Not bad; about what I pay.  Lucky me - bl***y Eskom blew up my router but was still 7 days in warranty so Telkom gave me a brand new one - not often a parastatal does such good!

laptop dearheart ..  charge the bugger and  then run it down  .. then  charge it again .. in fact  the  charger and the battery are good  spike absorbers ... and the  wireless connection worksoff the PC supply anyhow .. sort of  bombproof ..

Some tips on laptop batteries not lasting as long as they used to:

Remove the battery pack. Bang it down hard on your desk or any suitable surface. Replace it in your notebook and run it down. Charge as usual. If the problem persists, replace it.

Never leave any NiCd on charge for longer than 14 hours. Even if the charger has a "trickle" function. This applies to cell phones as well.
Never run down a NiCd till it's completely flat.

The nr.1 killer of these batteries is overcharging. When they are left on charge too long, crystals begin forming inside which shorts out the cells. By giving it a hard tap, it is sometimes possible to disloge these crystals and save the battery.
