Do you believe that there is life after death?

Reading some interesting books lately, the thought crossed my mind!

In case you might be interested, I do not go to church, I find my faith in my lodge sufficient and I am a firm believer that there is indeed life after death. You may laugh, but I have had OBe's twice, i know where I am going......

Right there with you Mike in believing in life after death. It was long ago proved that everything is energy and energy can never be destroyed.  That being the case, we've gotta go somewhere after death in this world and us being in the 3rd dimension speaks for itself that there's other dimensions.  I don't either go to church, preferring to keep my  mind, body and soul open to my own truths as i walk my path in this lifetime.

With you both on this one.  I also believe that death is not the end - it's simply a transition from one form of energy hosted in a human body to a higher (or lower) level.  I regard myself as being very spiritual, rather than very religious.  That of course doesn't mean do as you like for there is no hell - I believe one should lead this life given to us in such a way that it radiates positive energy to "ascend" to the next level.

What bothers me about this transition, is can we prove that we still keep our memories, do we still remember the past when we move on? Reading some articles on research into NDE's (Near death experiences) , a number of different stages are known to occur, however, there is a stage where one is met by dead relatives, if we go with them, do we forget our family behind on this earth?

I don't think so, Mike.  Rather than "memories" - a higher energy level might be like existing in the form of "presence" - being with those dear to us in a higher level, and still very much present in the memories of those on earth.  Jong, nou raak ons bietjie diep, né!

Heelwat..... when my mum dies of cancer at 01h56 in the morning, my brothers and I sat together at home at e7-1st ave, whilst my dad stayed with her in the Hospital.... at that time the lights in our home at E7-1st flickered and dimmed.... went very bright and back to normal...... that was the exact time she passed......

Had  so many incidents  in my life  that  I  just  accept them as a norm  seen good and experienced good ,, seen and experienced  really ugly shit  while helping a friend through a drug addicition   .. So I as I have from a child instincitvely beleived and accepted   that we do not just fizzle out entirely ... any  happening is a message orreaching out  or  a warning  etc ..  I posted on page  3 of the below topic the one story

Furthermore just had one past night .. I been going  through a bit of a low patch ,, dealing with finality .. it comes up every so now and again  as part of the process  so I just work through  it each time .. blessing  is  i am in touch  with my feelings and can realise and  deal with each episode ... 'Anyhow  my hairdresser  came around yesterday afternoon .. dropped him off  at about 7:30 in the evening ... upon getting  back home I notice something .. theres a CD out of its cover lying  on the passenger seat  I recall it being  in its box by the HI FI .. .. it was not on the passenger seat when i dropped him off ,,, it was a significant  one in its content .. now the question is how did it get there ..??/ I just accepted  that  I was meant to listen to it again  which I did .. pretty much along the same  thread as  the story in the link .. stuff can even be moved ..  and no My friend would not  take  it , not his taste ,,,

Mike (& anybody else who's interested) - read Michael Newton's "Journey of Souls" and "Destiny of Souls".  He's a hypnotherapist who pioneered the exploration of life-between-lives of the soul back in the 70's.  He stumbled upon this soul state by chance in a regular hypnotherapy session with one of his patients who had gone so deep that they had actually regressed back to soul state and he then went on to routinely regress people back to their soul state to find out more about this fascinating part of life we know so little about.  After 20 years of research and thousands of regressions, he published the above two books in 1994 and 2000 respectively. And yes, the light flickering story - one of the most well known ways of our loved ones letting us know they're okay once on the other side. I know when my dad and aunt are around - they love flickering the lights. 

I've had experiences with smells coming out of nowhere - another of their favourite ways of letting us know they're around us - smells that can no way be traced to anything around me - believe me, when its happened i've hunted for any source just to make sure.  I've had fairy music boxes turn on their sweet music when walking past them just as i've been thinking about my dad or aunt. 

I don't believe we forget our loved ones back on earth when moving on - the energy of love is the strongest energy there is which keeps us bonded with them forever.  If we did forget our loved ones back on earth, how come we get visits from them once they're gone? 

And Bertie - well put when you said "I believe one should lead this life given to us in such a way that it radiates positive energy to "ascend" to the next level".  It's all about what energy you give out which either ascends or descends you spiritually to another level of consciousness.

I most definatly believe in life after death. It might sound crazy but my dad still looks after me. "Visits" my mon when she is down and lets you "know" he is still around. My gaurdian angel.

Well put Gerda ,,, guardian angels  they are there in so many forms  our passed parents , friends  etc  ..  I dont read  any of the books  on  anything mystical  ,  they tend to flavour  ones thoughts ..   trust your instincts and what happens .. If you  or  your Mom feels that comfort from that  moment  of recognition .. who knows  it could be a result of  longing  or it could be a real happening .. dont question .. accept  it  with good grace ..  bless that moment ...  thats all that is required.. again trust your instincts ..   and   bugger anyone that tries to spoil that special feeling ,,,

Yes, I believe... Having said that, let me clarify...

* Don't believe in "Being Religious" but DO believe in being a Christian - as best as I can. And therefore believe in the afterlife as written in the Bible. At least as far as I am able to understanding it.
* Do go to church (more than twice a week).
* Am active within the church I attend. Again, as best as I am able.

Perhaps some will say this is too much information so I might as well really go all the way...

I help to run a church in Napier.

My wife is a qualified Pastor after all.

So, getting back to the question in hand... yes I do believe there is life after death.
