Just checking new posts and a quick dop. Going to bed very early tonite.
Up at 4 am tomorrow - Old school friend of mine coming from the platteland, meeting them on the N1 close to Stellenbosch, then taking them through to Tokai (American embassy). They don't know Cape Town at all, and he has to be there at 7 am. No way he'll find it in the traffic that time of the morning! He's going to change light bulbs for the US army in Iraq.

Then I have to be back in Kuilsrivier at 10 am, I'm giving a talk on herbal medicine for the old people (at least 60 of them gather every Thursday for cake and tea and get somebody to give a talk on something else every week). This week it's my turn. The lady who organizes it, is 77 years old, but extremely on the go and funny - doesn't see herself as one of the "old people". When I told her I'm nervous about talking in front of 60+ people who might have more experience than me in the field, she said: "Don't worry, half of them are deaf, the other half will probably fall asleep, so we'll just eat the cake and go!" Wonderful sense of humor, hope I can be like that when I'm 77!

She even leaves her husband in the car in the parking area at shopping centres, because he walks too slow and she gets irritated with him!

As my dear friend Rhona has just pointed out to me - this will be my 1000th post so I thought I'd liven things up a bit and share a secret with you all.

It turns out my famous omelettes got a bit out of hand and at the end of March 2009 Mike and I will be welcoming our third little Alexander into the world!
