiantly only be valid for 3 months at a time.

Hate sounding negative africa is definatly an eye opener for any one from Europe give it a go you have nothing to loose,I could give you some help with the paperwork if you need any.

I know of many people who use Au Pairs in Cape Town. Mostly local girls, a friend of mines daughter has been doing this for years. It seems more people are opting for this rather than leaving their children with the maid or sending them to daycare.
Unfortunately as Michael has said most girls go overseas to do this. I suppose due to the exchange rate they earn better.

I don't know about anybody in my area using au pairs.  Probably not moving in the right circles like Diana. 
However, a lot of our local lassies are au pairing in the Netherlands, USA and UK.

My daughter got placed as an Au Pair in South Africa through them. Money is reasonable (in RSA terms).

I've told Lisa to sign up on the board so she can interact herself.
Maybe somebody out there has interest in an au pair or knows somebody who does.
