...hehehehe! I for one do not feel like any drink this weekend,,,,, wat to much over the last week or so...time for a break..went to the Op My Stoep restaurant 2nite....packed and festive and I stayed alcohol free.... then some pr*ck drove at a heckuva speed with brights on behind me in a bakkie driving like a right tonsil...... I slowed down and he shot of and then did the same thing to the car in front of me, which happened to be my father in law..he slowed right down and when he was overtaken he switched to brights and the guy swerved and then sped off.... i have a good idea who it is...so will gryp him when i see him in the store next week...

Cognac is not sweet

Emotions ? Yes some but not to much, i had the urge to go there instead of to my fathers grave that has vanished in Russia. He was shot by german fire, unclear what really happened. The tragic part was, he was killed 3 month before my birth. I missed him my whole life......

By the way, all with the name of Georg Ruf.

The first time i was there searching, was about 15 years ago, by internet i contacted an organization that sent me details. Normal graves disappear after about 20-30 years, but those are maintained as a warning to all of us, now about 90 years. Mixed feelings standing there in the quiet forest. For 2 hrs, no car passed by, could not even hear birds singing as thought they want to keep the silence

I wont even ask the thoughts going through your mind but can well imagine them .. me and Paul sitting tonight after quiet  birthday dinner .. i booked  a table for 3 .. us two and a place for our absent life friend ..  we  toasted me and my fine life partner and for him a good friend .. got  on to how  we move  on and how life moves along .. what was once darkness 11 months ago is now  becoming more and more light .. and then ultimately we move along  with the good memories .. for you so different to go to the grave of someone you have a parental connection but never knew , but yes deep in your soul you do indeed know ..  ask for all the final answers in your dreams .. they will come and final closure ..

@ Georg Snr.  I can just imagine the emotions and thoughts going through one's mind.  I also believe it was something that simple HAD to be done, for inner piece.  Well done.  And well done to the people who keep the graves neat and recognizable so lessons can be learned by next generations!

Thanks for sharing that Georg, it must have been tough..... a lot of the youngsters tend to forget their history and the tragedy of war..... the human cost.....
