I knew the kid Gerrit Lottering, an extremely good athlete in his day..... trying to remember his nickname....

Gerrit lives in Windhoek  -  a keen biker.  Can maybe get his contact number from an old friend of mine in Windhoek who still sees him regularly (I think)...   when I get it I will PM you Gregg.
Life becomes harder for us when we live for others, but it also becomes richer and happier. Friendship is a sheltering tree.

To be clever enough to get a great deal of money, one must be stupid enough to want it.

Those who bring sunshine to the lives of other cannot keep it from themselves.

It is Robert Lottering I am thinking about  -  oldest brother of Nadine and Gert.....  still, I could find Gert's number from him.

Hows the local economy doing in Napier?

They don't have local economy there....  they thrive on foreign investment into their liquid assets .....

uh.....  meaning us non-Napierians who go get smoshed in their bars and empty their bottle stores.....      202

Dalene's not far wrong as far as some of the businesses go (1 bottlestore, +/- 4 drinking places)!

But to answer Mike...

Not good! Tho' we could do with a local Spar! --Hint, Hint--
(Nearest Spar is in Bredasdorp 16km away and it does reasonable business as it's the only one in the area).

A side benefit for Shannon is that she could attend Yeshua Private School... No Homework!

Have I convinced you yet? Haha.

No Homework, No Books, No roof?

I don't think so,

Whats the population of Napier?

Books available, Roof available.

5000 more or less. Plenty of room for growth as well.

Is the town growing at all? HOw much unemployment is there?
OPS 1976-1982 : CBC 1982-1988

Town growing. Slowly tho'.

Most of the 'whites' are retired people altho' younger crowd has started moving here.

When we came here in '04 town was about 70% afrikaans, 30% english. Now about 50/50 as most of the new and younger crowd are english speaking and hence a need for Yeshua Private School (English medium) which Janine started beginning '08 as the Primary & High Schools here are both Afrikaans as are the schools in Bredasdorp.

Unemployment is high amongst the 'coloured' population but they always seem to have money (mostly from begging I suppose as that is a problem here).

Economic outlook is not so good if you look at the number of shops opened and closed in the last 2 years - but this is a national problem by all reports.

Crime rate is low except in the so-called 'coloured' area. The rest of the town is semi-integrated without any major crime problems.

Finally, for now, Napier IS an acquired taste.

Oh but what a beautiful town.  Love that area, been there recently in my hunt for a "lappie grond".
