We never knew where they were the night before, perhaps there were some of their compatriots still with them in the kitchen,

After all, this was E7/1st avenue, Oranjemund, South West Africa, sometime during the late 70's.... Sunday morning, east wind day, this particular wind would always make the sounds of the the gunfire emenatting from the Namib Gun Club somewhat louder that usual....... The curtain always tended to drift in a different direction than the usual manner,...... i would lie there, dressed in OPS PT shorts, the one with the white stripe down the sides.... Kicking my duvet off, the warm wind pushing the curtain back, "not bad for a SundY morn?" , I would think to myself...... In the distance the repatitive sound of some person shooting a clay pidgeon down at the Namib Gun Cub, ...

From the northern end of the township, I could hear the sound of what initially appeared to be a lawnmower engine, throbing through the east wind..... I focused my young mind, sitting up in the standard CDM spring laden bed, I realised the boys down at the racio controlled flying club, based out of the Mule Derby were up early this morning.......

Listening to those sounds, I realised, that I could smell somebody cooking a mean Sunday Morn Breakfast.....

yes .. I first thought it was someone setting off crackers - but it was some one actually firing a gun
