Proclomation is dead...... well the politicians believe that it will still happen, certain community leaders believe the same

story..... However, lets face the facts...... I was talking to (Andrew Source)... I was enquiring of him/her if the mine, if

need be , would be allowed to mine down at the mouth or on the beach opposite the Yacht club.... to Which ANDREW Source

replied, with a wry grin, that the mine has a licence to mine any area of the Sperrgebiedt , I think it is up until 2022 , or

somewhere up there.... anyhow, in a nutshell he/she explained to me.... that if the company had a cost effective way to mine

through all the clay down at the river area, or the pan then they would be entitled to mine it........ in fact they could

mine just about anywhere in the Sperrgebiedt as long as they could prove that there were viable diamond reserves.... Now we

all know that there are diamonds all over the place, even in the town, as shown by a Bob Molloy article where a young lass

picked up a shiney stone in a park in town..... the tales of Malcolm Bertoni... diamonds in the foundations of buildings....

certain roads from the old days.... have stones in them.... in essence.... no matter how much rumblings the local NCCI make

to proclaim the town.... it ain;'t gonna happen.... well not just yet..... From my personal capacity.... I do not mind

this.... I enjoy the security... I enjoy the mystery that is Oranjemund.... I enjoy being able to claim to live in one of the

most secure towns in Africa..... On the offside, I do wish that the company would allow tourist and potential customers.....

easier access to the town on legitimate business......  just my 2 cents.....
