This site would be nothing without you guys, no matter where you are in the world, as long as you knew where the Town Pool was and you knew that the Sand Quarry was a lekker place to hang out or play as a kid, then you know Oranjemund. You are part of Oranjemund....

No matter how small that memory may be, no matter how forgotten it may be, No matter what decade you lived here, you might be enriching another Oranjemunders life, by rekindling a long forgotten memory....

Please don't be afraid to post a memory in here, no matter how trivial it might seem, we all belong(ed) to that unique town in the desert..... The diamond Capital..... no matter what language you prefer, post that memory or photo you have..... it will enrich this site ..

Without you this site is not complete...

Thanks
Mike

I remember the day we arrived - The mad Irish family , comeing from a world of terrace houses with not much of a garden. A house with stairs.  Shopping trips in Belfast that you didn't know if you were going to come home from.  Army barracaids and police searches when going into the town centre.  Snow and constant rain to ------------ to a big three bed room house with a massave garden ,  going to the park on our own and not having to worry.
Swimming out doors in the sun shine -  NO F-ing RAIN. SUN SHINE - First ave bushes - Wild life on your door step.  Spending time with our parents - BBQ - SUN SHINE - no stairs.

I remember our first couple of days - getting bread and milk deliveries.  Milk in a bag , what a strange world we had come to.  Going to the shops and not having to be searched for bombs.
the only thing I never liked was the sand stinging your legs when the wind blew - or having my Dad dig the thorns out of your feet.  So many care free days that we all took for granted  oxox
