OTMCO tries a fast one!

I was at an emergency meeting held this afternoon.... the meeting was called by the local NCCI and a few concerned business folk..... The hierarchy of the mine has tried to help the business community sustain itself by graciously placing a moratorium on the yearly rental increase.... and in some cases would even consider a decrease in rentals of some business's as long as you were willing to open your books to the mine to prove that your turnover had decreased..... this was communicated to the community at a meeting held a while back..... however, some clever person in OTMCO sent out letters stating in essence that if you were prepared to sign a particular document, agreeing to pay for an installation of an electric meter and to cover the costs of any maintainance work that needed to be done on your leased property, would the decrease in rental come into effect...

Gee! do us a favour..... The company giveth and the company taketh.....

This town is getting really really quiet from a business perspective..... and the next batch of VS people are about to leave as the school term comes to a close.... this afternoon I counted three advance trucks at the end of this street, and three transport containers on the neighbouring streets..... a lot more business;s are gonna close..very soon...OTMCO should come out of their shells and support local.... otherwise they will be leasing empty buildings to and empty town, with the sands creeping in.....

Does the meter mean you are going to be charged for electricity? Like in any normal business in any normal town? or does it just mean that they want to see how much electricity is being used? Surely we can't have every thing our own way all of the time?

The meters is already in ORMD. Why not put them in in all the houses and businesses, providing it can be proven that you are not paying for the place next door. Some garages at the residentials get the electricity from the house next door! Reduction of rent and paying for electricity sounds fair.

I do not think that anyone in private enterprise has a problem with paying for power, lets move into the real world, however the way that OTMCO Amalgamated the installation of these meters (at our cost) , the introduction of the tenant paying for the building maintainance  and the carrot of rent reduction all into one letter, without consulting stakeholders was the wrong way to go about this.....

I also have a problem with the actual power distribution in Oranjemund, the shopping centre complex is a prime example of electrical wiring going haywire..... I know of a house in Omund, where certain parts of the peoples house is wired from a street light..... and thats not done illegaly, but from the old town electrical days...

get the house in order....

How much money was spent by OTMCO on those chaps two years ago, that wandered the streets painting rocks white, surveying the town..... all the surveying was done years before and resides in the chocolate box.....
