The Game of Cricket to make a return to Omund!

Nice to see that some folk are interested in getting cricket up and running again!

With a game scheduled for this week between two departments from the Mine.

Only downside being the fact that the even though OPS was using the "old" cricket field, the ground , like most of the other areas of town have been left to the elements over the last 24 months and now needs urgent attention.

If only people could see what they have......



On another positive note....... I heard that there are now more than 100 OPS students actively playing hockey and the sport is experiencing a real growth spurt.....

About three years back I would often drive past the hockey field (the old soccer field to you really old timers)  and see nobody playing...... a few months later, on a Sunday, I would see a handful of kids playing the sport...... Now the Sport has been take up by the High School and is a rockin'

Whilst on a sports rant here, tis' was indeed great to see the local rugby club pick up pace and producing a power team once again to beat Keetmanshoop rugby team who were in town for a visit this past weekend....

Must be said, not all doom 'n gloom in the township!
