When our folks would abandon us at home in the evening times to go to the SPortsmans, they would always return with those little packets of biltong and a small coke for each of us..... guilt compensation, no wonder I am overweight today..... ;D

Maisie  Gunn  was  booked  in  for  I  understand  a  sinus  surgery   on  the  same day  ...  She  still  wished  my Mom  well  and  Mom  to  her good  luck   .. something  about Maisie  giving her  watch  to  Mom  to keep   ( grey cells  are rattling  here ) ..   Maisie  never  came  back  from  the  theatre  ..  complications  with  aenasthetic ...   Mom had  two  major  events  on  one  day  .. an  arrival  in  the form  of  me  and  a departure  in  the  form  of  Maisie   .. I  include  a  pic with her  as  well   ...

Yep! our parents were always together, Stauchlager, Hexen, Sportsmans, 1 st ave or 7th, and sometimes your dad escaped to the Golg Course.... hehehehe!

Believe it or not, I don't go to the pubs much here anymore, get pissed at home and get to play my own music,( if Michele lets me, that is! )

The  night  of  Champagne  and  Blue  cheese ..
One  night  in  the  early  hours   an  after  party  trawled  into  our  home   ...  Mom  Dad  and  the  gang ...  Mom  must  have been  bored  with  the company  or  maybe  she  was  just  in a silly  mood  so she  woke  me  up  and  said  she  would  teach  me  about  appreciation  of the finer things  in  life ..   at the age  of  9 ?? ..  So there  was  I  now seated   on  the  floor   in  front  of    her ...  She  had  on  this  reversible  evening  coat   ..  one  side  a beautiful   satiny emerald   green   and  the other side  something  that looked  like  a  christmas  tree .  that   christmas  tree  was  never worn  on  the  outside ..  being  reversible  it  had inside  and outside  pockets   and  boy  were they  deep  cos  out  of the  inside  pockets   she  fished  two  bottles  of  champagne  and  two   wedges  of  blue cheese ..  the  trick  she said was  to   take  a  bit of  blue  cheese   and then follow with  a  healthy swig  of  bubbly .. Not  a bad  idea  at  all !!   the  blue  cheese was  a  bit  too powerful  for  my  yet  uneducated  palate    so  I  snuck  the  pieces  given  to  my  dog  waiting  expectantly  on  the  side ..   Yup  between  the two  of us  we  finished  the  two  bottles of  bubbly   .. I  was  by now   very  unsteady   and had  difficulty  getting  up  .. but Mother  .. she  seemed  to  have  hollow  legs  stood  up  daintily  on  the  high heels  ,   no  unsteadiness  and  walked  me  to  my  room  .. " good  night  son "  and  off  she went to party  more ..   I  remember  my  dad  saying  that  she  had  a  cast iron  constitution , many  a time  partying  the  toughest guys   including  him  under  the  table   . A  true party  girl !!  and  a    memory of  her in  one of her  crazy  moments ....
