Who remembers John Voster the prime minister of somewhere in the 60's that was suppose to visit Oranjemund. All the buildings in central of town was painter a blue coat. We as kids were hoping for a day off school, our parents getting themselves ready for a big dinner gala with the PM. A couple of days before the big event the visit was cancelled.....

I remember that, at the time politics was a unknown factor in my life.

Was this big flop not arranged by the big nationalist king pin of the time, Mr Delport?
I remember hearing the special food and cigars that had been arranged for this big flop.

arrive at the grave safely
in a well preserved body,
but rather to skid in sideways,
totally worn out, shouting
'..holy sh*t ..what a ride!

Mr Delport  .. short man  .. little snortjie  .. buxom wife  much bigger than him  .. they stayed  diagonally across the road from us in  2nd ave .. he always  reminds me of the  father in  the  series  " Die Sonkring "

I saw somebody today who asked if I remember the incident, and she described Mr Delport exactly as Sandy did.  She also mentioned the special crab legs and expensive champers that were imported for the event.  Anybody know the exact year?
