That's okay Carl. It's happened to all of us.
You're doing a good job on the board by adding topics, posting interesting stories and joining in on the fun with chat and games. In German we say (hope you remember) "Wo gehobelt wird, fallen Späne."

Thanks guys and Diana. I suddenly don't feel like such a newbie anymore.  bighug

Diana, it's quite easy. You call up your posting, click on modify, cut and paste it into the other thread, click save, and Bob's your auntie. You can only perform this on your own messages though, unless you know where Michael or Snr keep their passwords   :36_2_35:

Georg jnr, I'll have to ask my parents in law what that proverb means. My German is a bit rusty.

It only means, whatever you're doing you'll always be making/leaving dirt. Which means in your case: You're doing hard work and will make mistakes now and then. You're not perfect. And that's okay...

Carl, thanks for posting a photograph, I remember your Dad well (and I can see the resemblence )

As far as I can remember they cancelled Oom Wessies leave and he had to work so to make a point he pitched his tent on the circle and had his weekend that way, withoyt leaving Town.

Oom Wessie, Pikkewyn, Old man Spies and a number of others used to drink at Casey's on a Sunday evening and woud have what they called a choir session, singing allong with Fred Briers playing on beer glasses tuned with differnt levels of water.

I'm sure Sandy Buchannan will be able to remember these sessions.

Well I  worked  there .. so  yes i  remember all the  characters  and the eveningsit would buzz like a budgie cage ..  .. pictures floating around in my head .. will tell more stories once  the  relay  stck is thrust  into my hand again ...Sandy

Oom Wessie was a friend of my dads and always got very tearful when he visited us and told me how fond he was of my father. He was always a bit tipsy and it was so strange to see this grown man cry but my dad had a lot of respect for him and we all loved him.

@ Florrie, I agree he was a great man and we all appreciated him. We had good day in Caseys with him. The reason why he used to cry especially when he was drunk is he was a very emotional man. The best sports I saw was when him and Haaspie were together. Haaspie was Peter du Toit's step father. great snooker player especially when he had a few too many.

Hi Florrie, how you doing? I am pleased to know that you knew the Loubsers well. They lived next door to me in E15/12th Avenue. I am in contact with their step brother Peter du Toit. I believe from Peter that Kevin is in Witbank. I have not heard anything about Mark as yet. Will keep you posted if I get to know anything.

Regards,

Pepe

Hi Pepe, we lived at E14/11. I remember your name and where you lived. I think you are around my brother Dave and sister Diana's age. I was friends with all three younger Laubschers. Markie was living with Kevin in Witbank but has major problems which is driving Kevin insane. I take my hat off to him for trying to look after his brother, it isn't easy.

The first time I ever got pissed was at the Laubschers house, drank vodka and Oros, their mom called me "dronkie" after that  image201
when I got home my mom thought I was sick and was very worried about me untill I started falling around the place, I still remember her saying to my dad "she's not sick, she's pissed"  then they tried to find out were I had got the booze from, I didn't want to split on my friends so I made up a story that we found a bottle of wine at the swimming pool.

I was gated for the rest of the holidays  image031
