This one's especially for Diana, Cherry and everyone who were there with you in 1968!
Do you recall the SOETKOEK operette which took place on 16-20 September 1968?  I have a program in my posession, I'll try to scan and attach it with this message.
Both Diana and Cherry were "Boerinne".  My sister Francie was a hen (with plaster egg and all!!!)
If the images arn't good enough to read the names, let me know and I'll e-mail it to you!

Jeez I remember all those names. Cherry and I mentioned Soetkoek briefly somewhere else, that she wore green and myself blue. Great that you still have the programme.

Great!
I have to do my VAT tonite (left it till the last day, me moron), so not much time for chatting.
Had a great surprise today - This afternoon I saw 2 of my OPS teachers here in my surgery.  Mr A.C. Visser and his wife, as well as Tannie Mossie Esterhuyse and her husband - all 4 of them popped into my surgery to say hallo!!!  They all look great.  Unfortunately I had patients waiting and couldn't chat much.  Will get together with them soon and send some pics!

Yeah, Diana and I had a giggle over "Soetkoek" and being boerrinne.  Reminds me of the saying my ouma always "maak vas die hoenders, hier kom die khakis" for some weird reason!

[Jeez I really hoped the smilies would disappear but ...]

I remember the names but also want to know if the handwriting belonged to our art teacher? I seem to remember writing classes in the small auditoreum. Or was that led by Mrs Schmidt?

I was only 3 at the time, and not yet in OPS, so sorry, no help there.  On the programme Mr. J.A. Wormser is mentioned for decor, and Mr. A.J. du Toit for the costumes.
Talking about hand-writing - My first music teacher, Mr. Pieter Small, had beautiful handwriting, I'll try and attach a scanned image of a letter he addressed to me in 1975.

Sorry, I must have been under the influence of gas.  Had Mr Small's name wrong in the original post!

DOes anyone have any photographs from the OPS play that happened in about 1977 called The Wizard of Oz?

I was there, but why don't I remember the play?  Could there have been 2 plays at the same time - one Afrikaans and one English?  Around that time, I took part in the play "Sneeuwietjie en die sewe dwergies", organized by Petra Aucamp.
Then there was also "Die seun en sy Hen". I was a robot in that one.

I mentioned this before somewhere, the Wizard of Oz, was a big play, it was done outside in the Quad area, where the Fish Pond was. They even built a stage over the pond and built a light box up on the Hall Roof..... This play ran for a week..... you walked outta your class straight onto the set...somebody must remember this..... I know I was;nt sniffing thinners in OPS, only in Std 9......

I do remember about it vaguely now!  The fish-pond did the trick!
You say you weren't sniffing stuff then.  Maybe they put something other than fluoride in that little white cups of milk we got at break-time, that's why you're on your own little yellow brick road?  He-he.  Remember them?  I remember taking nesquik powder to school to make it palatable.

A lot of kids brought Nesquick to school to try and kill the taste..... We were always given ours outside the small hall.....

I only did the sniffing thing in STd 9, caused me to fail that year....learned my lesson I guess....

Especially on hot days the milk sometimes tasted terrible!
I remember later we got our milk between the art classes and the toilets, across the Std.3 classes.
That was also a favourite spinning top area!
Will be offline for few hours (busy, busy, busy), keep well all.
