3 plant .first jetti. construction on this one was stopped- The Atlantic was in a stormy mood , and company realised that they underspect the support pillars , and it was too low as well .

Alfred Boehme

Hennie
So the short jetty was never used

henniek

I seem to remember that the construction company was LTA ? but stand to correction. The short jetty was not used , just abandoned

henniek

henniek

my goodness. there is just about nothing left of the 3 plt jetty . and just a short piece of the original to be seen !!!

Alfred Boehme

Dif between 400 and 800 was tons per hour, 800 they could do bedrock cleaning under the bridge while still moving overburden, 400 they had to move site for the bedrock guys to clean and then return to move more overburden

@Hennie, that is how far the sea has been pushed back, one can see that there is a slight bulge out into the ocean, whereas 50 years ago, the coastline was quite straight, scattered with bays.... in theory, the mine should be able to start mining all over again, if they can keep the sea's back.....

Here's a better view of that bulge.....
