Hi Richard, did u get back into MGX ( Telkom ) after that ordeal. I saw you only a few years ago and U already forgot ? Old age my man . Checking u out on the photos I have with Eric , Chantal , Michelle days in Bellville.. I hope U doing well and regards to Debbie.. Julian

Hi Rainer, I came back after in 1979 after leaving in '69 and I will never forget the disco at the log cabin and the fiasco after I was dancing with one of the Barclays Bank aunties ( Lovely black hair ) and her fiance' , I think it was , just rushed me and the next moment I was lying outside on the grass. He kept on at me and I was just ducking for my life until you stormed this fitter and turner and kind of saved me ! I will never forget . Thanks Julian. Phillip Allen was there Gary brother of Richard was there as we were setting up the disco equipment in the afternoon before the event. Do you remember Robin Weeks and Gordon Keyeter. Anyway I rolled my VW Passat on the way back to play a soccer game and my incident was broadcast live duruing and live offroad rally they were having. After the soccer I returned and that's when Rainer saved me from being beaten up horribly. Anyway those two got married because it is in the Newsletter I still have. Julian

Richard Opperman

Hi Julian,

I was never involved with MGX...they were a company that took over the Bowe agency from my previous company that I worked for who went under in 2001.

I started my own company in 2000 and have just completed 10 years of operation.
My web site is www.amazipro.co.za

Debby and family are all well. We saw Rainer in September while on a business trip to Namibia. He has property in Henties and Okahandja.

I have some photographs of that log cabin party that I must scan and post some time.

What are you up too now days?

Keep well
Richard

Hey Richard

I met Jeff Quinton at Argyle diamond mines in '83 or '84.  He was working as a contractor with them.  He later moved south to Kalgoorlie and worked on the gold mines there.  Lost touch with him, but he must still be living in Western Asutralia somewhere.

We discovered we had both worked at Oranjemund - its a small world.

Hi Malcolm,

Yes Jeff is still in Western Australia and Debby and I have seen him quite often on his visits back to his home country SA.

His last visit was last year when his mom had triple by pass surgery.

Debby and I visit regularly with his sister Bev and her husband Geoff who are friends of ours and live up the road.

When you saw him he had just arrived in Australia with his wife and two small daughters. His wife left him in 1984 with the two girls and went back to Oranjemund and remarried. She is now in the UK.

Jeff also remarried later to an Aussie girl, with whom he had daughter, they are now divorced. He has remarried and has two sons by his present wife.

We hope to see him some time in the near future.

Keep well
Richard
