If  the  weather holds up ??  me  feeling  as if  Winter is  trying to do a really good wave goodbye .. it feels as if  someone  left the darn fridge door open .. sun comes out and then suddenly a squall  and clouds and rain and the temperature drops ... up down  that seems to have been the course of the day ..  I normally dont feel the cold , but todays one of me times ...  making me feel  really grey in the head ..

Well it pured down buckets here last night, and a few showers today..... I had promised Michele that there would be no drinking and braai this weekend..... however after much moping around (it always works) she put me outta my misery and instructed me to light the fire just now..... I now have had 3 beers and the fire is roaring away in the cold wind, whilst I hit the keys listening to The Housemartins whilst sipping an ice cold beer, wondering if it was wise of me to lend my neighbour a six pack as I have severly depleted my own stock.......

Well, the TV was on, but didn't really watch the cricket anyway.  Just good to have something going on in the background.  Regarding my very eager painting spree - what a baboon!   affe-red  I ripped old telephone wires from the walls, and in the process, must have ripped one of my electronic safety gate wires at the reception's front door out as well......  Let's just say I have come to the conclusion that I'm definitely not an electrician!  Two hours later, and the damn thing still doesn't work.  I've tried all possible combinations with the wires and even laid down new wires from scratch.... can only get the thing to go on continuously or not at all.  Will have to open gate manually with key for everybody who wants to enter/leave the place until I can get the guy who installed it over tomorrow. image061

Broer Bertie...red wire to red wire...... Blue wire to blue wire.... and the green wire...welll just leave it alone... coz it's way to cool to mic with those other inferior wires....

Not that easy Mike.  It's two wires running from 2 different rooms each with it's own opening switch, then there's the transformer, and then there's the wires going to the lock on the gate.  Oh, and they used 3 different kinds of wires - so color-coding is out.  One is just like thin flex, one is like telephone cable (that's why I ripped it out with the old wires), and the other has 6 colored wires in them.  Too much for my brain!

Would have been great if I had a diagram - I'll be able to do it then!

First you switch OFF the opening switch THEN you run the wires form the one room matching blue with blue then red with red then green with green. Making sure you connect the flex with the flex and the telephone type cable with the telephone type cable. Repeat with the second room.  woo_hoo  It works.

Never mind the wiring .. Ive just bought two packs of thornwood extruded logs ( they dont throw sparks )  and have now lit a fire .. damm house is like a fridge .. everything has this damp feel to it ..  so a nice roaring fire to help drive out th e damp feeling .. and if that does not work at least it cheers one  up .. going to try my own home made rendition of the  tofu stirfry with chill and basil ...  wish me luck  .. lots of chillies to warm the  soul ..

Nothing like a chili or two to warm you up and get the circulation going!  Enjoy Sandy! PS - lot of rain for the last weekend of August hey, and I agree, it feels like a fridge here in CT.  It's probably snowing on the mountains - the wind is right for it.  I measured 41mm of rain in my garden this weekend, but stars are visible now - that's when the night gets real cold - no cloud blanket to keep us warm.

Me - decided to stop worrying about the wiring.  Will watch a movie while I finish my lab work, about an hour's work left, then off to bed.  Starting early tomorrow.

Keep warm all!

My feet are finally warming up - had a fire on all day still cold.  Eventually made a hot water bottle for the tootsies - toasty now.  It's as well I didn't go to my partner's last night - six metres of his roof blew off at 11.30pm last night.  He sat up the rest of the night baling out a paddling pool to keep from being awash.  Playing backgammon on the net - no movies on that I want to watch so probably go to bed soon.

Mmm dinner went down well ..  Yes last night some vicious weather  went down .. I woke up at about 2 with a feeling of trepidation .. the squalls are the worst ..  silence and then suddenly these huge   gusts wind then rain ..   bucketing down .. only mess was the water run off from the collection tanks was so heavy it washed a lot of sand out of the greenhouse ..

House is warm fire is stoked, just a slight cold spot in the study so I'm off to join the rest of the family in front of the fire.
Also start early tomorrow, at my desk by 05.00 but hope to be gone before 15.00 ( if all goes well) and home by 15.20 tomorrow.
Enjoy the rest of the evening.
