OK. Take the positive viewpoint - it means sorely needed revenue for Namibia. As diamond mining dwindles what other natural resource can Namibia rely on to maintain a level of GDP for the nation? If for instance it transpires that the projected BPD (barrels per day) is overly optimistic and is only 25% of the estimates that can be sold globally in abundance, then what other natural resource does Namibia have? Tourism?

I think Namibia needs to embrace the prospect that oil will secure a future. Yes it is a finite future but it is there. And with the revenues genertaed, improvements to education, health, housing and other infrastuctures that will occur to elevate the standards of living for all.

That is provided corrupttion at government level do not prevent funds reaching the appropriate authorities to make the changes.

Be positive. It's oil or ...... sandunes. The choice is an easy one for me.
