In the Australian budget for 2009-10

Single aged pensioners were given a $30 a week increase and Married aged couples were given $10 each per week

But the Politician's accepted an increase to their allowance's

This was an amount of $27,300 paid to each member and senator. Until now. The allowance, which had been fixed at this sum for nine years, rose by $4700, or 17 per cent, to $32,000 on May 1.

The politicians did not propose the increase, which amounts to $90 a week. It was proposed by an independent body, the Remuneration Tribunal. But the Labor Party and the Coalition agreed that the increase was a good thing.

Now I ask you WHO would want to be a politician..................................

Mmm  try  our  speaker and  for a few months deputy . Baleka .. she sulked when  she did  not get plum pos in new govt .. so what they do  pension her  off  at R 1.8 million per  year  that excludes the  car and other perks ...  our  state disability  and  pension  grant  amount  to the grand sum of  + - R 1000 per  month   that =  + - R 12000 per  year  .. her pension is obscene  in  comparison ..politics  yes  here I come !!
