How can the OAU and the rest of the world stand back and let Mugabe stop all aid to the poor in his country and continue to reign supreme over a country that he has raped, pillaged and continues to prevent his people from leading a better life? Why don't they send in their troops to oust him and his cronies and allow a human being to lead Zimbabwe to a restored and brighter future?

Because there is no oil in ZImbabwe and because the masses are ignorant, they always will be...in Africa.... the minority blacks are educated and see this , but are so small in number they cannot make difference....

Remember what happened after the '94 elections in SA. After the ANC won, the ignorant masses arrived in the suburbs and began laying claim to the houses of the non-masses. "But Mandela promised us houses if we vote for him". Duh...

How else do you get voted into power in Africa. Exploitation of the ignorant masses. In Mugabe's case it's worked wonders. And yet they still vote for him... double duh...

Read in the papers the other day that Mugabe is using food as a political tool. Don't vote for me and you won't get any food. Think of the poor little children. Always the innocent that suffer.

Wasn't there a plot a couple of years ago to take him out? I'm not sure who exactly was behind it, MI6 or CIA. The assassin was supposed to shoot him Chris Hani style in the foyer of a hotel in London, but chickened out at the last moment. Bad assasin, no biscuit.

Carl there is a book called "SEE YOU IN NOVEMBER", its about a British SAS guy that worked for the Rhodesians during the war.
He was suppose to take Magabe out during the Rhodesian elections but was stopped at the last minute.
Very good read, can't remember his name.

Magabe is very lucky to be alive today.

Thanks for the info Mike. Apparently the SAS operator in question was betrayed by his own side at the last minute. Seems like our own Eugene de Kok was not the only war hero to be handed to the wolves by the "order givers" in parliament.

Robert Bruce

Call me sad and twisted but why involve the SAS when you have the homegrown Selous Scouts who train the SAS......and probably are waiting for the chance to do what that gay rights activisy has been the only one to do - get close to Bob!

The problem was the timing of the plan. The Selous Scouts had long since been disbanded at that stage. I think MI6 wanted the deed done by one of their "own" for propaganda purposes. Just to show the world that Britain will not tolerate this kind of treatment of it's citizens in Zim, dealt out by Mugabe and his cronies. Something like the Falklands, but on a much smaller scale.
