you guys remember the Body Building Club, used to be next to the Karate club.

Guys like myself, Keith Gass, 'Crow' (who I am told apparently committed suicide by walking into the surf some where) , Danny Rost, a guy with a nickname 'China??? I think', and others who I cannot recall now, used to spend many hours  'pumping iron' in this gym.

Diana Rudd (Boehme)

I do to remember the Body Building club and the Crow guy and China (de Jager) he married "Richards" Miss Style if I'm not mistaken.

Cherry (Alcock)

China (Joe) married Lynn Steyl - art teacher

Gordon Brown

Two kids; Jac and Liesel. A great guy China de Jager. He and Claude Short did body-building together.

Leon Sumter

yes I remember China as being a real on the go larger than life sort of guy. Can't remember Claude Short though?? Perhaps a pic will jog my memory.

I was never into bodybuilding, more like boepbuilding!   :ciupa1:

I always heard that if you started with bodybuilding, you have to stay with it for the rest of your life, otherwise your body turns to flabby hanging parts, (knda like Aunty Diana)   laughpoint

Oops sailing close to the edge there Mike     hammer  .. The "problem " is  that  while  active in bodybuilding  one has to have a higher  food intake to  build the muscle .. so when  the person stops  bodybuilding and does not  adjust the food intake downwards  in relation to the   reduction in activity  or total  stoppage of activity  then  they will pack on weight .. simple fact is  muscle  pays the rent  it  burns  energy ...  and yes a good  base of muscle  built up over the years can do no harm  and  if  food intake is  reduced and  combined with mild/ moderate excersise  ( like your swimming ) or even brisk walking  then that muscle base will serve  one well long into  ones life  keeping one in reasonable shape ..
A simple  equation ,,  here in SA they for whatever  convoluted  reasoning  dont have compulsory PE  in school  .. result more  flabby  youngsters ... not a  good   foundation  for later in life ..
To see  sometimes  requires that you  first believe .

Yes Pam, you have just jolted my memory now, I remember Keith being into bodybuilding as well, and yes in answer to a previous post Keith and I were on quite a few Kommando camps playing soldiers in the Namib desert in the area surrounding the water supply to Luderitz, I think it was called Koichab area. Wish I was doing bodybuilding at 62. So damn unfit these days, perhaps 2009 I need to start serious excersing (sic).
Some eye candy for Keith, I've also attached pictures of my 1974 Ducati GT750 which I completely restored after a minor accident I had. I sold the bike a few years ago to a Ducati collector. Too much traffic these days and too many drivers who are not alert to motorbikes.
A wonderful 2009 to you and your family.
