My father just phoned me to let me know, that when he phoned Renee Waddington to offer his condolences for the passing of Derek, he was told that his good friend and true Oranjemund Character, Keith Robinson (Scouser) , passed away last year....

His wife, Pat is in a nursing home in Oz......

My father has a painting done by Keith hanging in his home and a bottle of beer, a Dumpie castle, I think from 1978, labeled Keiths Beer, with the date.....this was the last beer he never consumed at the airport before leaving Oranjemund...

May he rest in peace....

Sad  to  hear  of old  Keith's passing ...
To see  sometimes  requires that you  first believe .

Sad to hear about Scouse ......... I had no idea he had passed away too as well as Derek.

Keith fixed me up with a job at Hamersley Iron in Paraburdoo back in 1976 when I arrived here in WA from Oranjemund. It was fate; by chance I just happened to bump into Keith right smack bang in the middle of Perth one afternoon.

A few years later I repaid the favour as I was able to get Keith a job up on Bougainville in PNG. I don't think PNG was quite ready for Keith............ they sort of wondered what had hit them when Scouse arrived with squeeze box in hand. He soon proved to be very popular up there.......... he was a whizz kid in the workshop, the local tradesmen had never before seen anyone as talented as he was with his hands.

Our eldest son Scott and his girlfriend went to Albany a few months ago.......... I asked him to call in on Scouse and give him my regards. He got no answer.............. now we know why.

RIP Keith ................. yet another sad loss.
An' the silent night will shatter
From the sounds inside my mind
For I'm one too many mornings
And a thousand miles behind

Jock was recalling a story today, off a time when Keith was sitting on the top of the tables in Caseys' (As the menfolk did back in the day), he whipped out a mouth organ and started to play, Not sure why, But for some reason ol' Jan Mathee came over and "confiscated" the mouth organ, as he turned and walked away.... Keith whipped out a smaller one, and like a naughty kid continued to play a smaller tune....

I dont know how many paintings Keith actually did but I think that it would be nice if we could photograph the ones we have and post the photos on this site for all to enjoy.

It may encourage others to do the same.

When next I visit my Mom I will photograph those she has

Rhona perhapse you could take a photo of the one your folks have and post that as a start.

Good plan 99 - next time I visit my folks I'll take the photo
