It was bound to happen as the town transitions to a normal town, where residents have to pay for water, UPROAR! Getting charged some of the highest water rates in all of the land, even though we reside next to a perennial river..... Locals are getting water bills that run into the thousands as they cannot see the leaks under the ground due to aging infrastructure.... But get told that they have to pay...

I don;t won't to get into it too much as I complained about how all this was going to turn out years back on this forum and nobody was interested...

Tree's are dying, lawns are not being watered.... crazy to think that DeBeers invested millions into the beautification of this town over the decades only to let it go to pot...

All the things that made the town unique have been taken away.....

Do you have water in the river?! Saw a pic from the Richtersveld campsite and river there was bone-dry! Dont feel alone about lack of infrastructure development.

Yep! Mike , three consecutive years now where the once mighty Orange River has dried up. This occurs in in the AussenKehr grape growing area about 80km upstream.

A lot of reasons for this including unfair use by farmers further upstream.

We are currently awaiting higher waters as the rain from the Transvaal reaches us.

Oranjemund still has water down here at the lower end of the river.
