Shipwreck Museum....

Heard this at a meeting I attended today, the local regional councilor was asked what happened to our shipwreck museum.... he gave us a speech, informing us, that a delegation of people involved in the project, in conjunction with the German government went to Europe to go on a "fact finding", "Look and Learn", call it what you want .... trip to see how other famous wrecks are displayed..... the shipwreck museum is definitely going to be based at oranjemund and not Luderitz.... and we were told that the German government wishes to utilise solar energy to run the building....

So let's see where this leads us.....

U missed the time when certain woman complaint about the pulotion the Kudu Gas will bring to Oranjemund. Except for a few they all left Oranjemund. Maybe someone is under the impression that we do not have electricity here.

There was a document out a while back on the mine wide for tenders to renovate the old Autoelectrical workshop (W60) at Uubvley. Looks like one of the old loco workshops.
The place had to be fitted out with dust proof doors, an alteration to the panelled Oregon Pine roof and all sorts of interesting things for the experts to prepare the artefacts for display.

Makes no sense placing the museum on the mine, look at all the hassles one currently gets ftom the Ministry of mines and energy just to get a permit into the town, let alone the mine.....

Maybe if you have a criminal record it might be easier to get into the mine....

Michael... I didn't say it is the MUSEUM... they are prepping a lab of sorts for preparing the exhibit pieces. Remember that stuff has been at the bottom of the see and covered with mud and sand for near 500 years. If you just remove especially the wooden bits and let them dry without the correct leaching and moisture replacement process, you accidently sneeze at the exhibit and it disappears in a cloud of dust.
If only I had known this when I found that mast foot, perhaps it could have been preserved better.

Er.....Uhm...... well somebody mentioned a museum on the mine..... And I actually got to touch some of those beams when they were being kept in an undisclosed garage in town, whilst experts drew them...... They seemed in good nick and I reckon could still be used in a braai..........

Latest: I have been informed, that the Spaniards are back in town(actually they were in the store), a new crowd this time....... I also believe that a new museum will be built next to the power station.... well if the gov gets the funding...they are currently lobbying various groups for the project...... There are also a group of Gov officials in town , from the ministry of culture... youth and sports.... let see what becomes of this weeks adventure.....
