Did you see the Africair sign on the tail, Mike? Almost looks like somebody painted it onto the foto. Did these airlines realy exist?
Nothing special. Just some clips I put in youtube.de

Forwarded the pic to my dad.  Pity he's still scared of the computer, he could give nice input on the old Oranjemund stories.  Got him as far as e-mail, so who knows, maybe I'll really get him online one day!
Regarding the "migrants pic" - He says the airline did exist, they were subcontracted by CDM.  It was an inbound flight for they have little luggage - he said the outbound flights had more luggage than humans!  He also recognizes one of the men, but couldn't remember the name.

Quite a thing to  see  the men at the end of their contracts  . laden with luggage .. its a wonder they did not have a roof  carrier on the aircraft .. anyhow they would all bundle in with their luggage .. then one  would  see the  dakota  labouring down the runway .. and do an  extended  and  also laboured liftoff  from the  excess weight  it was carrying ..  but  each time  those  invincible  aircraft would somehow  get up  into  the  air  .. engines    growling away in  protest  and  carry the men  safely  back to  their  awaiting  families ..  Ouch !  just had a moment .. could almost feel their fear as they took off ,, the bumpy flight and yes  the relief at landing and the tears of joy  at being  reunited with their family again ,, they were special  people ..  gave us  so  much as kids ..
To see  sometimes  requires that you  first believe .

Yes, there were some good souls.  I remember when I was small, "Heino" looked after my Dad's birds when we went on holiday.  He taught me how to draw a lot of different animals. Very nice guy.
