Louie Lankaar is deceased, but his two sons, Jimmy and Andre still work here, and Frans Pieterse was in town last week staying with his son in law Adriaan Van Rooyen, who is on this site, come to think of it , Andre Lankaar is also on this site.....

Sorry to hear Louie passed away................ he was a decent bloke. I think he was a chippy and he worked in the building section of town.......... on the other hand he could have been a brickie......... not totally 100% sure?

We went on yet another soccer trip (did we ever do any work in Oranjemund I wonder?) ...........down to Cape Town and we played against a mob who had the legendary Sir Bobby Moore as a guest player.

Louie was our team manager on the occasion......... and as much as I liked and respected Bobby Moore.. .... ...... it was somewhat disappointing to see our team manager Louie receive such a stern rebuff from same; when he requested Bobby Moore have a quick chat with our team in the hope we could pick up some tips and pointers........ and perhaps some motivation having just undergone a savage mauling?

From memory we were on the wrong end of a 9-1 trouncing ................ and our only goal came from our very own legendary 'Nifty' Neville Smith!!! Are the Smith Brothers still around............. there was Nev, Tony.......... and was there a Dennis too?

The guy in the back row next to Frans Pieterse was my brother-in-law, Allen Brown.

The higest love of all finds it's fulfilment not in what it keeps, but in what it gives.  We may give without loving, but we cannot love without giving

Hi Michael,

I was not there :(. I stayed behind to keep an eye on the shop.

But, by all accounts it was a cracker.
