Got me the MTN wireless option ... took  the 500MB/ month option to play safe .. R 249/month ..  you not logged  for time just Kb  downloaded or  sent .. so far it seems to be sipping MB  nowhere near my  allowance of 500 for the month maybe  I was a bit extravagant ??  or  is  there  some  shock awaiting me  , like a faulty fuel gauge ??

Mike, since we're here and finally Telkom installed ADSL, what a pleasure, that allows me to be "alive" on the forum.
Cost didnt break the budget either cheers

entering  the  end  of  my  first full  month  .. billing  for  over  allowance / logging  used  allowance  closes 7th ... so  far  has  proved  to  be  fast unless there  are network  difficulties ...  best  part  totally  portable with laptop  ... no  hunting for  wifi hotspots etc ...  just  dont  try downloading  music etc .. actually  in  SA its  still  mostly  cheaper to  just  buy  the  damm  CD ,, unless of  course  you  use  your work  facility ...  but  will  keep  you  posted  on how it  goes .. the  bigger  the  bundle one buys  the cheaper it  becomes .. only  drawback is  no  carryover from month to  month ,, what  you dont  use  you  lose ...

I just don't like the way they catch you when you exceed your cap limit..... I think if you are a big downloader, then it's still not viable......

ADSL will be there before the end of the year.  We have a programme called Netlimiter so that we know how much we have used.

Sandy have you received your first bill yet?  I have the voadacom setup and for the first 3mnths thet don't let you know if you've gone over your 500mb's.  Neither do they cut you off ,you just merrily post away thinking wow......then the bill comes.  We up ours to 2gigs@ R480.00 per month.

Mine has an indicator  that shows you accumulated traffic with reset facilty for  each  period  so  far I have done 140 .67 MB recieved and 38977 Kb sent .. so  so  far looks  good ... wait and see .. anyhow the  portable  convenience and speed are upsides ...

Mine told me nothing for the first 3months,hence the hugh bills. Only after did I get a reading everyday.

Connected in every way possible.  Still using the old dial-up on my pc  -  the bill is a nightmare.  Use the Vodacom wireless connection on my laptop  -  u can see ur usage when u open up the dialogue box where you click on the connect button, just click on usage and it shows u how much MB's you've used for the month.  Also got ASDL connection for my laptop in Kuruman office.  Sometimes use my cellphone internet connection also  -  link it up to my computer and log into the net that way  -  sort of works like the wireless Vodacom or MNet cards.

Updates total traffic each time you  open up and shows usage while on ...
