Yep! THE braai's were either at their house or our house, and Larry almost knocked the Bejesus outta me just for pointing a toy gun at him..... I never did that again!

I can remember my folks having a lot of braais back when we were kids and all of us kids would end up playing tok-tok on the neighbours doors.

When one thinks of the braais back then it was nothing for the host to provide the meat, drinks and salads -  how expensive life has now become and the "bring and braai" came about.

Michele, you've got to appreciate the irony (in this towns collective mind anyhow) of of you talking about the cost of things :).

Claire, I remember shortly after your dad giving us a lecture on why not to point a 'loaded' finger at anyone, I accidently shot Laurence between the eye's with his pellet gun (I though the gun was empty - exactly the sort of thing your dad was warning us about) I honestly believed that this was my last night on earth... The Irish terror was to be upon me... :)

Hmm, will remember this when you are looking for something liquid from Spar on a Sunday or public holiday!

Hi  Paul

2nd ave Braai were always the best - the doges name was Eira then the other one was called Rory.  My mom and dad always did love dogs.  They had two Japanese Akitas - but one of them died.  Anna and Larry still live in Belfast and are both doing really well - Dad is now working for Mercedes on the tools and my Mum looks after my two boys while I work.  Life is good.  Kethleen is sorting through some photoes so that i can scan them in and send tem to everyone.
Loads of your Mom and Dad and many more.....

Wow, when you mentioned silkworms I immediately thought about the long alley and the moerbyboom there. It was the only tree I knew of in the whole town from which I could get leaves for my silkworms. Amazing! And when we got sick of the silkworms, we just took them to the tree and let them go in it!

When I was there, the tree was huge and the whole section of the alley was dark. We were always shit scared going down it!

There was another scary alley I remember: bedind the pre-school (next to that grass circle where an army puma once landed, there next to the power station) there was tennis courts, and they were connected by this alley that had this extra high walls. It always freaked me out walking down that alley!
