Hi Bev, I've noticed in a few threads on here you have been trying to find out what number you were in 2nd ave.  I took my parents out to dinner tonight , we spoke a lot about Oranjemund and I quizzed them on what number you might be.  My Dad vaguely remembers you living next door to the Castles but couldn't remember a number.  Sorry, but I did try for you!

Bev Coates (Now Walker)

Hi Teel,  Great to hear from you, and thank you for trying for me......strange isnt it that ive lawys known the number till mike asked everyone if they wanted photos taking......i ended up with 2 pics of wrong houses...lol........Are you Mel n Richard going to be at the reunion in november ??

Hi Bev,  no.... I would love to go but with a husband, 4 kids, a dog, 2 cats and 2 guinea pigs.... not sure how I would swing it? They'd all fall apart without me!  It will be interesting to hear all the tales and see lots of photos though!

Hi Bev,
With regards to your old address - we were in 55/2nd ave and as far as I can work out we were across the road from you so that would make your address out to be either 54 or 56/2nd ave. We had Percy Barratt on one side and Denise/Verona on the other. Hope that this will help you to get a photo of your old abode.
regards Gus (Angus).
Do you realise that in 40 years time, there will be a lot of old ladies walking around with tatoos?

Bev Coates (Now Walker)

Hi Gus....thank you for that......i thought it was 52/54/56.....but still not sure...think 56 sounds right..........do you remeber the underground den in the barratts garden....wonder if its still there....Mike....could you please take me a photo of 54 and 56 please.........then i can decide which number i lived at .....nearly sure its 56 now.......

I do remember the den - Percy,Phillip ,Peter and myself were the "diggers" - the plan was to dig under the road to the Castle's house - the destination being a pondock that Mr Castle had in the back yard. Luckily - I think - we were caught out - Mr Castle noticed sand on the floor in the podock and found that the floorboards had been loosened and upon lifting them found the hole that we had started from their side. there was olso a den in the hedge that they had around their garden - on the corner of outr yard facing across to your yard. iI seem to recall - somewhere in my memory - us dragging Sandy into there and smearing him with mulberries - from top to bottom - great hiding for that.

keep well Gus.

YUP ! sibling rivalry ,,I resembeled a  purple  people  eater  .. small wonder we did  not kill each other ... remember the one time  you  had really pissed me off   big  league .. so I bought  boxes of plaster of paris  on  Moms account nogal ... I  had this  vision of setting  you  in  the  bath  .. you  not  being  able  to  move  i  could  then  really have  my  uninterupted way  extracting  revenge  on  helpless  you  stuck in  the  bath ..    I  waited till  you  were in the  bath   walked  in  and  told  you  this  was  a  new  bath  salt  .. I  started  pouring  in  the boxes .. stirring  it  in   hoping  it  would  set  quickly ,,  and  then  Mom  walked in .. all  hell  broke  loose ..  usual  consequences ..  strangely  enough we  could  fight . but  let anyone  try to  touch either of  us  ..  we wuld  jump  in  ..  the  time  at  hostel I whacked Micheal Brusso with  one of  those long  taped  together  battery  packs  when  he the  big  ugly  bully   prefect part  of  lampies mafia  that  he was  was  messing  you  around  one  day ??

You tried to set him in plaster  :emot19:

The underground tunnel  thing  i  remember .. and  yes  Rhona  I treid to  set  my  brother in  plaster .. when two brothers fight it gets nasty .. like the one  time we had a fight  and Gus bit  me  on  the  bum .. it  hurt !!  damm  and  I  was  set on  revenge .. he  knew  it  and  kept a wide  berth .. i  again  set  my  mind  on  biting  him even  harder .. something he  would never  forget ..  patience has its  rewards   . I let it simmer down . I think  my  wait  was almost 2 months .. then one  morning  i happened to  wake up  early ..  went  to pee and  there i  saw Gus in  his  room   the  bedcovers  half tossed  off him  and  the  prize  waiting  for  me .. his  backside  sticking out of  the covers   he  was  sleeping  nice  and  tight .. quietly  walked in to  the room  ,, down on my knees and  then  .. well I  recall  that I salivated as  I  was about  to  sink my  teeth .. I opened mouth  wide to  get  as  much  flesh  into  bite .. and   then clamped  my  mouth  on  the  revenge  prize ..  he  must  ahve  thought  he  was  in  hell  cos  i  remember  him  howling  in  pain  that  was  even  more  of  an   incentive  to  bite  even harder .. all  hell  broke  out  in  the   house .. my parents rushing  in  to  be  confronted  with this  sight .. my  brother  thrashing  around  trying to get loose  and  me now like  a  bullterrier with lockjaw  not  letting  go ..  Mom  had  to give  me  such a klap  to make  me  let go  ..   the hiding I got was worth seeing  the  huge bruise  he  sported for quite some time ..  I recall  we  had spats well inot  teenage  years ,, then again  we  could try to murder each other  that was  fine  and  dandy but  let no-one else try  to  hurt  any  of us   cos  then another type of hell broke loose ... blood isafter  all  thicker  than  water  hey ??

Oh My God! NO WAY!!!! You are unbelievable - I'm laughing so hard at your story and I have to tell you that I love the way you tell a story........I can actually picture you kneeling down, mouth open - moving in for the  arse in slow motion and then the howls like a banshee and the fright your mom must of got on hearing said banshee..... and you never said a truer word - revenge is sweet
