Actually a positive tale, albeit a wee bit sad....

As previously mentioned on the forum, the Yacht club no longer operates as a club, due to the lack of European descended individuals who enjoyed this pastime  ..... the club structure started to fall into a sad state, and the mine eventually allowed a local private concern to use the place....... the new owners are apparently not mining for diamonds with all their trucks and lorries , but intend to open an entertainment venue of sorts......

So on my trip to the beach this morning , I was pleasantly surprised to see all the activity on the go.....

Good luck to the new owners and their plans. But yes.... sad indeed. I was hoping to go for a stroll down the edge of the pink pan when I visit to jolt the memories a bit.

That jetty ,, I was thrown off it  into the  basin  at 12:00  on the eve of my 21st ... kind of sobered me up a bit ...

Very good memories and sad to see it go. Oranjemund will never be the same with all what's happening to the plants as well.  madashell
