A Spar representative was invited to a meeting hosted by NAMPOWER and NCCI this afternoon in Oranjemund.

Kudu gas will be built at Uubvley, 1500 Temp jobs will be created for the 28 month building period . Thereafter 80 permanent jobs will be based in Oranjemund. Roughly 20% of these will be held by expats due to the highly sophisticated technology being employed.

Turns out the excess power will be sold onto the Zambian copperbelt and not South Africa at this stage.

The gas needs to be scrubbed at source, so this will entail a floating ship at the platform out at sea which will house 200 employees.

I guess the local airport is going to boom!

When the official opening happens at least 800 guests will be in town,

Lifespan of the current field, 15-20 Years.

Construction to commence towards the end of next year....

So if all things go our way, our town is about to become the "Dynamo of Namibia" ~ generating for Namibia.....

A source informs me that the Kudu stakeholders visited Uubvley today for a site visit.....

Anyone know if the rumour of Kudu wanting to takeover the entire Uubvley complex having any substance?
