Here are a few more of Tuys's dad's slides that I have just scanned of the Xmas lights during the 60's...

Mmm amazing how it all looked so big when we were smaller .. ( who  sang the song  "when  I was small and christmas  trees were tall " )   ??  The nodding  santa claus i remember very well . we were very proud of our town and its  christmas lights ...
To see  sometimes  requires that you  first believe .

By the Bee Gees, I think

When I was small, and Christmas trees were tall,
We used to love while others used to play.
Don't ask me why, but time has passed us by,
Some one else moved in from far away.

Better to burn out then fade away!

Julie Vice (Willson)

Just wondering what an aerial shoot would look like
Better to burn out then fade away!

For some reason or other, those curved lights on the edge of the polls always reminded me of Gemsbok horns.....

was it just me? there were two on each pole half a metre long, curved with about 4 coloured lightbulbs on each...

Remember those lights with santa moving and singing. Great to see the street scenes with old Land Rovers, Mazda bakkies and ... Anglias.
