Old machines

A small dozer been there since my appie days
Belly scrapers engine in front and back a yollow type and the light green lying on its side

Seing the old 412 push-n-pull scraper reminded me of hearing the Owambo name for the belly scrapers the other day... "mapulli". I asked the bloke who told me to elaborate on its origin but could tell me no more than the fact that some scrapers only had the front engine and the "head" pulled the scraper along; thus mapulli taken from the English pull...
The name was carried over to the 633 water tankers that are used to wet the haul road with... the machine that started that whole conversation.

Hi Alfred
The first two shots look like the Komatsu D50 bulldozer we used in bedrock cleaning operations. The machine in 3 is unknown. The fourth shot is of a Cat 641 open bowl scraper used in overburden stripping. The fifth pic I think is of an old Le Tourneau scraper. Where are they lying?

Hi Gordon
The first three shots are the same machine taken at the scrap yard behind the old North Hostel the Car 641 open bowl scraper is in the same scrapyard as the first machine the old Tourneau scraper is lying next to our HT lines between 4 plt sub and the tar road "East cliff road" G80 ???? not sure, just a little north of the scrap yard.

Spot on with the machines except, could your Komatsu not be a Cat D4 or D6 we used to have one at 4 Plant??

Clive yes it is a Komatsu in the middle of the blade is a sign the same as Kamatsu, I will get a pic later of the blade
