Well, you heard how the police are clamping down in a big way in Oranjemund.... a lot of bar owners are pissed off with how strict the police are being with the laws....

If you serve an intoxicated person and you are caught..... $1000 buck fine for both of you....
If you are a shebeen and a person carries the booze outta your place...... $1000 buck fine for both of you.....

If you leave a bar and you are walking home drunk ....... $1000 buck fine...

If you are running a bar and your license closes at say 02.00 am and the police come to your premises after 02.00 am and find people still consuming booze that they bought before 02.00 am... ... then $2000 fine for all people still in the bar including the bar owner...

The list is endless .........

I would say a bit hectic .. sort of nanny state thinking.. sure there are problems ,  but the same in CT  they clamp down sooo hard ... and yes there will alway be the cop with the open back pocket ,, so all they doing is increasing the chance of bribery occurring  ??   thats my 2 $   worth    cat1.gif
To see  sometimes  requires that you  first believe .

Oh so cool... What a circus. Do they think that clamping down on legitimate watering holes is going to solve the drunken delinquency issue in Namibia. The pisso's are drinking behind the wall... they know that they're being watched.

I know of a house in 1st Ave that runs (ran?) a shady shabeen and is well supported by the neighbouring cops. The other residents in the area complained to me hoping that I could get something done to curb this as the raucus carries on until the wee hours. I used to live very near to the said place and was wondering about all the taxi traffic to and from the said residence.

How about picking up the penalties on serious crimes... you get a heavier sentance for stealing a goat than for rape. Where is the justice???
All things electrical contain smoke. Making it come out is easy; getting it back in? ... yeah right!!!
